Bring him home

Fucking hell, 35 this year. Fantastic right back for the Dons in his day...
-
It's a good one like. If I were a young red-shedder, I'd be on it. It fits pretty well with general football songery. Sevco killer (Keskinen) Fa fa fa etc better Run run run run, run run run all day Ohhhhhooo Repeat
-
It's good that Queens get their big day out after that near banana skin in the last round.
-
Maybe he just looks small next to Tobers. He didn't look 6ft2 up against their defenders at corners either, maybe they just had big players. We're all good then.
-
Aye, bobbly shite suits them. Turgid game like. Anyway, I'll take Tims at home in the next round. Get it over and done with.
-
Both the Paisley and Perth Saints' pitches are considerably worse than a decent plastic surface just now. Makes a mockery of the decision to ban them, the league should be enforcing standards.
-
Jambos looking like making us wait for the draw with their equaliser. Dicks.
-
Looked decent at the weekend. Can use his left foot and was comfortable in the ball and read the game well. However, he did seem a little small for an SPFL centre half. Maybe a bit of Richard Jensen about him? In that sort of in-between category, where he's got some good attributes but overall just not quite good enough. It'll be interesting to see, because the strength and height thing is a big issue in our league. Simon Murray will be a good barometer of his abilities.

These types of incident happen all the time. What we were told previously is that if the attacking player isn't getting the ball then it shouldn't be a foul unless it's for violent conduct or some such. Of course, I don't think that is actually written into the rules, just the general advice for refs and VAR officials. The cross was shite, and was squarely on the head of the defender. The Hun would have had to have fouled him to get anywhere near winning that ball. Edit: obviously, they were also given a few extra minutes and a couple of corners after missing the penalty too
-
It was the most ridiculous penalty ever. That it wasn't overturned was even worse. They don't even pretend.

Aye, my doubts around Marshall are his pace, and obviously he's not physically robust enough yet. Looks like he can play fitba.

We're giving our opinion on a new player, it's nothing to get concerned about. We've all been wrong before and I'll happily be wrong again. It's kind of the point of football forum to give initial thoughts and predictions. Nobody is booing the lad or telling him to fuck off back to Scandinavia. The point I was making is that I don't think he can play multiple positions at all. We've not signed a utility player, we've signed a right back. He was poor at left back, just as Dorrington is poor at left centre half, because it's not his position. It's like me putting waiter on my CV because I was one decades ago. Devlin has played across the back for us (about ten minutes at left back), and could be better called a utility player, as could MacKenzie. At most, then, Jensen can play two positions, and one of them poorly. Also, he hasn't really been attacking or getting up and down in any of the games. Today, his starting position was always very high because we were playing a poor team, and he rarely got beyond the winger (annoyingly he did when Morris came on, blocking his one trick!). That, for me, is the area that we'll likely get the most gains in with him. As you say, he's had a season and is getting up to speed. I think if he can really get up and down the park then we will have a much better player on our hands. That should be more than manageable. He's a neat and tidy player otherwise, he has the technical side sorted, and he hasn't had any time to develop a relationship with Keskinen or Morris.
-
Who was? He's clearly nowhere near ready. Anyway, you're lad sounds perfect, get him signed. Wasn't he supposed to be the next big thing when at Killie, but went down south and didn't make it? Failed to make it at Partick also. However, he could have given himself a boot up the hole since.

