Just tuned in for the final 15, seen a lot worse! McGinn looking decent, McLennan looking pish. Sibbald shouldn't be on the park, but they should be one up after the pass back from McLennan. Pitch looks deliberately dry meaning the ball is holding up. We've had a few decent chances. It's frustrating because once again if we just scored a single goal the game would open up and be far better to watch. A finisher would have bagged Henry's header.

Ten in a single window would be a relative disaster. Pragmatism would be to keep a few. There's no way we're signing ten players better than McGinn, so I'd say another year would be a no brainer. Anderson as backup too perhaps. We don't have the capacity or scouting ability at the club to get eight further good signings so I'm guessing we'll concentrate on 3-4 players who are known quantities, good quality, low risk signings. The guys being mentioned probably fit that bill, alongside Brown if he's fit enough. If we can get four permanent in and perhaps pad out with some good loanees later in the window. Make a few more in January. Worth saving some budget for then to give us a good idea of what's needed.

I had a double take when I read that.
-
Been linked with McGrath at St Mirren. Really good player. I'm surprised there hasn't been a lot of hype around him to be honest. I'm assuming we're looking at a 3-7-0 next season.
-
I thought both Ramsay and Campbell were poor at the weekend. A fairly pointless three games on the whole. Maybe give Ruth and Ross some more game time. Hopefully we relax and play with a bit of freedom. Might as well. Then the following two games can be used in as an exercise in hacking.
-
Come on, it'd make training a lot more fun with him and Brown there.

There are plenty of players with enough skill in our team to overcome united. Kamberi is skillful, but he was playing dogshite after a decent performance against the Tim. It's obvious that his tracking back leaves a lot to be desired and his decision making poor, so don't chip little balls to him with his back to goal on the half way line. If a team is pressing you then stretch them and go long into the channels so that they have to hold off on the press for fear of losing it in behind. Don't just continue to pass the ball out from the back because that's what you've seen on the telly. That's the sort of pish we saw when Sheerin was in charge for a couple of games. It's childish, naive, nonsense. It's the exact crap we saw from McGhee where he would try and play one way and not recognise when it was failing. Similarly, when you've had two hard games in a week where players were struggling towards the end, use the squad. Get Ross in for McGinn, Hornby for Kamberi or Henry, McGeouch for Campbell. When players are tired, there not going to perfectly play your Dutch total football game from the back and it's when you make your mistakes. New signings or not, Glass cannot lay down a style of play and insist that everyone does it regardless, that's just stupid. You have to work with what you've got and adapt that style to suit who's on the pitch as well as recognising that when they're not fresh they'll react differently. We're not going to be buying our way out of this in the summer, we've got guys on contracts that will be here next season and guys that when played correctly will happily take us to third in the league alongside some good quality signings. I don't buy the "clear out" shit, it's simply not happening. The guys out of contract will mostly leave of course, but there's still a significant portion of that team that are here next season. Furthermore, I fucking hate the "it's not his team" shit that gets trailed out every time a manager joins a club. It's the very definition of a manager that you work with players to understand their strengths and weaknesses and maximise those strengths by playing to suit the majority in the team. Even when you sign new players, you're always going to make errors, and those errors are no different to accepting a previous managers signings. That's where the skill of a manager comes into play. That's what Clarke did so well at Killie, he recognised inividual players' strengths and maximised those. Hopefully Glass gets a good summer and brings in 3-4 really good players that can bring the best out of the guys we've still got just as Watkins, Wright and Hedges did earlier in the season. I don't believe he's a terrible manager based on a few games, but he certainly shouldn't be immune from criticism for making basic errors that an experienced manager should deal with. Just as he should be given zero credit for "saying the right things". We've gone down the route of an inexperienced manager who is still learning, we'll have to accept that he's going to make errors along the way. He's a fairly intelligent guy who'll likely work things out pretty quickly. It's a high risk strategy, but that's fine, it'll make things exciting.

