Bordeaux - Basque Country (Spain) - Porto - Lisbon.

Feel a bit for Shaugnessy. When he came through I was impressed with his technique and composure but we never saw much of him after his red card at Fir Park in the cup. Maybe DM just didn't trust him after that. The fact he was never really given a sustained run at CB must also smart for him, but i hope he gets a decent gig.

Thought it may have been another bluff a la Boyd/Goodwillie last season. Maybe May is the smokescreen for us actually signing Edinson Cavani. As long as it's not Falcao we're going for...

Hills already sponsor the Scottish Cup.

hahahahaha he knows they can't pay it back without major ramifications. Dead Duck FC. -
Playing him right midfield - about the one position in midfield he really shouldn't be playing - certainly won't help him settle in any quicker. He'll be fine, just needs to relax a bit and remember he's not at St Mirren anymore - i.e. doesn't have to shoot any time he's within 35 yards of goal as he actually now has team mates worth passing to.
-
Don't think it really matters; it's just a group of guys applauding another group of guys, hardly offensive stuff.

Dear me. That is extremely generous. Not sure how you can, for example, say that the players in front of him were in anyway connected to him chucking one in at Celtic Park meaning we lost the game one nil? He's a poor keeper who struggles with the basics and please don't say he's a good shotstopper - he's average at that aspect of the game. An aspect which is a pre-requisite for a professional goalkeeper.

Can't see Everton being a good choice for him. Should Barry and Gibson still be there next season, i think Jack would be behind both of them, they all want to do that same job in midfield.

My favourite footballer of all time. Watching him at Hampden in the 89 Cup Final and lifting the trophy is one of my favourite memories from watching the Dons, he was brilliant - glided through matches but when someone needed cemented he would do it. The standards he set for his team mates was one reason we were so good, will never forget him giving Ian Robertson the thousand yard stare at Love St around 1988...Robertson just about melted on the spot. When the Dons needed inspiration, there wasn't a finer sight than Miller stepping out from the back and taking us forward. Archie MacPherson once described him as "imperiously majestic", about the only thing MacPherson got right in his career. Happy 60th Birthday to No.6

Quality interview with a cracking player, and seemingly a decent chap despite his Jute-ness!! http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/apr/28/paul-sturrock-yeovil-town

So wages due to be paid yesterday was it? Maybe today or tomorrow, but either way it's likely to be Ashley paying for it again. Supposedly they asked him for more funding last week; he asked for assurances of Murray to be removed, his two men to be given a public apology and reinstated and.... and... McCoist's salary to be made common knowledge. Now why would he want that in the public domain...? -
Was never a big fan of Stavrum, would say that Rooney is a far superior player in pretty much every way. It will be hard for him to win it but even the tims couldn't begrudge him it if he gets it.

Agree with tlg about Smith changing the game. He found pockets of space between their midfield and defence and they found it hard to pick him up. Think it's the performance Smith has needed for a while and it will do him good. We were absolutley woeful in the first half, looked as though we were on our holidays already but their goal gave us the kick up the arse that was needed. Thought McGinn was really good in the second and cracking celebration right in front of the Dons fans. Denied another clear penalty when the ICT defender was stroking the ball with his hand, but it didn't matter in the end. Another piece of very dubious goalkeeping too after he had pulled off some good saves, we can't go into next season without that position being strengthened.

Football is about winning things. We hadn't won anything for 19 years. It wasn't a one off game either, we had to win a handful of games to win it. The team has been more impressive than last season and DM has shown a tad more flexibility in team selection of late which has also been pleasing, but we'll be walking away from this season empty handed, regardless of how impressive we've been. While we never expected to be in the hunt for the league, we are allowed to expect a better showing in the cups. Aberdeen should be a very good cup side, but we're not, unfortunately. You could file this season under "What could have been" alongside 88-89, 90-91, 92-93, 93-94 etc.

Think McGinn's v Hamilton is technically the best so voted for that, but really enjoyed Rooney's v St Johnstone, a fantastic strike when we really needed a goal.

I'd wondered why they'd gone straight to extra time when I got in...

Was it not a 3.45 ko as well?

How many did Caley have against us for last season's LC Final? 13,000? There will be a whole load of huns from Falkirk making up the numbers I'd imagine.

Fair do's mate, apologies for getting the wrong end of the stick. Totally agree with your post there, as you say, a league is a league - the idea is that at the end of it, everyone is where they should be. Playoffs etc can be exciting of course, but I think it's fundamentally wrong that 4th place can be rewarded so much more than those finishing 2nd. Unless of course 4th is Queen of the South and 2nd is the huns. In which case i'm right behind it...

Best for whom? It's certainly not the best for the supporters of those teams who, lets face it, would likely be lost to the game for good. A die hard Motherwell fan certainly isn't going to go and watch some hybrid of his own club and their biggest rivals. How is that the best for anyone? Just because we want the number of professional clubs to reduce? If clubs can live within their means then I don't see why anyone should believe they don't have the right to be a professional club. Think about what you're asking of clubs and more importantly think about how the fans feel. Fans who feel the same things for their club as we do for the Dons and put yourself in their shoes in that situation. It's an arrogant, almost OF attitude to have.

Didn't last long. Pumped 4-1. Huns 1-1 away to Livi. Porto 3 Bayern 1 PSG 1 Barca 3. All four managers in tonight's CL games are ex Barca players. Wonder if that's ever happened before. I have a fancy for Porto this year. Really good team.
-
Swings and roundabouts for them surely? Put it in as the first game, Celtic win, they then have 4 rounds of matches where there's nothing to play for, so they'd have potentially more dead rubbers than your scenario there.

Aye, just edited my post, BBC had originally missed out a week of the fixtures!
