  1. When the players lifted Pawlett, McInnes was jumping up trying to get him down again, obviously worried about his injury! Brilliant day all in. Got to the pub for 11 and had a great laugh with a great bunch of folk. Bus journey was ace, singing all the way. Got into the ground to find we were right beside the BBC studio and got the Willie Miller chants started which he seemed to enjoy greatly! The game seemed to pass so quickly. A pretty poor spectacle but the important thing was done. Think Cammy Smith and Nicky Low should be proud of their performances - two relatively inexperienced players who took responsibility on and showed what they're made of. Enjoyed the celebrations and got back to the Rock after the game and our celebrations lasted well into the small hours. So many folk in our group had never seen the Dons win anything before - the delight not to mention relief they feel must be huge. The best thing about this team is that they are a likeable lot; it's a squad full of honest players, not just a few littered with many jokers as it has been in recent times. The spirit there is unquestionable, again something that has been missing for so long. Well done to DM and his team, they deserve all the plaudits coming their way.
  2. To be honest, I don't think it was a foul on the keeper. It's a symptom of the modern game that we expect keepers to get everything their way and that shouldn't be the case. Thought the ref today did quite well, Black's tackle for his yellow wasn't a yellow in itself but the ref knew what he was up to - it was a revenge tackle and he nipped it in the bud there and then because after that, Black took a step back. However, in the broader sense the SFA/UEFA/FIFA have to step in with this hun lot. Rovers players hitting the deck with cramp from about 65 mins on. The huns playing full time players on very good SPL wages would be absolutely fine if they could afford it, but they can't. That isn't sport. Why shouldn't Rovers pay for players above their financial capacity if it gets their club where they want, knowing they can just go into admin and then get it all wiped, and still survive? I know it wouldn't work like that for Rovers etc, but what the huns are doing isn't sporting, it isn't in the essence of fair competition and everyone knows it. They've made a loss of £14m in 12 months, when they've been in existence for only 2 years, why is this allowed to happen? They should have been banned from the major domestic cup comps as well as Europe for their first three years as it would have made sure they kept the ball on the deck as far outgoings went - if they knew the only games they had were lower league matches they'd have cut their cloth accordingly knowing they couldn't play the tims/Dons/Jutes etc til at least their fourth year of existence. The football authorities are as much to blame as the huns board and that cheating bastard McCoist for what is about to happen again.
  3. Surely not? It's a cup final, and their first ever major cup final appearance. Is a positive result in a league game a week before really going to be the deciding factor for their fans? I think it's more the case that they just don't have many fans.
  4. Did Kenny Rodgers do the half time entertainment that day?
  5. Murrayfield's pitch would kybosh that. It is infested with a type of worm that doesn't allow the grass to bed in properly, so the top surface comes away when a boot goes into it. (it may well have been sorted by now right enough but that was certainly the case a few weeks ago)
  6. Wednesday could be a good day if reports are accurate.
  7. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26333152 Although it doesn't directly quote, the judge did say that had he agreed to ringfence the cash it would place Rangers at a great risk of entering insolvency proceedings.
  8. Exactly. They're an irrelevance. Unless we draw them in the cup should both get through next weekend, I have a feeling we will either never face them again (in whatever guise) or it won't be for a good few years. It's only this week afterall that a judge saved them from insolvency, which hasn't been widely reported. They're rubber ducked and with that cheating cunt McCoist "needing" a "£30m war chest" this summer to guarantee the PL in a couple of years they're providing themselves with enough rope to hang themselves several times over. Ally McCoist
  9. Who knows why it is, but fuck me, how dare they start a football match a whole half hour before it should really start...
  10. Likewise - although one was my brother so he only does it so he doesn't get a drunken phone call in the early hours... but I think people are now beginning to appreciate how good a side we have and how good a manager we have. His tactics were spot on yesterday. MBT - I apologise if I offended you in my earlier post, but I get frustrated that a lot of our fans seem to have a Celtic fan perspective of things - that everything is going to go against us. If we play our game, we'll win. If not, there's a chance we'll lose, regardless of opposition. Exactly the way it should be for AFC.