Again, we're talking about a backup right back. Any one of St mirren, Utd, Killie, Dundee right backs would be fine. To be honest though, the priority was actually a left back, who might be able to cover at right, rather than the other way round. For several hundred thousand pounds, we should have a guy who is immediately replacing Devlin, or can be used elsewhere. I don't think we've got either. What I think will happen is that Devlin will be replaced by Thelin's man because of the associated price tag. It's just not great squad building.
-
He's not particularly quick is he? I didn't see a constant desire to get forward in any of the games he has played so far, including today. MacKenzie and Devlin get beyond the winger far more often, and Devlin regularly charges into the box. Jensen certainly had a higher starting line than we are used to seeing (perhaps because we were playing Dunfermline), but he never actually beat his man and in the first half had multiple crosses blocked because he didn't advance the ball and chose to cross from deeper. I would agree that, at 23, he has plenty time for improvement, but I think there's a lot to improve. I agree, Keskinen will be fine. So far, we could easily have picked up multiple players in Scotland who could do similar (obviously, with a large caveat that he could improve significantly). He doesn't look like he'll do a job in multiple positions at all. Too lightweight for midfield and wasn't particularly good at left back. He's clearly just a right back. Again, he's technically good, a nice, neat player, just not spectacular. With Milne returning, I'd rather see him as replacement for right back and right centre back. I think if we'd spent £50K on him, I'd be happy, it's really the price that is the issue. Hopefully I'm proven wrong. I'm struggling to see where he's not making the most of his attributes though.

Just back, a nice afternoon. Never in any doubt, although we made a shite load of errors in that first half. Some decent performances. Nisbet played well despite his horrendous miss, and it definitely worked better for him having Gueye in there. I agree with @tlg1903 though, he needs the ball facing the goal. His touch was honking on numerous occasions, but his movement was excellent. Keskinen was okay, as others have said he works hard and doesn't stop looking for it despite his poor form. Not convinced by Okkels yet, he doesn't offer enough. MacKenzie was good and the new pairing at the back looks decent (noticeably shitter when Dorrington came on). Palaversa was decent, although still a bit weak in the tackle at times and gave it away a few times. Him and Nilsen were fine together. Despite his goal, I didn't think much of Jensen. Never tried to beat his man once, very hesitant and is very lightweight. I'm not quite sure why we've spent a relative fortune on a fullback who definitely can't play on the left, and is poorer than the existing right back. Whilst he might improve with game time, I don't see him being better than Devlin. He's technically good, but just looks like he'll only ever reach the heights of average. Strange one. He'll be good backup though. Hopefully we're onto a setup of some sort with the two up front. If we'd had McGrath on the left instead of Okkels, that'd be fairly potent. As it stands, I'd have Morris right and Keskinen left.
-
Aye, that's the team I'd have gone for. I'm not convinced that Nilsen and Palaversa are a good match in there, they get under one another's feet, but we definitely need to persist with rotating the three. Nilsen captain too.

I saw the Man Utd pish last night. I'd be interested to see the lines, as I reckon it was much closer than was being made out. The camera angle was such that it would always look worse than it actually was. Advantage to the attacker, and completely within tolerance in my opinion. It worked fine for many decades, and didn't ruin anything last night - the better team won. Haven't seen the Newcastle one, but it was a goal line decision, which is out with VAR remit anyway. They're always difficult to call, but they are also very few and far between.
-
I'd be happy with this if that's what Thelin plans to play going forward (although I don't think Clarkson fits there). I doubt it though. Obviously he's got plans for the new lad up front, so I'd setup however he intends to play going forward, but have Nisbet instead of the new lad. Hopefully that means Gueye and Nisbet. I don't see the point in wasting Gueye at nine again. He's not very good at it.
-
Camerhun gets his first goal in a Hun shirt for Dundee. Massive gads to having a Hun playing for yer side. Where are the Dundee fans booing fuck out the lad? I just assumed that Dundee would be raging. Are they really that obsequious?
-
Aye, has to be Nisbet. He always plays out of his skin against his former teams.
-
Really? I thought he came on and immediately made several runs beyond the winger that we'd been crying out for all game. I thought he looked frustrated with his teammates rather than disinterested. Either way, there is no way that Jensen is, or can be, our long term answer to left back because he's not good enough on his left foot, so I see little point in persisting with him in that role. MacKenzie is here until summer at least and we should utilise him, it gives the team much needed balance. The jury is out on Jensen, he looks technically good but very lightweight, but I'd play him at right back and give Devlin a much-required rest.
