I heard today that Aitkens is shutting down this week, apparently they just couldn't make the business viable any longer. For a Torry loon like myself that is a crying shame, it only seems like yesterday I was scaling the fence around Torry Academy at playtime to be one of the first in line at Aitkens and secure myself a bug o brokeners for 5p. I just remembered that the Academy itself it shutting down in the summer too. I will get myself over and stock up in some of the finest wares before they shut, far more to Aitkens than just rolls, their custard slices are the stuff of legend as are their paradise slices. Their shortcrust apple pies, which come in the same shape and size as a normal pie are to die for and their pan loafs are exceptional. They also sell the best Strawberry tarts in town also using Strawberries which are in season and nae tasteless shite which we get out of season and all year round. The only baker left in Torry now is JG Ross of Inverurie and their stuff is minging. Greggs don't count as they are not a baker, they sell re-heated shyte made in Newcastle or some other shithole in England. After the game yesterday and hearing the news about Aitkens I am fairly depressed today.

The world according to TRUTH, not western lies

May said it's not about regime change, so that's OK then, I was worried for a minute it was. What worries me more than anything else is that fact the President of the USA used a social media platform to discuss the bombing another country and not one American offical thought to put the cunt in a straight jacket afterwards and cart him off to where he belongs. It is so frightening what is happening in the world at the moment and with very little protest that I am harking back to the good old days of Bush and Blair and we are still living with the mess they created, but at least there were protest movements and history showed they were wrong (Bush & Blair), but now it is seen as acceptable and no real challenge to it. Surely with a minority government at Westminster this should be challenged and potentially see off May. -
I'd love to know what Scott Wright has done to find himself so far out of the picture. We never started GMS or McGinn as they were carrying knocks, yet Wright still couldn't make the team when we were crying our for some pace out wide. I thought McGinn looked fucked when he come on and you could clearly see he wasn't fit. The downside of a manager who puts his trust in the same players every week is that if you lose a few of your first picks you have unknown quantities coming in as replacements and that was what we got today, square pegs into round holes. As bad as anything I have previously seen and seen a few horror shows over the years, but don't think I will ever witness anything as bad as Dom Balls defending at the first goal, you would have thought he must have heard of 'play to the whistle' at some point in his career up until now. Whether it was a handball or not (it was), what he did in stopping, was criminal. Arnason as well can get to fuck after that showing today, he should know better. I thought Stewart came out of the game with a little credit, but as for the rest.... I honestly think it would be better for us now to change our manager now, he has did a decent job with us for over 5 years and think a change would be of benefit to both the club and himself. We need fresh ideas and a manager who really believes in youth and gives them proper runs in the first team. Some tactical acumen and a pair of balls when playing big games wouldn't go amiss either. Fuck that was sore.

Is that the young loon who was doing pretty well for them this season, got injured a few weeks ago against Hibs? Good on the loon for leaving that asylum.

Fuck me it seems to get earlier every year. I'll renew as always but they will be told to GTF if I get any of that AberDNA shyte thrown at me when I renew. I unsubscribed from the emails because of it.

Wasn't sure where to put this incase I started off a certain someone Ex Partick and Hamilton Manager John Lambie popped his clogs today aged 77. He did a fair old job at both clubs, proper old school manager. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43714130 It maybe deserves a thread of its own in the football section, but nae chancing it.

I think we shall see some tinkering for tomorrow and wouldn't surprise me if Stewart was dropped, but doesn't deserve to be though. Be quite happy to see the team from Tuesday start again. I hope we go out and have a go at them, it's the only way we play. 1-3 Stewart, McLean and May.

Dundee have reportedly turned down a bid of over £1.3 million from Rosenburg for Steven Caulker.

That was a shock when I heard that this morning. Darts was essential TV viewing when I was a kid and Bristow was certainly one of the best, his games against John Lowe were legendary.
-
I think his play suits the Motherwell style, not sure he would be any good for us, but has looked decent enough when seen him on TV. Fair play to the loon for coming up here and making a name for himself.

I mind the Famer's Bakery. My Gran used to stay in Farmer's Hall, not from it and I used to get a funcie piece when we visited on a Saturday. That is going back a long time. Not it is the office of an Accountant. If I mind correctly Kelly of Cults used to have a shop up that way also.