  11. And? Who cares? Is this not the point about Aberdeen actually being a team again? It doesn't matter what happens around us - play our game and it'll be fine. Take some joy from our performance rather than some paranoid mess about Celtic/huns which is probably well wide of the mark anyway.
  12. Mental.
  13. Aye, and my point stands mate. The vast majority of pubs are not open at that time.
  14. You'll be lucky to find any that open at 11am Al. I know of one, and that's it. Most (the vast majority unfortunately) are 12.30 openings still. We've had to ask the Rock if they'll get a licence for early opening that day. They've put their request in, just waiting to hear back.
  15. Vernon also played as a left midfielder for a lot of the time. Vernon's record in a pretty wretched side under McGhee in particular is actually fairly decent I think, all things considered. Scored goals under Brown at the start IIRC correctly, but he must have played a fair whack of games out of position. If Vernon's not a front man, he's nothing really.
  16. Wylde never impressed me. Never got his head up when running with the ball, ran in straight lines, crossing was generally poor. No thanks. "Scott Muirhead Tribute Act" best sums him up.
  17. I don't get the love in with Hector. He's a good player for sure, but his use of the ball out of defence was tragic at times; often just leathering the ball up the park when there is no pressure on him. If he was to come back I think it'd be good for us but I'm not convinced he's a requirement, and if he's not an option for us long term I'd rather we used Joe at right back. Some of the things I've read about the guy you'd think he was a cross between Miller, Beckenbauer and Baresi.
  18. I don't think he did pull out, just that he had travelled so far that by the time he reached the Killie player he was slowing down naturally. His two feet were off the ground and it was a lunge. When that happens you have little control over your body, certainly not enough to allow you to pull out of it. Deserved red card and if we appeal it his ban will be increased I'd imagine.
  19. Don't know how you could live with yourself, Al...
  20. West Ham fans must be delighted that they're getting value for money from the 13th highest paid manager in the world... Surprised Ally McCoist isn't on that list.
  21. Far too many "luxury" players for a generally middling team. Lovely players to watch on their day, but really if they can't be arsed (which is a lot of the time) they're not slow in showing it. I was surprised Jol had assembled that squad, I like Jol but I think he got it badly wrong with the makeup of his squad.
  22. Hills out to 11/5 earlier today for us to win on Wed. Way over priced, tough game for us for sure and I think it'll be tight but that is far too big for us against a side who have lost their last two, one of which was a spanking in Paisley. Not going to this, I don't plan to be in any fit state to be out my bed by at least 2.30pm, but I think we'll win. Really hope Jack and Pawlett are fit for this, Pawlett in particular is a vital player for us these days.
  23. Check the tackle on 50 secs or thereabouts from that cheating prick McCoist. And elsewhere on that video, a player having a career after his career was ended. WOW!
  24. If he's still playing football, Russell Anderson is the best defender at the club. Reynolds is a cracking player and Considine is a player I've always liked but neither of them have the influence Anderson has, and that is part of being a good player. When he's not in the team Reynolds, Consi, Hector etc can not make up for the experience or the composure Anderson brings. Last Saturday Russell hardly broke a sweat but was one of the best players on the park. At one point he was barking instructions from 15 yards away to Hector and Hayes as they closed down Stevie May. We came away with the ball and an attack was started, both Hector and Hayes turned and gave Anderson the thumbs up in thanks. That sort of influence is invaluable to a team like Aberdeen who have so many young players particularly in the defensive area. The laughable thing is that you read elsewhere that supposedly Russell has "always struggled against big, strong centre forwards" and loads dive in to agree. The same Russell Anderson whose best Scotland performance involved him having John Carew in his back pocket for 90 minutes? Aye, very good.
