  1. It does, however surely you're not exempt from buying a good player in a tax scam?
  2. There clearly is. As evidenced by Hayes himself, who's best career spell was at AFC under current management. As evidenced by Hedges current form, Ferguson, McKenna, Considine etc etc. Kennedy is far from a shirker, his workrate is excellent, it's his ability in the final third and probably his lack of confidence in his own ability. Like Hayes, he keeps trying, but his head isn't in time with his legs and he resorts to putting his head down when it should be up and vice versa. I think it'll click with him at some point, it's just whether we believe he's worth persisting with. He reminds me of McGinn a few years back. Nothing was coming off for him going forward but he never shirked his defensive responsibilities.
  3. I don't think he was that good at saints, just had a good game against us once, which he's well capable of. He's been asked to do a difficult job at wing back for us, and he's doing okay overall, but not great. Defensively, he's tracking his man and not giving much away. In attack, he's struggling to find the energy to get beyond his man and get a cross in. I think that McLennan was doing a better job before the u21 covid and was hard done by not to retain his position. I'm guessing there's a bit of politics in there, given the board freed up the cash for him in January. Thing is, Kennedy could easily be the next Hayes if he just improves that final third part of his game. All it will take is a little bit more effort, because he has the attributes. He's just breathing out his airse a little when he needs that final bit of composure. His crosses always seem a little tired at the end of a run, or he makes the cross from too deep rather than run at the player.
  4. Hell of a goal like. Was always the best of the Ross's at the club. Just need to get that final bit of his development right (the hardest part) and he'll be another great player. Doubt we'll see him this season, but definitely one for next. Raith probably quite a good fit for him too. Not convinced with Ayr for Anderson, I think he might have done better at a team like Raith. You wonder if we have any real plan when sending players out on loan, if we check the style of play and the squad that a player will be joining or if we just take what's on offer.
  5. I'd give McLennan another opportunity there, he was okay against killie. Don't think McGinn is fit enough at the moment to do the required workrate, but I'd happily see him play 30 minutes there. Kennedy was gash there the only time he played in that role and was quickly moved wide, I forget who against, and he's okay defensively at wing back so best to stay there. Cosgrove needs to be given a run of games with our best formation and setup, when we're keeping the ball on the ground. That doesn't involve Main or Edmondson. They should just be subs for him, rather than alongside him.
  6. They actually improved on the wrong side of the pitch. Kennedy reminds me of Hayes in his first season. Needs to work on hitting the byline and hammering the ball in. McLennan was performing well on the right prior to the covid quarantine, feel a bit sorry for him as he didn't deserve to be dropped. Anyway, another three points leaves us on a fairly impressive total so far all things considered. With Wright back in a week or two, hopefully we'll see the end of the front two of Main and Cosgrove, or Cosgrove and Edmondson for a while. Thought Taylor was very good again today. If the last three games were his first for the club you'd have thought you'd signed a great player. He looked comfortable on the ball, great in the air and with good positioning. We await the implosion.
  7. Agree with this, think Kennedy has been poor since signing and McLennan would have been a better use of resources. Think McGinn is still a little unfit, but he should be able to play alongside Cosgrove. Once again Cosgrove is given game time with a poorer lineup than Watkins and Main were given. He's been playing poorly and needs all the help he can get, why you'd play Main alongside him god only knows (I suspect god probably doesn't know and is saying so on the BBC). It's one or the other. The answer is to get that number ten replacement, so give McLennan a bit more time to attempt it and accept he'll take a few games to get used to it (assuming McGinn isn't fit). Anyway, a really nice turn and hit from Cosgrove near the end and a good pen. The ref has done his absolute best to ruin the game and the penalty was a terrible decision clearly made because he thought there might have been a pen a few seconds earlier (which definitely wasn't either). They've been the better team, but didn't really deserve their goal either. I think the conditions are having a wee bit of an effect, requiring players to take an extra touch and making it difficult for strikers in both sides to take it down.
  8. Yep, was never going to work, just makes them both worse. Fucking about with the sub, way too late in the first place, ensured Edmondson got a whole three minutes to make a difference. It was obvious a change was required at 65-70 minutes, especially with 800 subs available. Defence were very good, Taylor especially.
  9. Never use your right foot again Hedges
  10. That'll be him now...
  11. Same team as last week? Would like to see McLennan playing advanced again. Kennedy fine out wide, but I thought he was poor when he played near the striker. McLennan just needed a bit of composure and he'd have had a good game against killie, so definitely worth another shot.