That Baker was Kennedys. I served my time their. Lows in Torry was another one which bit the dust. One of the Thains bought it and went bust after a few months, a real shame that. Sunnybank Bakery was another one I remember. The Copie Baker and AB Hutchisons are another two I remember.

I wouldn't have known what cocktail was back then. I am also sure I am not the only feel in toon who has went in the 524, thinking it was an upmarket establishment, although I have never met anyone else daft enough to admit it.
-
Are they closing or just shutting up their shops outwith the main bakery? The wifie at John Street gets fairly crabbit when you ask her what's happening. She put a note on the door asking folk not to ask about the for sale sign as they haven't been told anything. I don't think it's the Dairylees Deviants who have contributed to its downfall, probably folk going to Greggs, who should be investigated by trading standards over their claim to be a bakery.

As an 18 year old back in 1991, me and a mate took a couple of girls who we were on first dates with, to the 524, as we met them up that end of George St. We quickly established it wasn't a cocktail bar and the two lasses ditched us when we got into town. We're just nipping to the toilet.....Never to be seen again.

Ronnie Ronaldo for me. Comes across as an arsehole, which is possibly just his drive and determination but his record is superb, he even managed to lead Portugal to the Euro Championship. Not much in it to be fair, both excellent players who rightly will go down as two of the best ever.

A really good win for us and at a place where we possibly expected a difficult game, but we seemed to control it for most of the game. Seem to be finding a bit of form at the right time and long may it continue. Good to see Stewart get some game time. I really think there is a player in him, how you get the best out of him consistently is one for the manager to ponder, but a run of games certainly helps. Another tricky game coming up at the weekend and we have to go in to it with the same mindset as last night and play to our strengths and not theirs. COYR

I see Ash Taylor was sent off for Northampton Town yesterday. Their manager was sacked also and they are adrift in the relegation places. A great career move by Ash.

Whilst I doubt him ever getting the West Brom job, he is probably no worse than most of the limited gene pool which constitutes the EPL managerial merry-go-round. No doubt it will go to another 'name' who has had limited success in the EPL other than a good track record of mid table mediocrity. I suspect Hollywood teeth down at Parkhead will be more of a contender than DM.

A big game in the fight for second place. Just watched the highlights from the Motherwell game against the Zombie club, which looked a decent game to be fair, but the boy Main looks impressive, the type of guy who looks like he gives defenders a torrid time, but I would imagine nothing McKenna cannot cope with, not so sure about O'Connor though, but to be fair on him, he had a good game against the Saints. I reckon we will grind out a result in this one.

Well, we started off quite shite, but what a difference a goal makes and once Christie knocked it in it was never in doubt who would win as it was one way traffic pretty much the rest of the game. Really good to see May get that goal his confidence needed and he was unlucky with a few other chances and also good to see Stewart get two goals today. I do rate Stewart as a player, he has got a good touch and vision and I think he could do a job for a lot of teams and was unlucky to be bombed out of the team with the return of Niall, especially when he was starting to hit some form. No Niall in the team today and we see Christie give his best performace since Niall returned, but I don't think he will be around next year. Hopefully after scoring a double, DM doesn't dump Stewart from the team to get Niall back in. Quite an enjoyable performace today and good to see us score a few goals and create a few other chances, the goal we lost was sloppy and the guys switched off at the corner. Was surprised to see McKenna come off, but I understand the reasoning, I had totally forgotten that Reynolds still played for us. A good win and a good performace from the team once we got going. Joe back in goal too. Hopefully we can go on a run and make a good claim for that second place, that really would knock the stuffing out of the Hun faithful.
-
Nae McGinn for this one, but Joe might feature, according to the EE. Maybe Scott Wright will come in from the cold for this one.

This is my pretty much my thoughts on the subject. All this DNA stuff is just pissing in the wind. If you want to do it then fill your boots and lap it up Milne and Co will be grateful, but not going to make to big a difference in the grand scheme of things. We need changes at every level of our game and have to work with other clubs to cut the financial gap with the Glasgow two and with a chairman who we know thinks that the OF are the greatest thing for Scottish football then don't expect much change in our financial fortunes.
