Jet phenomenal on the ball, some lovely touches and passes, but he can't track back or mark. They need to work round that or take him off. Ramsay started brilliantly, but the booking has hindered him and I think I'd take Gallagher on for him and McRorie into right back. McRorie poor for the first goal, but also Ramsay has to double up too to support him. Second was poor from Ramsay, had he not been on a booking he would have likely dealt with it. Considine could have done better.
-
Poor start. Should be two or three up by now. Ramsay been terrible with his complete confidence on the ball and assist.
-
His goals got them promoted so a decent return, I think they were right to hold onto him. I never really expected him to cut it in the top league, he always looked a bottom six player. Really well done to him though to get back on his feet after leaving the dons. A lesser man would have left the game. Hopefully he takes up the Belgians' offer and goes onto better things. I just see him as one of those in-between players who hasn't got the strength to be a target man or the pace to be a top level striker, but then I probably see that in Ramirez (and maybe even Rooney) too so it could be a case of being a better player when part of a better team.

Hopefully Ojo drops out for Hedges with everything else the same. Gallagher for McRorie would be fine but possibly undeserved. 0-6, Jet with the last, Considine the first five.

I think you have to undergo a rectal covid test and hand over all online passwords for entry into pubs in Aberdeen these days. I've been doing that anyway, just to be safe.
-
No, I think it's Calvin Ramsay at just over £99M

Well the BBC coverage has been fairly rank this time around. It's 80% filler, 20% highlights because Discovery bought the rights a while back. It's also very partisan too. It's not at the obscene level of the English football coverage, but it's not far off.

Fuck sake, I actually looked it up when I saw the potential opponents too then proceeded to convince myself the opposite of what the internet told me.

We actually could be in a similar situation to the last time we played them, especially if Hedges moves on. If we get an injury to Ramirez or Jet*, we're going to have zero options up front. That was exactly what happened last time and we dicked about on a striker and didn't win because of it. We need to get another striker on the books asap as neither Jet nor Ramirez on their own look like they'll be good enough to perform the solo striker role. *Rooney was out for the Limassol game

Dons - arabs - first game of the season

Well he got 2 X 20 plus goal seasons and that should be Ramirez's aim. It was a good strikers goal yesterday, but he's not been convincing in his movement in the first few games, looks slow and not quite fit. That should hopefully come in the next few weeks (or even sooner). What was interesting was the lack of options when he went off. Jet was considerably worse when he moved onto their centre halves, and with nothing to aim at it did actually remind me of Cosgrove in there under McInnes. Ramirez kept defenders high and Jet came deep and sometimes wide to collect the ball. When he went off the ball just came back at us as it did for much of last season. It's not a workable solution and we need another option when Ramirez comes off. -
Limassol or qarabag it is. Probably the most winnable.

North West England I believe. -
Pawlett had a gold medal contender today like, was magnificent.

Just back, good solid performance. Good game management from McI... Glass for the last twenty! Fantastic play from Ramsay for the second goal and great movement from Ramirez. Jet looked good again and after a few shaky moments at the back, McRorie and Considine looked very good (to the extent I think Gallagher will have to wait a bit longer). I'd give Hayes man of the match though, his workrate and movement was really good as well as tracking back when required. Still not convinced that Ojo offers anything high right or left but he worked hard. Crying out for someone like Hedges coming on to offer a bit of pace against the fullback. McLennan wasn't great when he came on. McKenzie really good today too. -

It'll be an interesting one, looking forward to it. I'm not sure how our European performances will transpose domestically. Despite five goals in the opening fixture, we're a little light up front. McInnes understood the logic of scoring the first goal to return the most points. It'll be interesting to see if Glass' team can overcome that barrier, thus allowing us to play a bit more open. I've a feeling that we'll put McRorie at right back and Gallagher in the centre which would give us less threat than with Ramsay in my opinion. I'm going for 3-1 the dons, with Ferguson, Hedges and Jet getting the goals. -
Quadruplets.
-
Hope the announcer mentions it at the game and the crowd sing happy birthday.

The point of Europe is to make it as hard as possible for the big teams to fuck it up by allowing them 87 defeats before ejection.

Yep, who is our ref on Sunday. I think he's vastly improved, which I may regret saying. Well that was an all round average display in difficult conditions on a plastic pitch, but they did well to get the aggregate win all things considered. Ojo and Ramirez were poor tonight, and the lack of striker sub becomes an issue. Things move through JET in a way that they don't at all through Jenks, who I thought was poor. That area of the pitch becomes a concern outwith the starting 11 and I'm surprised that McGinn wasn't given some minutes tonight as I felt that he could have added a bit of composure where Hedges was a little bit 100mph. Brown and Ferguson excellent in midfield again, and I think we'll see Gallagher step in for McRorie (unfortunately I think it might be at the expense of Ramsay with McRorie at right back). Hayes will struggle to keep his position ahead of McKenzie who did well when he came on. We're through though which is fantastic and the Icelandic team should be of similar quality to Hacken. I'm still unsure as to how we'll look against SPFL opposition, so Sunday will be intriguing. First thoughts are still that we're lacking in depth up front, and hopefully the new recruitment guy has downloaded the files from his Burnley PC and got a few gems to share. Someone fast to stretch the game in the second half would have been ideal, with Ramirez putting in a tiring shift.

Fucking statues. I don't think the world needs more statues. What about Chris Anderson, Dick Donald, Teddy Scott, Miller, McLeish, Considine etc? AFC is more than a series of individuals. Statues are for losers. Like the queen.
-
Probably, but the coaching staff should always make the decision. I personally think that in lieu of pre-season the additional games form a vital part of the fitness regime. If Brown is forming part of our best eleven then he needs to start this one given the lack of games. Take him off at 70 minutes.
-
Bit harsh on Hedges. Easily the fittest player in our squad last season and was only a freak accident that put him out. He's not exactly pawlett, Wright or Devlin (RIP? I assume he's dead?).
-
I love Hedges, it was Panda that shoved that upstart McLennan into the team.
-
I suppose a lot will depend on whether they want to get a few more minutes in their legs or not. I'd agree that Brown will need rested, bit maybe not this early where match sharpness is key. I'm thinking Gallagher might be the only change (maybe Jenks for Ojo), and it'll be interesting to see if McRorie is shifted to right back at the expense of Ramsay, which would be a shame (for both really, as McRorie was excellent in the first leg).

Jet was head and shoulders above Ramirez last night, he was excellent. I don't remember him giving the ball away once from a position that would have caused us trouble, although he didn't track his man at one point (which I think eventually led to their goal) but he was unexpectedly covering Hedges and wasn't prepared. The times he did give the ball away were when he was trying to make something happen, which is completely acceptable. We were very guilty of not trying things under McInnes for fear of giving it away. Many of the chances we created through jet last night would have been a sideways pass last season. I was unconvinced by Ramirez last night, but he certainly does have the potential to be a Rooney. His movement needs to improve a bit, but given he's on a new continent with a completely different game it'll maybe take time. He's about the size, stature and pace of Rooney anyway. Jet being there will be a huge benefit to him.
