  1. I thought 'mental' was an overreaction. Still can't see what that has to do with ego.
  2. What does my ego have to do with it? I wasn't putting myself forward for the job. Like I said, I didn't suggest that Langfield should get the job. I just wondered if that was the road the club were thinking of going down.
  3. Jesus, sorry I spoke. Loads of clubs give long-serving players coaching jobs. It's hardly 'mental' to wonder if Aberdeen are considering it. He's a better keeper than Stevie Woods, Craig Hinchcliffe and Gordon Marshall were, but they're deemed good enough to coach in this league. I dare say he won't get the job without his badges - and I neither said he would or should get it - but cheers for the constructive criticism.
  4. Clangers as player-coach?
  5. As soon as the club paid decent money for MacLean I expected Jack to leave this summer. The news of his contract extension is another example of the ambition shown by the club, an ambition that the players are buying into.
  6. Maybe Jack would be more likely to stay if Strachan would pick him for Scotland. He knows that if he moves to The Tims, EPL or abroad he'd walk into Scotland squads.
  7. Steve Banks from St Johnstone is a young keeper with bags of potential. We should sign him.
  8. Gutted for Clark Robertson. Injuries have stopped him fulfilling his potential. The signing of Shinnie was always likely to see him moving on. Surprised at how much of a damp squib Driver turned out to be.
  9. I agree with everyone about the need for a new keeper. With regards to outfield players, I don't see the point in bringing in anyone who isn't better than what we have. The young boys who have been on loan and who have done an excellent job for the under-20s should bolster the squad for next season.
  10. Keane's past his best and plays on the other side of the world, Long hardly gets a game at Southampton. Seems harsh he can't get a chance, but I suppose I'm biased.
  11. My first game was a reserve game, in the days when reserves played opposite fixture to first team. My old man took me to see the Champion Street final at Pittodrie and we stuck around to see Dons reserves beat Motherwell (I think!). Must've been around 1988.
  12. Really impressed with the ambition shown by the club. If Jack leaves, McLean's the perfect replacement. If Jack stays, we'll have the best midfield seen at Pittodrie in a long time. Hopefully McLean will be as successful a signing as Peter Weir, and more successful than Ricky Gillies.
