I honestly think we have the players, just no clue what to fucking do other than lump it long and hope. Ffs. Been said endlessly, what the fuck do we do in training ?
-
Sadly second half just as bad. Awful stuff.
-
Same shit different day. Sideways, backwards, and long ball. Nothing creative and (I've only been watching 20 minutes) I haven't seen us create a chance or a shot on goal. Not even seen play in their penalty box.
-
Interesting line up, pretty happy with it but obviously I’d prefer mcginn over Gallagher. Still, not complaining!
-
Interesting stuff, appreciate the info!!
-
Definitely a game we don’t need three holding mids but has the manager got the stones to bench one. Gallagher has an impact against the huns when he came on but I’d really like to see mcginn or hedges in there. Lewis Hernandez Devlin McKenna Considine Ferguson mcgeouch Kennedy mcginn hedges Frank mcdougall Please. Sad that we are back to Considine at left back.
-
I agree with Rico, it’s a big deal to me that we don’t have more scots. Part of the reason I really wanted players like GMS, Devlin, May to succeed, plus a Scott Wright, McLennan, the Ross’s etc, and why I wanted a Mcgeouch for example. I know to many they don’t care, but a Scottish core is a biggie for me.
-
Every team gives us that space. They drop deep because they know we go long ball and don’t have advanced central mids. I wanted hedges to be brought on there yesterday, a bit more skill and a decent shot, but Gallagher did have a positive impact. But you are correct, I don’t see McInnes dropping Ojo mcgeouch or Ferguson.

Pretty sure the Atlanta model has a director of football type responsible for player recruitment. The manager (the coach) has a say but his job is primarily to coach. Given the (significant) money wasted and the shite McInnes has signed, including Wilson, Gleeson, forester, May, Main, Storey, Tansey, Maynard etc since Cormack has been involved, I’m certainly ok with a change in recruitment policy, don’t blame them!
-
Interesting, i missed that Hibs let Kamberi join Rangers. If only they’d asked, we may have grudgingly given them Curtis Main. Missed opportunity...
-
Hmm, don’t quite agree. A failed/poor clearance or two plus some dodgy fouls that weren’t punished. I thought he was shaky all game. I’m sorry I don’t share the same positivity, we pretty much defended our arses off for 90 minutes and could barely keep the ball. Plenty of hoof ball, Cosgrove diving around and fouling at will, I want us to be better than that. Yes we had 2-3 chances, but Lewis has some excellent saves too.
-
Also agree Kennedy has been pretty decent, more so defensively. Reminds me of Hayes in his body shape and movement but has been in a few one on ones and unlike Hayes hasn’t been able to blow by the full back.
-
Started well enough but have fallen out of it the last 15 mins and its almost all Rangers. More of this in the second and rangers will eventually score. Two very good saves from Lewis, and while plenty of long aimless balls Cosgrove could have scored two. Usual complaint, 3 center mids doing the job of two, all three not very involved. Missing a 10 yet again for an attacking outlet, hence the long aimless punt up the park all too often which results in another rangers attack. We need to be better, rangers are average and I'd love us to be brave and put Hedges in at 10 for Ojo or McGeouch.

I seriously think McINnes sees wright as a James Maddison type and wants to play him at 10, but the problem is Wright would need a good few games and patience, much like he gave Cosgrove, and with the midfielders we have now I just don’t see McInnes having the stones to bench Ojo Ferguson McGeouch and a fit - if ever - Bryson.
-
Fair point on flood/Gallagher but it won’t happen given the amount of center mids we now have. I’ve said the same too, McGinn or even hedges should be #10 but I really feel the manager has dug himself in a hole that if fit he has to play Ferguson Ojo and mcgeouch. No space for a 10 and absolutely no clue where Bryson fits in if ever healthy.
-
I thought it was a good window in the sense I think we signed 3 starters that should strengthen our starting 11, although we didn’t sign our biggest weakness, a #10. I also think we punted 2 guys who were probably decent earners and ultimately a waste of money. Strange window though in the sense that I don’t think mcgeouch was needed. We’ve got Ojo, Ferguson, and Bryson in there as the defensive workers, add McGeough that’s 4 potentially top earners at the club and only 2 should start. I just don’t see Ferguson or Bryson as the attack minded guy getting up alongside and ahead of Cosgrove. Add Campbell too, he needed to go out on loan. Can’t speak for Kennedy as I’ve never really seen him play but we have/ had hedges, Wilson, Gallagher, and, McLennan as creative wide guys, didn’t think this was essential. However, I don’t rate McLennan, Wilson was the square peg round hole, and Gallagher is limited, so maybe we upgraded. We did need a right back and I think Logan’s number was up after the euro penalty in Croatia. The Motherwell goal just highlighted again that he’s past his prime. No clue if this boy is any good but a four year deal to an internationalist suggests he is. I’d actually move Logan to left back until Leigh is fit and move Considine in with McKenna. None of our signings will change the way we play and that’s the biggest disappointment. Still expect plenty of hoof ball and a clear lack of creativity from players, and more importantly, the coaching staff.

Graeme Sharp and Andy Gray, produced the goods at the top level in England but couldn't get much of a sniff for Scotland because of the talent we had available. How striking times have changed!
-
Well, hour and a half left - In - McGeough, Kennedy, Hernandez, ........ Out - Wilson, Vyner, Gleeson, ........ Anyone being added to either list? Certainly an upgrade but still praying for a #10.
-
McInnes saying he/we pulled out all the stops to get him for the weekend. Do we really want to throw him in against the Huns away within 24 hours? Doubt he’ll have even trained with us. Does he even speak English?
-
15 caps for Venezuela apparently and 4 years, we must be expecting a lot. Surely we are getting a #10 on loan.
-
True, odds on Ferguson or Cosgrove losing the head, or McKenna or Cosgrove a red and penalty?? I just don't see how we score. We created so little throughout the month of January against much lesser teams. Add to that we are an average defensive team and opponents didn't punish us defensively in January. I expect DM to sit back and try to absorb pressure, it won't work, and we'll get done 3-0.
-
Theo, Anderson, McGinn, Shearer, Jess, Zero and Seve would all get my vote before Dodd’s or Stavrjm, others too. Don’t see why you would vote for those two.
-
Any more gossip about players coming in? Are we even trying or are we done this window??

Going back purely to the weight issue. I'm not doubting the effort and work ethic of McGinn and Ferguson, for the most part they are hard working players. But if you look at their bodies compared to other players questions get asked, especially with the amount of running. Imagine being 10 pounds lighter and doing the same job....you'd do it better and feel better! I also acknowledge that with Ferguson he's young, not even a fully developed adult yet. He's definitely carrying baby weight but I highly doubt he has a professional diet. McGinn too, I'd argue that despite the work ethic he is less mobile now and a few pounds lighter would certainly help, and also help with the stress/injuries on the body carrying less weight.

I will add, pretty sure it was John Collins who first bought into the real professional footballers lifestyle in regards to health, fitness, diet and nutrition, during his time in France. He was laughed at endlessly when he came back here and was called a freak, but even when we was part of the coaching staff at Celtic he was way fitter and healthier than most of the players. Salah and Ronaldo have the resources that certainly help, no doubt with personal chefs, trainers etc to ensure that body is at its maximum efficiency. Ferguson and McGinn certainly don’t have that luxury, and the fact that we even employee a smoker to play for us tells you that there are issues at the club and our boys aren’t in proper peak condition. That should never happen in this day and age.
