Where you off to Tyrant?
-
Darren Mackie Retires (but might now change his mind)
Superstar Tradesman replied to Tyrant's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Three goals of his stick in my mind. Leaping like a salmon to head home against Nistru Otachi, which sent us to Berlin. D'nipro, again, another header and nicking the ball off Rab Douglas to win nine games in a row sending Pittodrie into a mass snowballing Christmas celebration! -
Yes it is somewhere else on the interwebs Amp, congratulations on successfully stalking me on Facebook. Here's another pic of mine that's now out there in cyberspace: And ST takes the chequered flag! B to the O to the O to the M.

If rational thought and sensibility are what you are after then agreeing with Tom's post that is in part based upon discoveries of ancient relics, old foundations and underground streams then you have the 1950's city you deserve. As for worrying about Duthie Park losing a few parkies and becoming overgrown. Newsflash from two years ago: http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/aberdeen/blog/duthie-park-restoration-springs-to-life/article019483.htm But Tom wasn't to know that as he's too busy doom mongering about folk being unable to pay mortgages. None of which probably live in Aberdeen as they're all coining it in. Hey-ho. Tell me more about non-existant hospitals we should build or where we should use money that doesn't exist. I'm quite enjoying these fairytales now.

Seriously, who gives a shit how long it takes to pay off? How long did it take them to pay off their £80m new headquarters? The council are just scared they'll actually have to knuckle down and do some work for a change, instead of relying on easy money from parking fines, permits, council tax and government handouts.
-
There's a lot of reading in there BTR and I just don't have the time at the mo, so I'll take this: And say this: The funding for the new all-singing, all-dancing stadium has never been explained. So why do people think we can afford to buy that but not afford to renovate?
-
So £90m to be repaid by a shiny new bit of turf turning over money compared to a hole in the grun costing money to keep whilst nobody uses it. Actually, add another million to the cost of the upkeep whilst you're at it: http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/2913050 Maybe the council should just close Union Terrace to cars and better utilise the £1m they don't have to not close a school that doesn't exist?

Jesus H. Christ. Here we go again. OK, one more time for the special people........ The money isn't sitting in a bank somewhere earmarked to sort out pot holes, the NHS, Pittodrie, schools, cracked paving slabs, Union St, rehab centres, bendy buses, sheltered housing or anything else the Council have neglected over the past few decades. It's been offered up for redevelopment of UTG and NOTHING ELSE. The world is skint. The country is bollocksed. The council are in debt. Folk are brassed. Wood and his stooges are minted and offering magic beans. "Nah, yer a'richt min".

This was my point regarding the areas behind the DD and South Stand. You could build something the height, width and twice the depth of the DD on that concourse to house corporate hospitality, indoor training facilities, hotel rooms, whatthefuckever. But Milne doesn't want to and you lot are falling for his half-arsed lies of not being able to knock a roof down and stick a new one up over the Mainer. If he can gut schools, hospitals, factories and warehouses and turn them into flats then he sure as shit can turn a football stadium into a football stadium. Take the blinkers off.
-
Oh-yay! More surveys for folk to decide what they want that'll be pushed aside when it comes to not building it. As for not being able to redevelop Pittodrie; what a pile of steaming horse shite. There are huge areas at the back of the Dick Donald or South Stand that could be utilised and there are certainly a lot more stadium nationwide that are hemmed in a lot closer than Pittodrie that have managed. It's all smoke and mirrors.
-
Three weeks on Friday I'll be suppin beers at the Singapore Grand Prix. BOOM!
-
You're confusing UTG with a park. It's not. It's a massive hole in the ground with some trees and shit. Mostly shit.
-
I've only ever seen pics of the gardens taken through rose-tinted specs obviously taken by the UTG lovers. Anyone care to take their lives into their own hands and post the reality of the gardens sometime?
-
Loved it right up until the island disappeared at turn of a wooden handle. Then the shark had been jumed and it was tatties.
-
I must have been on holibobs when the brainwashing was done. Thankfully. We're brassed, we've won fuck all, our stadium is crumbling but we plan to build a brand new one out of fairy dust and magic beans. And this is the fault of the council aye? Cuckoo. *snap* You're back in the room.
-
And who is going to tell the US what they can and cannot do? America, fuck yeah.
-
Redevelop, safety standards, regulations, design, capacity, assets, transformation, administrations, profit, board, oil companies, sponsorship, foresight, ambition. All words that I've plucked from your post Tim. None of which a football fan should concern himself with. All however words that our chairman uses on a daily basis in his day job. None of which he concerns himself with when it comes to AFC. It's easy to blame the council here, but remember why we're in this position in the first place. If he was building flats then he'd make it happen and I very much doubt he'd let them fall into a state of disrepair.
-
If only we knew a builder who could undertake such a feat........
-
There's more at stake here than a few years in the nick. His whiter-than-white head is on the line. Literally.
-
Heard a soundbite of some councillor yesterday saying he was over the moon about the decision and now they could concentrate on pushing Aberdeen forward as the European city of culture (or some such shit) for 2017. Great. What they planning on showing the judges?
-
I find it difficult to give a fuck about the stadium knock-back given none of the fans wanted it out there in the first place. Pittodrie FTW (but most likely a draw if we're lucky)
-
The lassie ain't whiter than white, that's for sure. Like I said; why lock yourself into an embassy for life when you could do a couple years in some low security, human rights laiden, holiday camp? The US are distancing themselves from this but their fingerprints are all over it.
-
The US can more or less do what they like, where they like. As proven by Assange and his interweb geekery buddies. But they're probably hoping Sweden will do their bidding instead of doing their own dirty work by wading into a country a lot closer to home. Hell knows they've got enough enemies outwith missile shooting distance. Do they need another Cuba?
-
Personally I find it difficult to believe anyone wouldn't rather be locked up in an Ecuadorian embassy than doing bird in one of the most liberal jail systems in the world. He's currently serving life inside those four walls, whereas he'd be free after a few years if he took his chances in Sweden. It ain't rape charges he's dodging. If you can't see that you'd be as well in Guantanamo with a bag over your head.