You genuinely think that we're going to be making more than four successful signings in the summer? Woods/Lewis, Considine, Hayes, Ferguson, Campbell, Ramsay, McGeouch, Kennedy all under contract so likely staying and I wouldn't be surprised to see McGinn getting another year too. Plus McRorie. To be honest, I think with a striker or two in there, Hedges back and another couple we've got the makings of a decent team, just as we had at the beginning of the season. But injuries to those new signings, or just them turning out to be shite will mean that the players we saw today will form a large part of next season's squad. I think it would be entirely unrealistic to expect many more than 4 good signings (6-7 signings in total, at a 60% success rate) in a window and I don't see us operating with a massive squad either.
-
Aye. It was an entirely different kettle of fish that day, where we were tactically okay but Taylor kept passing the ball to them in front of goal. Ironically, we could have been doing with Taylor today, Hoban was awful.
-
To be honest, I didn't see much of the touchline, I'm not sure what Glass was doing, but you could see the tactics and the lack of subs. Important to bear in mind that we recently played utd and their pressing of our short game was there for all to see, and taking Hornby on against them in the second half allowed us to play it longer and keep the ball at the right end of the pitch. It was about the 10th time Kamberi received the ball in his own half under pressure that led to the goal, it was obvious that was highly risky.
-
I agree, but McInnes wouldn't have lost that 3-0, there was some ridiculously naive tactics and very little attempt to change it. These are actually the types of games that McInnes would grind out draws and wins in. Whilst these aren't Glass' players, it's fucking obvious what their strengths and weaknesses are and he shouldn't be exacerbating them. McInnes was good at building points, which was done even with players missing at times. This side today are probably 3-4 players away from what we'll likely see next season, so including injuries this is what Glass will have to deal with at times.
-
That's a fairly rank half of football. Similar to the shite we did against them last time. Poncing about at the back trying to play football when they're closing us down. It's fucking ridiculous. Kamberi has been poor but it doesn't matter because every single pass he's recieving his a chipped ball into his chest within our own half. These balls have to be 20 yards further up the park. As soon as he loses it we're under huge pressure. We all know Campbell can take the ball deep, but it's fucking useless against a press. Mix it up and get the ball into the channels, get Henry involved. Ramsay not good enough yet, not sure why the fuck he was marking Edwards at the corner, he's not strong enough. Hoban been really bad. Expect Hornby to appear and for us to play higher up the park. Doubt it'll make much difference.
-
Can he not just get a super injunction to allow him to keep battering his wife in private? He'll definitely have increased his chances of getting the Huns gig post Gerrard.
-
Hibs will get a significant portion of McGinn's next move apparently, so if we've played our hand correctly then if McKenna is starting for his next club and earns a move then we might get another windfall. Also, it's a good advert for the dons. Unlike the dirty Hun Wright.
-
I'd be surprised if he doesn't get a move soon he's got the physique and aggression to play higher and can raise his game when required. Whilst Hanley has clearly done well at a better side, McKenna is miles ahead of where he was at that age and is obviously just a better player. Saw some of his stats earlier in the season, maybe Christmas time, and he was in the top two or three defenders in the league (going by the stats they used, which may be a bag of shite of course). Some lower EPL team should take a punt on him as he'd be great value, with a lot of space for improvement. One thing I think would be an issue is if he goes somewhere and isn't starting. I don't think he'd be suited to being a bit part player and it could have a negative effect.
-
Nah, it's Considine, check it on the BBC highlights, they're up. It's a fairly perfect cross like, a good area. Similar to McGinn's cross against Livi that Hornby made a cunt of. The point is that the attacker just has to take a few steps to meet it. I agree with Sancho that Ramsay was at fault, but there were two others there too and Ramsay was clearly struggling with cramp a few minutes earlier. Kennedy did well helping him out previously but probably could have done more.
-
I think it was Considine. It was a really good cross, very difficult for the defender. The fault was with the three players that didn't prevent the cross coming in, or even making it difficult. I thought we were decent last night, but I didn't see anything we wouldn't have under McInnes (the 3-3 earlier in the season was a much more accomplished performance), which is to be expected. What we did see is a team that's had its confidence raised a little by the new manager, responding well to some simple instructions. Ferguson starting to look back to the way he was playing at the start of the season and he should have put that chance away after the lovely through ball from Brown. Hopefully we can do the business at the weekend and give us another game to look forward to, and hopefully the players can just enjoy the remainder of the season.
-
Collum was 400 times better than the guy at the weekend. Would like to see the Turnbull incident again, I think it's a red but not sure. Definitely not a pen for Hayes, just ran out of steam.
-
Decent line up. Guessing Henry through the middle and Kamberi wide, with McGinn tanking about wherever, getting ready to not celebrate after scoring. Looking forward to it.

But what actually happened? Guys like Milne sided with the Tims so that the actual things that matter don't change. We set the stage perfectly for a triumphant Hun return. The fans had a say in absolutely nothing. What happens if this super League shite doesn't happen? A return to the ultra fair closed shop champions League? A proper discussion about the fairness of the game, fan ownership, equality, integrity, competition? It's the equivalent of voting for labour, but still being left with Westminster. It's what isn't talked about that's the issue, not this pish. It's fucking staggering the outrage at such an obvious conclusion to the game at that level. Where did those club's fans think that they were headed? They're just disappointed that they had the audacity to not maintain the illusion of fairness and sporting merit. That's why the politicians are involved, these clubs broke the golden rule by forgetting to pretend that they were doing it for the good of the game. They forgot the greenwash. Edit: they made the cardinal sin of not wrapping their statement in: "we here at the Liverpool family..."
-
Will be really interesting to see how we approach this one. I don't think they'll struggle to get themselves back to speed for this one. Their record is fairly good against anyone who isn't the Huns with a massive goal difference and on track to get to 80 points. We'll be confident following the cup win, but there were still some glaring deficiencies in our game. Will be interesting to see if McRorie plays at right back or if we go with an extra man in midfield. He's been poor for quite some time now and he was way off it again against Livi. I don't know if Glass would risk Ramsay and McKenzie, but it would be justified. I can't see McRorie being dropped though, which is one of the dilemmas we're going to have next season when we're completely overloaded in midfield.
-
It would revitalise it, but it wouldn't answer the question of what we want from a league, just as it didn't when the huns died. I'd rather be in a position where any of the top tier could win the league (within a couple of years of promotion, say). A proper competition for proper sport. That would mean that we wouldn't get to keep any european money, and would require that TV money was split evenly. Customers through the door would still go to the clubs, but the issue that sees us with 4 times the budget of Hamilton is no better than the one that see the huns and tims buy their success. If that means [total] wage caps or whatever, then I'm all for it. The whole league has to improve together or not at all. I don't believe for a second that this would happen of course. Our greed is just less succesful than the cheeks.
-
He's a clever lad that Mourinho, always looks out for himself. Failing in the role and sees a way out whilst at the same time retaining complete integrity. He'll likely join Juve in September.
-
Absolutely. However, it's fairly clear that we'd become the new huns. Without complete restruction, wealth sharing and competition as the main driver we'd pick up a fairly unfair share of the revenues coming into the game. The scum need the colts in the league first before they fuck off as the uproar would be too big were they to be let in afterward. What would likely occur, however, is that the scum fans would likely try to setup some fan owned franchise of both teams that made their way up through the pyramid, possibly even utilising their grounds. I'd struggle to see a barrier to that other than some form of sterilisation program.
-
It's not really suspicious though is it? I don't think they've tried to hide their intentions to fuck off and leave a B team in our league setup.
