  1. Abuse he took was OTT, but he was a consistent weak link - he made the same mistakes over and over again. I'd say that in the world of football over a period of ten years, that is rather frustrating for fans. Also don't get this "great servant" pish - same as Mackie got. It's pretty easy to be a "great servant" when you're at a big club getting a rather nice wedge every week despite falling short of the standards required, Aberdeen is/was the biggest he was ever going to get, what's so difficult for him staying as long as he had a contract? Certainly don't wish him any ill, but I'm not going to pretend he was anything other than what he actually was.
  2. Yet Scott Wright got motm... would like to see a bit more of him this coming season.
  3. Red Stars, Glasgow's Aberdeen Supporters team are on the lookout for new players for the forthcoming season. Players for all positions are required. The club is going into it's sixth season now and is about to embark on a new chapter. After 4 years of being part of the Scottish Supporters League we have joined the Glasgow Sunday Central League. While there are a few other supporters teams in the league, this will be a departure for Red Stars in that this will be the first time we've not been in a league exclusively for supporters teams. We play our home matches on Sunday's at Milton and train on Thursday's at Springburn Park. We are sponsored by The Rock in the West End which certainly helps aid an active social side of the club. Even if you're not able to join, please pass the message on to anyone you think would be interested. Please email clubfutbolaberdeen@gmail.com Many thanks.
  4. Cheers Manc! Only got a few seats left to fill now, so looking good. 2-0 Dandies!!
  5. 'What happens is that they all go to mark him, two or three defenders, he draws people to him and that leaves others free" Lizarazu said Zidane was the only player he ever played with or against that would have three players around him and yet his team mates would still pass the ball to him. You couldn't give Zidane a bad pass - he would control anything, at any height and produce something out of it. Maradona was similar. Michael Laudrup was similar too. When you have Messi's ability it should be about leading the team - you have to show you are the best despite the obvious attentions of your opponents, Messi at international level just doesn't do that. Dress it up as 'he's doing it for the team' etc, but it comes down to it, he isn't using his talents properly for his national side and that is nothing but a disappointment in my book. Maybe he will have a good tournament in 3 years time, but one good tournament out of how many..? For all his amazing club displays one glorious tournament would still be too little, relatively speaking.
  6. Also signed Scott Fox, a pretty shite keeper. Would get my cash on them to go down. Not sure if this has happened but was told last night (not been following it myself) that Killie have signed McCulloch... along with Steven Smith and Kris Boyd... never liked Killie and like them even less now. They also signed Higginbottom from Thistle, the guy who was complaining last year about plastic pitches causing him injuries - strange one.
  7. Watched it last night (didn't realise i had Premier Sports until last night - could have watched the Dons game on Thurs on my couch rather than going out for it!!)... enjoyed the game, lots of tackles, played at a good pace and looked a great atmosphere, some very good technical players on show, but... Higuain's penalty... oh my word. One of the newspapers in Argentina gave Messi 3.5 out of 10 for his performance last night. They were being generous. Undoubtedly an incredible talent but to me it looks more and more that he needs his supporting cast from Barca to perform. No Iniesta or Xavi and he seems to fade. No shame in that of course (who wouldn't miss playing with those guys?) but it's disappointing that he can't pull his international team mates along in the same sort of manner Maradona did, and Messi, arguably, has a better standard of team mate than Maradona did.
  8. Still a few seats available for what's a big game now folks...roll up, roll up!!
  9. Ward wasn't to blame for the goal - the two centre backs standing off the guy were to blame, one of them had to be closer. It was a cracking header though, in fairness. But what was Ward up to with that one he left and the guy got in behind him, only for Quinn to save us? Terrible decision making. Agree with Jute - Rooney far too isolated and not enough dynamism coming from midfield. Taylor... the first passage of play in the game summed him up - big lump up the park to no-one and when it comes back he is indecisive and his touch lets him down resulting in them getting a half chance. Happens far too much with this guy, his distribution is hellish and it puts us under pressure. Put Considine into CB with Reynolds (when fit) and get Shinnie to LB.
  10. They're not.
  11. Extremely simplistic way of looking at it. People can see when someone isn't playing well, they don't have to cost a goal for that to be proven to them.
  12. It can knock your confidence though which in turn alters your decision making. I agree it wasn't all down to Anderson not being there but I think it had a big influence on it - when such a steadying influence and all round superb player is no longer at your side it's bound to affect you. The most worrying thing for me regarding Reynolds was his performance on the Friday night v St Johnstone a week before the Semi final. He was bullied by Steven McLean. As poor a performance i've seen from any outfield player under DM. He probably should have been dropped after that game but we just don't have the squad to do such things.
  13. Our club are looking at running a bus to the above fixture. Likely departure time will be 3.30pm again from North Hanover St and picking up in Cumbernauld, Stirling Services, Dunblane and Perth Services should there be the appetite for it. Looking at keeping prices at £20 a head for adults. If you are interested please email clubfutbolaberdeen@gmail.com Edit: Just changed the date for you BB!
  14. Lisa Simpson on crack.
  15. San Sebastien, Bilbao and potentially Gijon... still to confirm that part of it. Any recommendations of where to see or where not to see?
  16. Wouldn't be surprised if the likes of Foster, McCulloch etc are all re-signed come late July. They'll want a couple of months of them off the wage bill while there is no income.
  17. No, no we didn't. You honestly think Barraclough is going to tell his team to lie down to them on the instruction of some SFA suit? The huns are undoubtedly the establishment club in this country, but suggesting that other teams are taking instructions to throw matches is bordering on the Celtic paranoia levels.

Similar to my deal with Virgin. I've had Virgin for 8 years now and i've never had an ounce of trouble with them. I wouldn't leave them.
  19. You seriously believe that? If Motherwell lose it, it'll be because they're bottle merchants and basically not a very good football team, not because someone has "had a wee chat with Barraclough".
  20. I'd take a punt on him. Scored some absolutely sublime goals this season, and considering the utter guff he's playing alongside, that's no mean feat.
  21. I don't think lack of (football) intelligence is DG's issue at all. It's the fact there is absolutely no striker's instinct there at all. He wants 3 touches where Rooney would have had the ball in the net in one.
  22. Scott Fox? Absolutely no chance. He's poorer than the two clowns we currently have. I would agree that DM's transfer dealings are patchy and also not a fan of Taylor... Brian Irvine in a different kit, basically.
