I really don't think you should have been surprised. One of the biggest gripes I have about McInnes (he has been great for us, don't get me wrong) is the continual underuse of his subs. Look at the Scottish Cup semi last season...we needed a goal, didn't change anything until we were into injury time when he finally brought Vernon on. I know it's a bit of a cliche, but it's a squad game these days and yet McInnes is refusing to use his squad.
-
Another game we desperately need a goal, and another game where McInnes refuses to shake things up. Shankland is going to end up going elsewhere at this rate. Rooney is the best striker we've had since Duncan Shearer, so why is he getting shunted out to the wing? It smacks of McInnes wanting to use his best eleven players, rather than the eleven which fit the shape the best. Reynolds needs to get his finger out as well, he's been poor this season and it's now looking like he needs Anderson there to hold his hand.

He's supposedly recorded most of his conversations with other parties. I'm sure these will be used to save his own skin. Surely only a matter of time until David Murray is wheeled in to answer a few questions too..? -
Hard to say. The pitch doesn't look great even as far as these artificial pitches go, looks very dry and I thought in the 1st team game it had a negative influence on us so there is maybe something in that. We were so poor though that it can't just be down to the pitch. As I said, I must have caught them on an off day but both me and my mate were actually taken aback at the gulf between the sides. The Hamilton side may have been a wee bit older within the age bracket, but we really didn't look like a team who had started the day as league leaders.

I went along to this yesterday; Shankland's goal was an absolute cracker, superb first time hit on the volley from just outside the box. Shankland looks a good few levels above his team mates and looks more than ready for the first team; great first touch, good strength and movement. It's the first time i've seen this group together and obviously caught them on an off day. Hamilton were streets ahead of us and I was extremely impressed with them - a lot of nice one touch passing at pace, our lads were chasing shadows, frankly. Their two centre backs were superb and their striker, Brophy, was excellent. The only other Don who got pass marks (just) was Gibbons. He looked to switch the play a lot and has a good range of passing. He was also very vocal and led the team like a captain, but unfortunately he was pissing against the wind as his colleagues were not up to his standard on the day.

Remember that day, a tim mate of mine taking great pleasure in telling me he'd gone to Hivs. Gutted. A silent farewell for a quiet player who had done a lot for us.

Always going to happen though. People can only go on what they've seen. I wouldn't have Zerouali or Irvine for example anywhere near a greatest Dons list, but folk can only vote for who they've seen and their favourite therein. I can't say "I'll put George Hamilton in because my Grandad said he was ace". I wouldn't lose any sleep over it MBT, just a bit of fun and we've all got our own opinions and favourites which will never change, in all likelihood.

So why not put it up? Scared it may create some discussion on here..? Aye, cracking player. I started going to matches regularly when he was first getting into the team regularly. Two footed, could tackle, pass, get goals, covered the pitch well...absolutely everything required to be a top class midfielder and he brought the best out in Jim Bett too.

Big Dunc was a great player but not sure he was great enough to be included twice Manc...
-
1. Willie Miller 2. Jim Leighton 3. Alex McLeish 4. Brian Grant 5. Stewart McKimmie 6. Paul Mason 7. Charlie Nicholas 8. Theo Snelders 9. Duncan Shearer 10. Russell Anderson
-
Personally I don't think you can include players you've not seen, otherwise how could you possibly rank them? i.e. I couldn't say that Arthur Graham was better than Joe Harper but Martin Buchan was better than both when I didn't see any of them play for us. Think it has to be your favourites from what you've seen.

Taken from Mad: A couple of Aberdeen Mad regulars are collating a feature for the Aberdeen FC Former Player Association magazine 'Heavenly Dancers' about the greatest 25 players in Aberdeen's history." They're looking for your help through the link below so please tell them your top 10 favourite Dons of all time, in order of preference from 1-10. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JJRT5KG Let's see yours then...

What's more in your face? I don't think we're talking about the same thing here.

What's living in the Central Belt got to do with anything? Have you been unaware of all the stuff around Dons-huns games over the years simply by not living in the Central Belt?
-
You said in the other thread you wanted United...
-
We're running a bus to the Celtic game. Leaving Nth Hanover St @ 8am, pick ups in Cumbernauld, Stirling, Dunblane and Perth if required. Leaving Aberdeen at 4pm (time for a pint after the game, and to avoid the worst of the traffic south). £20 for adults. Contact clubfutbolaberdeen@gmail.com to book a seat. Thanks.

Would imagine the police would be very jumpy about a semi final featuring any of the three against the huns, but United is by far and away the least volatile out of the possibilities. Even if we got them and beat them, you know what sort of crap would be in the media in the run up and afterwards. Who misses that shite? i certainly don't.
-
Fuck that. Far more trouble than it's worth. Wouldn't care if we never played them again.
-
Preferrably someone else's...
-
Been saying the same this morning. Not sure if anyone here heard it last night, but Chick Young, upon announcing the Jutes had won, said something along the lines of "Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen and Dundee United... the natural order of Scottish Football is back" hahaha... what?
-
Langfield is a massive hun, hence why he asked Calderwood if he could sign for them. If you were going to base it on "teams he fucks up against" he could support a lot of teams but Dundee Utd would probably come out on top. The Arab tit.
-
Surprised at how little has been said on here about that shambles. Agree with Jute...wrong selection and tactics. What's more worrying is how slow DM was in identifying and then correcting this (imo he didnt correct it). Taylor is laughably poor. The high point for me being when closing someone down he threw his hands up to his face in case that big hard ball hit him on the face. Pathetic. Langfield - appalling. Throw about any stats you like, people can see it with their own eyes - he's fucking garbage. We go in at ht at 0 0 after our poorest 45 mins under DM and that 2nd half is completely different. He handed it to them on a plate. Why are we still persisting with this joker?

I may be running a bus for this, would you be interested?

The price of football in this country is absolutely scandalous. But as long as we continue to pay it, they'll continue to charge it. The price is a huge reason I don't go every week anymore. SPL (or whatever the fuck it's calling itself today) football must be close to the worst value for money you get in the "entertainment business". Compare the price to golf - if you go to the Open a day ticket may cost you around £60. Double the price of the most expensive SPL ticket - but for that you get an all day event and watching the very best in the world at that sport. Even the most dyed in the wool SPL fan would have to admit our league is a far way away from being the best in Europe never mind the world. I read somewhere a while ago that if the price had gone up only with inflation, we'd be paying around £12 to get in. The standard has dropped significantly over the last 20 years, but we're paying 100% more than we should be? Talk about taking the piss.

That as well, but having a keeper who never ventures off his line doesn't exactly help matters either, does it?