  12. I thought it was their paralysis of mind over what to do every twenty years that Scotland qualify for a tournament. I think there was also the argument that folk had better things to do in the summer than watch fitba. Certainly debatable, but could easily be remedied by moving more kick offs to evenings. I'd be all for it, but they'd have to do it properly and sell it as an entire package of changes around levelling up the game, SPFL TV, 16 team league etc etc. Our current thinkers would limply push it out to avoid hearts getting relegated or some shite.
  13. If you've not already done so, dark waters is a must watch. Really good.
  14. I think killie's pitch is decent. I'm pretty certain there's been no link found between artificial surfaces and injury (discounting wearing blades of course, McGhee). There should be no reason for a player to have to avoid them. The biggest issue with these pitches is that you can get really bad ones like Livingston, and you can alter the bounce significantly by not watering etc. Overall, killie's has performed really well over the years, when likes of Hamilton's was atrocious (much improved in recent years). Our climate seems to have changed just enough that we haven't had complete states of grass pitches in the last few years, but for a good few years pittodrie, and many others including Hampden were like playing on a tattie field and it was largely ignored.
  15. Ah, that makes sense, I didn't think I came up with that stat on my own, I must have heard it on the commentary.
  16. Have we lost a game where we've been in front this season? It's a fairly rare thing under McInnes to be fair to him.
  17. Cormack park. Training too hard. You do wonder if they're conditioned and monitored when they're staying behind to do extra free kicks, gym work etc. Cosgrove's poor form hit right around the time we moved there and he went from having really improved his workrate to breathing out his airse after 70 minutes. It'd be interesting to know what the process was moving to Westhill. Westhill is fucking freezing too, and nae a nice cold like by the sea, but that dead cold.
  18. Campbell has done a lot better since getting an actual midfield partner alongside him and might be trusted. McRorie is suspended for the following game, so we'll have to put Campbell there at some point. I thought McRorie's positioning was a little suspect at times at centre half at the weeked, I don't think moving him back and forth works well either. Maybe the 4-4-2 would do the job, I just don't think it suits us in attack and will give McInnes the idea of playing Main and Cosgrove which I think would be brutal. We should just pioneer a 2-5-3 system.
  19. Didn't realise Leigh was out too, we really will be struggling. I agree with McInnes about Taylor, I thought he had an excellent game at the weekend. I think we'll see Logan move in alongside to complete the three, he's still fast enough to cover that area with Ash coming across to win the headers.
  20. Aye, it'll be interesting. A good book on the subject is "Feeding Britain: Our food Problems and How to Fix Them" by Tim Lang. Unfortunately, we haven't done any of the fixing part yet, so it could get interesing. If anyone didn't learn from the pandemic that our just in time food network was a really serious issue then perhaps a No Deal Brexit (I actually think they'll do something this week) will concentrate minds. To be honest, the unintended consequence of Brexit might be that we massively increase our food growing at home, and that would be a good thing. The other likelihood is that we run down the shelves so much that the public soften to the influx of US abomination-diet and a deal is quickly pushed through, but we only have to further privatise the NHS (it won't be sold as that of course) in return. As part of the deal, It'll probably be made illegal for Scotland to hold another referendum.
  21. Fuck. Fit's the prognosis like?
  22. Aye, shree year deal I would think. I find it difficult not to love Yogi like, he's brilliant fun. Relegating Raith is definitely the path to a job in the premiership. It's the managerial equivalent of signing Derek Young from first division Partick Thistle because he's good to have about the place. I hope he keeps them up though, I like County. If he does take them down, it'll end in a massive rant about modern players caring about their haircuts more than football or some accidental racism about our foreign boys not being up for it in the conditions. Welcome back Yogi.
  23. Yogi returns. Fantastic. Long overdue. Hopefully we'll make it shree victories over them this season the next time we play them.
  24. Yep, there's no way Wales manager Ryan Giggs would accept a one footed left pegger in his team.
  25. He did really well for the third goal, but shouting in the Hertz player's face was minky as fuck and likely should have been a booking if the ref had spotted it. Trying to get a player (Naismith) sent off also used to be a booking(as he did in the league cup final a few years back against us when trying to get Jack sent off) but not today. He hid for most of the game, a shadow of the player from even last season.
