Jim Leighton re-appointed 'keeper coach
Superstar Tradesman replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Sorry to burst everyone's bubble but if you think Aberdeen Football Club will be getting 'better players' anytime soon then they are seriously deluding themselves. The next couple seasons we might get players with better attitudes who will work for whichever guy happens to be in charge at the time but that's about it. Milne isn't interested in 'better players'. -
Daily Express - Diamond to Charlton
Superstar Tradesman replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I doubt we'd ever have got a million for Diamond. I do remember him being touted as a player we may one day get a million for. But the boy decided to read his own press rather than knuckle down and become that player. -
Brown option?

Well that's what I'm getting at. Seems strange that nobody has rubbished the claims that the 'leaks' are false information. Surely that would have been easier than the current pantomime? It certainly would have drawn far less interest than the global story that is now running. Yet the 'leaks' are all fairly tame and nothing that comes as that much of a surprise. In fact the most interesting thing about the whole carry on is the fact that the US look to be good guys. Strange that.

Best Coast. Jenny and Johnny.

Strange how nobody seems to be questioning the authenticity of the material. They must all be stamped with "FACT".

Brilliant article in The Herald (again)

I'm tending towards the old head/young gun, good cop/bad cop idea too. I just think it's far too big a job for one man to undertake and I'm would like to see something along the lines of a Jocky Scott and Eoin Jess dream team. I don't like going for legends because it's easy for them to end up ruining their reputation but at least Shearer walked away without having tarnished his due to his joint venture. -

Former Den Haag boss throws his hat into the ring

I wonder if he's got any real Dutch connections? -
The Paton loan also bothers me. Why loan a player out before the next manager comes in to see what he has to work with? Obviously it's for financial reasons but what if the next man spends the next transfer window looking for something he's already got but doesn't know about?

Un-named players comments in the record

In these sorts of situations you've got to see the funny side. London Scottish. -
That's what I mean. Along with your previous post that it could have happened any given Saturday at 5pm. I'm convinced it's just another blame deflecting exercise by the board to paper over the latest cracks. When is the AGM?
-
I wonder if they'll wait until after the AGM to announce the new man so that nobody can rip their throats out for choosing a half-arsed manager.
-
Fans you mean? Like that matters.

Why sack him now? Why now? Just because the Tim game was called off? Surely just because they have a week to get someone on board isn't the excuse? Surely they'd have compiled a shortlist or sounded out a few options regardless of whether they thought he was going or not? Surely you don't jump into a situation like this with a ticking clock of one week? If the Tim game was still on would he still be here if we drew or somehow fluked a win? Surely the bold text above were the final straw so why on Wednesday night more or less out of the blue (all things considered)? I just don't get it.
-
Like it or lump it, Hughes will be manager until the end of the season because we don't need to pay anything to get him. Milne will be rubbing his cold little hands and licking his lips.

Curbishley/Brown/Pardew/Jewell etc
Superstar Tradesman replied to Harcus's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Someone needs to come in with fresh ideas. We've went the Pele - Highland league journeymen route, we've had Jimmy with his Dutch football(!) and SPL contacts, we've had nice Uncle Ebbe with his Scandi-football which wasn't too far removed. We need someone who has contacts abroad (including England) to bring in experienced professionals who could show the younger lads that if they eat, train and don't act like idiots that they can achieve more on a Saturday than a knee-wobbler round the back of Tiger Tiger. Someone who could also help to promote the new stadium, turn a few heads and bring some fresh investment to the club. A guy who could get people interested in the club again, get the fans back and who could improve training beyond the mentality that "it's snowing, we can't train". Sadly, we don't have the ambition at the club or on the board so instead of someone like Jürgen Klinsmann to build the club up from top to bottom again, we'll get some other mug to tread water on Milne's PR exercise for his only real interest in life. -
Un-named players comments in the record
Superstar Tradesman replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I'm more alarmed at what they are saying. If they were saying they didn't like his training methods, didn't like they way he spoke to players, couldn't take to his no alcohol policy or couldn't get on with his backroom staff then I'd be more pissed off with the players. But they're saying the boy couldn't be arsed, so it rubbed off on the players. The fact that the players have came out to say something, named or un-named tells me they want to clear the air and explain to the fans or the new manager that they are willing to work if they have someone in charge who gives a fuck. Or have they pulled one over me as well? -
Change? Fuck no! We're (mostly) Aberdonians. Change is the last thing we want. see... Union Square, Trumph Course, city bypass, etc.
