Well this is it. The amount of emotion shown by people who win, lose or, erm...... come in 2nd or 3rd is amazing. Couple that with sheer amount of countries pushing past history, politics, religion or grievances aside and you have something very special. On the sport side of things I can agree that there are 'only so many sports I have the capacity to care about' and I certainly don't class men jumping around in tights as one of those. But I'll still sit and watch just about any of it whilst marvelling at what the human body is capable of. As far as who wins? Well who cares. I can't remember anyone expressing that opinion when they're watching F1 drivers fly round a track having been put there by Mummy and Daddy. Heard it was a shambles at Hampden last night. They played the North Korea national anthem as the South Korean players walked out onto the pitch. Whereby the turned swiftly on their heels and sulked in the depths of Hampden for over an hour delaying kick-off. The crowd obviously didn't know what was going on and when they did emerge they came out to thousands of people booing them. Must have thought they were at Pittodrie.

Heard the Elgin chairman on the wireless this morning also speaking a lot of sense. Don't have any direct quotes (maybe someone can dig for them) but they went the long the lines of 'we won't vote them in', 'too much uncertainty', 'each team in the league will lose around £50k by voting no but there is no guarantee that the team (Huns) that they put out would attract huge numbers of supporters so we're willing to take that risk and anyway, we would have to do what is morally correct in this situation way before money comes into the equation'.
