I really do think he wants to stay. He clearly likes playing for us at least - he's the last guy off the pitch today, look at his reaction to the penalty save. Just sign, Kari. You know you want to, you know we want you to. Makes sense all round, so let's stop the fucking about, eh?

Jason Brown wants another deal with Aberdeen FC
BobbyBiscuit replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Agree Al, makes such a difference having a keeper come off his line for crosses, and he did that impeccably today. -
Thought Jason Brown (love his attitude), Mark reynolds and Andy Considine had superb matches and also thought Arnie had a good solid game. Think I'd probably give MOTM to the skipper though, maturing into a cracking centre half.

aye, thought he played well today. Have to admit i was disappointed seeing him through the middle and Vernon shunted out to the flank but he played the role really well.

Major Restructuring in the Pipeline for SPL
BobbyBiscuit replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
But that's just creating a bigger divide amongst clubs. They could give the 1st division more cash if that's the road they want to go down, but because of this split between the different governing bodies they can't/wont do this. They need to wise up and get one body overseeing the whole show. who cares what the leagues are called? -

Good stuff. Let's stick it to the cunts. -
I'd actually go along with most of this. They never look as solid minus Vidic as I said, but they also never look their usual fluid self minus Valencia.

I'd imagine the "experienced" board members are pretty familiar with the Ibronx Boardroom already too. -
My point about Carrick - and apologies if I didn't make this clear - is that he has played an enormous amount of games in the most important position on the park for a very succesful side - only failed to be league champion once since he signed and reached 3 CL Finals in that time. Silvestre and his ilk can not claim that, or do you believe differently? So, either this side - the one you claim is the poorest ever - is just really fucking lucky or the one I spoke about just happened to be really unlucky.

Did Alex Smith throw the SPL in May 91?
BobbyBiscuit replied to rocket_scientist's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Yeah, he started the 90-91 season really well, up front with Gillhaus. The season after 90-91, he scored a great goal v Hearts at Tynie (ran from his own box with the ball all the way to theirs and finished) and then in 92/93 he had a great season in midfield, again punctuated with a couple of cracking goals. Then left for Ipswich. -

I was actually thinking about this the other night after seeing the highlights for the first time since the actual day itself and it led me to looking a few things up. I know a lot of folk say he changed a winning formation etc, but when I was doing a bit of research we actually went 4-4-2 a few weeks before against Celtic at Pittodrie (won 1-0, Jess with the goal) so the whole run hadn’t actually been while playing 4-3-3. However, I remember my own reaction when hearing the line ups on the radio (we couldn’t get tickets for it) and it was certainly one of disappointment. While van de Ven was a fine player in his own right, the team had been superb in the 4-3-3 system. We all know that football is a game of tight margins at times; look at the chance van de Ven had at 0-0, and then the Gillhaus header. We should have been at least 1-0 up, possibly 2, and it’s a different game. Had that happened, it’s likely it was the right decision. But I tend to agree with Rocket’s underlying point; the huns had a raft of injuries and were clearly on their last legs, we should have gone for the throat from the off with Booth or van der Ark up front with Gillhaus and Jess. Ps anyone remember what happened to Paul Mason that season, he didn’t play a lot in the run in, just the odd game here and there. Was he injured? Out of favour? -
And so have a lot of the guys in this "dreadful" team. what's your point? Even though they were put out in the group stages of the CL in one of those seasons too? Fergie got it wrong again re team selection as has done in Europe this season since the start; he took it too lightly and got punished. I'm not defensive about it nor am I hurt about it, I'm putting across my point of view, last time I checked that's what this site was about, no? As CtS points out, United had a lot of very important players missing last night. Bilbao certainly deserved their victory, no problem there, it's just these hyperbolic statements I don't get. "Dreadful"? Come off it. If it's just about "guffland" for you then there's not much point continuing the conversation is there?

Giggs had a torrid time in those years, some sections of the support calling for him to be sold and Scholes missed a huge chunk of it through an eye injury that almost cost him his career, so you're talking nonsense. They may not be great, but they are far from dreadful.
-
You never see the United of Alan Smith, Kieron richardson, roy Carroll, Mikael Silvestre et al? Because the current lot may not be the best United side but they'd piss all over that lot. Seems to be every year is "the worst utd team i've ever seen" from loads of folk, but the side that had 3 seasons not winning anything was easily the worst I've seen since the mid 80s. Said it time and again, they can't play to that level minus Vidic. Fergie intimated he'd been too lax in his selections in Europe, Ferdinand should have started tonight for his experience against a superb frontline.

Looks as though they've not been making the pension contributions either. -
Levein's "you need to be able to play the long ball" crap in response to Mark Wotte underlining the importance of the emphasis of pass and move and dribbling made me die a little inside. Flashbacks of his Hertz team with Mark de Vries and Kevin McKenna filled my mind. It's that sort of response and attitude that has held our game back for years and this cretin is the manager of the national team. What next...? Play a match with no one in the forward positions..? Oh... wait...

Gow has done nothing in his career and there is a reason for that... he has a heart the size of a pea. The ability is there, but it appears the application/desire isn't.

Paul Murray saying any offer he makes shall be loaded with conditions, i.e. Ticketus and hmrc situations cleared up etc. No one in their right mind could buy that shambles, they've got little to no money coming in.
