You could be right. I just thought we looked easy to play against and predictable. A lot of possession with little end product, where sitting in could easily get a 0-0 draw.
-
You must've been watching a different game to me, because I was there and it was like watching the Dons play against a bottom six team. Lots of possession and very little of anything else. Nisbet put in one of the worst performances I've seen in a Scotland top (and I was at the Iwelumo game), and I hope we don't let him near the starting eleven (or he plays and scores).

I think we're primed for a slip up here. Dykes being out is massive, Christie to a lesser extent. We just haven't found a way to play yet that doesn't involve the combination of Dykes and Adams up front. Unless the new boy is good, I just don't see how we plug the gap. If they get a goal from nothing, we're pretty much screwed as I don't see us getting two. On the plus side, they're fairly shite.

I've seen Saudi play at a world cup in the flesh. They were not very good. Good support though. Not many women.

Why is that then? It looks fairly harmless in the photo. Are they drowning, falling? Or is it just your standard Australian tourist-murder like you see in the films?

Underland by Robert McFarlane is good. I'd recommend it for Christmases.

That was fairly pish. Reminiscent of many of our games this season and last. Team comes up and hoofs us off the park for 45 minutes, carefully ensuring that each player takes a booking. The dons run out of ideas before forgetting defending. Bring on McGinn who immediately brings others into the game but the opposition are already sitting deep and we can't draw them out. Their keeper was good too. Campbell and McGeouch poor, and I couldn't work out what happened with the defence for the goals, there were gaping holes. Special mention to the Motherwell neds starting fights in the boozer. Classy.

Yes, it should. It'll be interesting to see if Hedges and Watkins being available will unlock the defences of those teams that come and sit in. I'd like to see us taking a few shots from distance early doors, see if we can get Ramirez onto any scraps in what will be interesting conditions. It might draw them put a bit and Hedges and Watkins will get in behind. If we get the first, we'll win. I'd retain the back three from the start too and avoid any mistakes.

I'd love a couple of bi-folds where the main stand entrance is. Looking out across the blaze car park. Beautiful.

It's great that the fancy images still have pittodrie in them. The colts will be in the first division by then and will need somewhere to play.

I know, I thought the anthems were before the game. Also, I missed the start because of the queues, thus was not booing.

I'd be more concerned by a government picking an arbitrary percentage from thin air. As far as I'm aware, there is no figure for herd immunity with vaccination, and we know that vaccination doesn't prevent infection (it significantly reduces the spread, slowing it). It's difficult to see what the additional single digit percentages will do, other than piss people off. It'd be very interesting to note the vaccination rates versus rates of poverty, ethnicity and educational outcomes in the various districts too. Given that vaccination's ability to reduce the rate of spread decreases after a few months, you need a population that is increasingly less skeptical over time in order that they get boosters when required, so to take such a coercive approach - using arbitrary round numbers - to cajole people into getting vaccinated seems, to me, to be completely counterintuitive or, perhaps, setting people up to take the blame. If a reasonable person such as yourself is already calling a minority freaks then it seems likely that the division is already well sown and anyone spreading malicious anti vaccine messaging (as opposed to those who are just frightened) has done their job.

Having waited about four months to sit my bike theory test, I'd be trying to book your theory asap, as it might take ages. You could always reschedule if your provisional isn't sorted in the interim. Have to admit, I assumed that your provisional PCV was just your driving licence. Maybe best phone someone in the know.

Jacob Brown called up to the Scotland squad. Stoke winger, sounds like he might be in the Philips or Burke mode of athletic runner. Interestingly could have two black players up front for Scotland in one game, which must be a record.

I don't think he was. Walters got abuse all over Scotland. I don't think that the Huns are traditionally more racist than the rest of us. Their players were the victims of racism very recently. I'm guessing it was just an observation that was maybe of interest rather than a specific point, which there's nothing wrong with at all (I'm not suggesting you think there is). Given only 96% of Scotland is white, it's an interesting observation. A more interesting one would be the lack of Scottish players in their squad.

Gordon is one of the few keepers who I've seen at pittodrie this century, where I've been celebrating goals before realising he's actually saved it. He did it a few times in his first spell for hearts and I was on my feet again at the weekend. It was the strength of his hand behind the save. Some keepers would have got to it as quickly, but not many would have kept it out. Birmingham are pretty good for an over payment in January, maybe give them a shout. Otherwise a 6 month loan back with £4M up front from Watford or whoever.

I think that's probably the difference between watching midfielders, specifically, on the TV rather than at games. You miss a lot of the work they do, alongside the position that they leave others in. Flood was okay on the ball and hassling defenders, but Jack would constantly have to cover for him because of his positional indiscipline. Because Flood was seen to be doing the press, he'd look like the proactive guy doing all the work, rather than the man leaving gaping holes behind him. Jack was absolutely brilliant at reading the game and placing himself where the game was heading. Ferguson, several times yesterday got ahead of the game in both attack and defence being in the right place for the break. His reading of the game is very good, but he's struggled this season with the formation and is noticeably better since the Hibs game (although I think, like Jack, his head goes down too quickly, hence his form dips when the team's does). What he did well yesterday was use the space he got on the ball to try the quick passes through to the strikers, which has been missing all season, mostly due to pish movement in front. He still has acres to go in terms of improvement, but he's good enough to get there. He's as good as Jack was at his age. Campbell should be in that league too, and could be if he takes his chance. His positional sense is also very good (hence he can drop into fullback in a way that Ojo can't) but his awareness of the pass is much better (although he'll also give the ball away trying the difficult pass more often). If he could work on his physical side, he'd be better than Ferguson, he's just not aggressive enough. I'd take the £6M for Ferguson in January and give Campbell an extended run there.

I disagree with you both, Ferguson was really good today. Not as good as Brown, but good. He had two great passes to setup both Watkins and Hedges and his movement was excellent throughout (which wouldn't have been that obvious if you weren't there I expect), making space for others as well as taking up good position. He was also easily a physical match for their midfield.

That was an enjoyable afternoon. A good all round performance again and a deserved victory. We were good in the first half, but playing within ourselves and unlucky to go a goal down. Brilliant switch at half time from Glass, moving the outstanding Brown into midfield, allowing Ferguson to move around a bit (which he did very well). The defence seemed to carry the confidence in playing the back 3/5 into the four in the second, with few slip ups. The midfield were excellent and the front three chased everything. Ojo was cautious at right back, which served him well. I'd like to see more from Campbell, but he did well enough. Great to see that utter Hun mink losing it towards the end. Nowhere near good enough for the spfl and embarrassing that hearts still have the guy in their squad. Although it would be nice if some of the pundits told it like it was and called it him out for his constant thuggery. I remember pundits actually calling Goodwin out, and halliday is significantly worse.
