Isn't Tierney playing left of a three for arsenal? Anyway, I think he'll go Tierney, McKenna, Gallagher. As good as Gallagher has performed, he's very weak on one on one's, being extremely slow to turn. We've been quite lucky to have been up against poorer opposition when he's been in, and I think he could easily get caught against a better front line. That said, McTominay is a liability positionally, and McKenna has his weaknesses too so I'm probably being too harsh. I think the pace of Tierney would compliment the bigger defender in the centre quite nicely and I'd probably play Tierney, McKenna, McTominay, although it would be exceptionally harsh on Gallagher.

Great start. Two great finishes. Some terrible defending by them. Cosgrove exactly what we've been missing with that finish, it was like Rooney, just total confidence that he was scoring. However, he looks about 70% fit and is offering very little else. Not showing for Hoban and Considine who've both chipped several balls down the line for him and he's stopped running. Give him another 15 to gain some fitness and get Edmondson on (or Main, for a laugh). Kennedy makring Boyle with ease, and Ferguson and McRorie looking good. Considine not playing well, must be the jitters ahead of the international week and the big 500 coming up. Hedges not doing too much, but a good all round performance so far.

Surely at some point we can accept that a team with good players picked us off twice in quick succession? We've all seen our previous Hampden games where we haven't touched the ball for 20 minutes, with 48 mean behind the ball and then lost 2 goals and we have to get the bus home, but that wasn't what it was like last week and I think we're letting those previous performances - understandably - cloud our judgement. It was an even game before Christie's goal, we'd had a couple of good crosses in the box via Kennedy and we also had the subsequent Hedges chance, with them having not much to write home about.

I think Celtic have had a very good team up until this season, and we've had three seasons of having a fairly pish team. I think we approached the last two games quite differently to prior seasons based on that fact, and I didn't think we played with fear at all in either. We didn't sit back in either, we were organised and created more chances against them than we have in the entirety of the last three years. We simply switched off at Hampden and lost two stupid goals which not only knocked the stuffing and belief (which we definitely had the previous week, it can't be denied) out of us but gave them (the Tims) the confidence to play at the level they're capable of when they're not bottling it. We went into the game believing we could win it and trying to win, but we didn't believe that we could come back from a two goal deficit and they didn't believe they'd lose it. To me it was a prime example of just how easy it is to get picked off against the Tims, who have quality players despite being in poor form. I agree with Tup about Christie, but his goal was a result of sloppy defending that wouldn't have been punished against ten other teams in the league (including us... maybe McGinn?), which is why I get frustrated with "just go for it" comments as if we're playing against cardboard cutouts. Tonight will be a big test again though and I hope we're up for it. McGeouch and Watkins being out hopefully makes team selection easier and I really hope we see Wright and Hedges close to each other through the middle behind the front man (Cosgrove for me, but happy with Edmondson, Main would be shotgun to the head territory).

I thought we played some okay stuff at times against the Tims with Cosgrove in the team. Especially in the first game. I'd agree, he looked unfit, but I still think he offers more than Edmondson. Again, the key will be keeping Wright and Hedges high up alongside him and not reverting to Hedges out wide. To me, the team picks itself with Hayes and Watkins out, with Kennedy, Ferguson, McRorie and McLennan behind Wright, Cosgrove and Hedges. I'd keep Taylor in because I think Devlin is worse. McRorie had his best game for us against Hibees last time around and I'd say he's not been nearly as good in the last few games, so a goal from him will do the business. Dons 6 - Hibs 2 Cosgrove x 3, McRorie, Hoban, Wright Might put £100 on it, as I'm fairly confident.

I thought he had a poor game yesterday. Gave the ball away a couple of times when he'd normally do better. Not great conditions, but no real excuse. Agree with your description of the above, it was like he was caught in two minds, ball watching in the end underneath it. It would have perhaps been difficult to clear with a header though, it did fall at an awkward height - in between head and a comfortable leg height - which perhaps caught him out. As I mentioned in the other thread that the ball should never have got to him in the first place, it was really poor closing down by Hoban, who had plenty of time to get in between man and cross, he should have been ushering Rogic out of the box with ease - he was just too casual. However, a man with 500 games under his belt should see his performance yesterday as below par.

I wouldn't find it acceptable if that's what happened, but it wasn't. He was hesitant because he was holding the line with the back three, which was probably a couple of yards further back than it should have been. But the blatant error was between McRorie and Kennedy. That type of scenario occurs one hundred times a game, they should know that one stays on the ball, the other goes with the runner. Considine shouldn't have been involved in that move at all, it should have been dealt with. The second is Considine's fault, getting completely caught under it a yard out, but again that ball shouldn't have been anywhere near him. Hoban should never be allowing that ball to be crossed and is probably a better example of someone ambling like a 60 year old. Anyway, we've actually been significantly better than previous encounters against them, we've not exactly sat back. Hedges should be shooting after that great pass from Wright and we've had a lot of possession in good areas. Can't fault McInnes' approach to the game, just they're a good team who'll punish the slightest mistake. I think we've got a goal in us, hopefully it'll come early enough for us to get back in it.
