I'm still to be convinced that a decent striker alongside Miller would really pay off. Mackie/Maguire keep getting pelters for "not being intelligent enough" but flick-ons, by and large, could land at any of the 3/4/5 defenders feet before his strike partner. No matter how good that partner is or how well he's positioned himself. I'd prefer if the two strikers were linking up and playing off each other on the deck. High ball to Miller, he brings it down, plays a.n.other through or 1-2-1.......back of the net! And for someone who keeps being pointed out as winning his fair share of headers; where is he during corner kicks?

Postma wants to play for Aberdeen
Superstar Tradesman replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Aye, he'll be used to the constant barrage of balls flying his way. -
My main concern isn't the amount coming in and out, it's the lack of quality that's coming through. The revolving door comment also stands for the first team. Were signing the likes of Mair, Duff and co. any better than throwing a youngster into the fray?

Well I believed in the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus for a good few years and other people believe it's right to go blowing up buses and the London Underground. Doesn't make it fucking right does it Iain? Surely you have to see something actually happening or have one of the other officials see it before you can chop off a goal or send someone off? Dallas certainly agrees. There's nothing to stop a referee saying that he 'believed' anything happened and not being able to get away with it. Fucking shocking.

I'd be very interested to see what our turn-around of staff is each season in comparison to other SPL outfits. There seems to be a revolving door down at Pittodrie which begs the question; why bother taking them in if they're not good enough?

The sun is splitting the trees today and I walked to work with my shades on, so it's Groove Armada all day long for me. I feel a 3 o'clock finish coming on. 8) 8) 8)

Calderwood after 12 new players
Superstar Tradesman replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
On paper it sounds great but considering we never pull in our first choices and usually end up with players who are no longer in favour at their current clubs then I'm not one bit excited about this. Injury prone - tick! Not getting a game - tick! Personal problems - tick! Past his best - tick! Unknown Dutch players - tick! All this searching for Dutch players, bringing them across and then how many have became main stays of the squad? Sorry to sound so down but 12 new quality players don't sign unless you've got money to burn. But in theory it sounds fantasitic..... -

Well the other ways of doing it are: • We demand he honours his contract, then he does a Kiriakov and probably doesn’t even get a game at the weekend. We end up paying for a player that doesn’t bother putting the effort into training and doesn’t play where we are then wasting a wage. • We pay off his contract for the remaining time he has left just to get him off the books which wastes money we could spend on new players. Personally I think we’ve got the best deal possible. -

Backs up my suspicion that professional footballers are the biggest bunch of drama queens out there. I've worked with hundreds of men and women who spend their working week away from their families so they can give them a better standard of living. I've also worked with plenty who have over 2 hours daily commute to and from work who just get on with it. But poor Jackie can't manage to drive up to Aberdeen a couple times a week. Tough fucking tittie. You shouldn't need to ask. If you're paying someone a wage and they're turning up fucked then either you bin them or tell them to move because it's effecting their work. Thoughts? -
He must be very frustrated at his career thus far then. Having only ever had a 2 month period at Hearts where his team mates have ever played decent football. If he's that pissed off with his team mates then he should at least attempt to make some goals off of his own back.

Willie Miller looks at positives from Dons' season
Superstar Tradesman replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I heard what's been said but don't doubt for one second that any one of them will be called up at the witching hour, when we fail miserably to fill the gaps during the transfer window. Regardless of this 'world wide search' that's supposedly going on. -

When we have Byrne, Duff, Bus, etc, waiting in the wings to step right in? Considine can at least play football and it's only his lapses of concentration that let him down. I can't ever remember being scared when he's on the ball or of him making any lunging tackles. Hopefully with more games he irons these mistakes out. -

He is actually right in what he's saying. The problem is the fans are hurting from this latest setback and no amount of talk or glossing over the bad bits will entice them back. What the club does between now and the start of next season is really going to make or break it for a few thousand season ticket holders. But it wouldn't surprise me one jot if they release a little cash, make some half decent signings, get our interest up and then sell Zander and Considine for peanuts in January and pull in some dirge to replace them. Round, round, round we go. -
Add that to the fact that Miller can't seem to run with or without the ball then you can probably see why he's only scored 3 over the last 23. I'd be interested to see what Zander & Considine have over that same period.
-
Tell me someone at the club that is.

Lost for words...
-
Other than left back, left wing a couple times and left out because he's been shite. Where else has he played?
-
Option 3 please. Steadily build year on year with what you've got, keeping the purse strings taught but also keeping a hold of your top players and moving out the dross for slight improvements. Happy fans. Happy players. Happy manager. Happy board. Happy days. Pass the medication.....
-
OK I'll bite...... Foster has been rotten this season whereas last season he finally found his niche. This season he's been doing a Zander and taking a year off having believed his good press.
-
This is true to some extent as a striker is always going to struggle to score with his back to goal. But then again, Craig Brewster managed to fill both the target man role whilst banging a fair few in and aiding with assists. Miller just seems happy for the ball to bounce off his head and look for fouls.

So folk aren't allowed to be pissed off at results now or only until a given time after the match? To me it just sounds like another thousand or so fans becoming apathetic to the cause, when performances like that are just swept under the already thread-bare red carpet.
