67 mins, it’s not working, haven’t tested the keeper. Doesn’t this suggest we need to try something different? First sub, like for like ? two forwards with two holding mids doesn’t work, you need an attacking mid/or a #10 ffs.
-
Based on 35 mins in Ojo and McGeouch are far too similar. Need an attacking/penetrative threat from center mid. Both sit and it’s a lot of long ball yet again.
-
McLennan starts and Hedges on the bench. What has happened to Hedges, I think he’s one of our best these days but struggles for a start now? Not a fan of McLennan either, odd one to me.
-
Any idea what kind of central midfielder? Same as we have or the creative #10 type??
-
Mark Gallagher from Ross County signing too. Anyone know anything about him?
-
You’d like to think we could give or loan a player or two to get him now. Even something like 20k plus someone. Adding him now may improve our chances of third, worth the punt. I’d loan them McLennan.
-
In this situation I’m actually more optimistic. Hearts are bottom and one of the relegation favorites, not sure players want to commit to that uncertainty.

Sarcastic or serious???

The singing section is a very American thing, you have it with all MLS clubs here in the US. You certainly don't have to be in the singing section to sing and you get all sorts of songs, banter, chants etc from various sections of MLS crowds towards each other. It has been hugely successful and you get some amazing atmospheres at games. US football is different to Scotland though so not sure how it will come across, but hugely successful here in creating very good home game experience. Cormack is thinking outside the box and credit to him for exploring different options, I'm willing to give the new guy a chance. The game is different, people are different, and young crowds and fans are different to us who grew up in the 80s and 90s for example. Worth exploring.

Yes and no, depends where you want pace and the way we play. Logan and Leigh are pretty quick, McGinn is slowing but still gets up and down, Hedges is pacey, and Cosgrove isn't too shabby. Like them or not, Gallagher, Wilson, and McLennan are quick too. Our center mids don't necessarily need to be the quickest, Ferguson is pretty mobile I think, not sure on Ojo but he sits in anyway. I do agree though, Ojo sitting behind Ferguson and McGeough works for me too. But McInnes will go with two holding most likely, unnecessary against all but the old firm and even that's debatable.
-
Not sure how I feel about McGeouch. Definitely wanted him for a good couple of transfer windows but it’s so clear we need a creative Maddison/Christie spark. That is not him. But considering we’ve had Vyner and Leigh in center mid a few times it’s certainly an upgrade, but if McG, Ojo, Bryson and Ferguson are fit I feel that’s a too similar group. Still, given it’s another player with an injury affected couple of years I’ll be stunned if we have all players fit at once. Welcome aboard! Is he currently injured??
-
Making assumptions here. Full back a priority since Leigh is injured plus McKenna leaving and Considine not being moved to left back? O’Donnell on the right and Logan on the left?

Happy New Year to you all from LA. Hope 2020 is good to you all, and especially good to the dons. Now off to bed.

I’d be delighted with Liam Lindsay, solid at thistle and I was disappointed we didn’t get him before he went south. However, I’m taking this with a major pinch of salt as he signed for Stoke last summer for a couple of million. I’d be happy with O’Donnell, solid SPL player. No clue about Declan Gallagher. Anyone rate him?? Dorrans can GtF. We signed Bryson, don’t see much difference here but this signing would tend to suggest to me that Bryson is done. We need youthful energy to get up and down the park, not another guy on the decline. We also need major creativity, a Christie/Maddison and that isn’t Dorrans. I’d take the winger Kennedy we’re linked with too. I actually would mind us signing a wide guy and moving McGinn centrally behind the forward.
-
Vyner our for the season. What has happened to Ryan Hedges? I think he’s one of our better players but inconsistent starter now.
-
Didn’t see as much of the second half but I’d say the red made little difference, although I do think we were a little better without Main. We were pretty awful, don’t recall their keeper making a save. So much long and hopeless balls, we desperately need the Maddison/Christie type in midfield. Another brutal watch, sorry, the manager got it wrong today as the bottom of the league team were there for the taking and played close to 1/4 of the match with 10. Why can’t we play players in their correct positions and play to our strengths.....although what is that now? Does the manager know?
-
Well, all to play for. Hearts down to 10 and a peach of a free kick from McGinn. Can we get a winner?
-
50 mins and hearts take a deserved lead. Maybe I’ll get criticized again for being mr negative but so far the manager has got this game all wrong. We’re giving the bottom of the league team time space confidence etc.
-
Half time, think we got worse as the half went on. Think we had one shot in goal, a mis hit tame effort from Ferguson. Midway through the half tactics moved Campbell into midfield with Vyner dropping to the back then Vyner injured right at half time and McGinn came on which I think will help us. Painful to watch, we cannot pass the ball, can only get better?
-
30 mins in, didn’t think we started badly, Hearts the better team now, McKenna just cleared off the line. We can’t string passes together or keep the ball, don’t get the tactics and why we’re now being dominated by the bottom of the league team. Feel for Anderson, out of position to an extent and no supply so far.
-
I don’t get this line up at all. Hedges and mcginn combined to create a lovely goal last game and are pretty much our only creative players, now on the bench. Where does our width come from?? Wilson back to being a bench warmer as the dazzling Main starts again. Guess we shall see... but my fear is Anderson is being punted wide.
-
A win is a win. I was surprised we subbed out hedges so early, involved in the first goal and one of the very few who gives us creativity. I thought today would have been a good day - but we’ll never see it - to have McGinn and hedges wide and give Wilson a run through the middle. Main offered so little and Anderson scored a well taken goal. Would really like to see Anderson through the middle this weekend, supported by Wilson at #10 with McGinn and hedges wide. We were at our best 2-3 years ago when we had Hayes-Christie-McGinn behind Rooney. Not that different in terms of attributes. Main isn’t needed.
-
I got your comment. Just having seen him the last 3 games and the way his team responds, why not? National team is as close to a joke as we’ve been in a while, you never know. Honesty, hard graft and passion, wouldn’t do any harm.
-
How about involved with the national team???
-
Will be an interesting window. While January is not the easiest of windows, new chairman new ambition with a signing or two? We clearly have center mid issues that need addressed. Zach and Greg have been good signings but they aren’t the solution, although I’d certainly still like Leigh signed permanently. Bryson will be like a new signing if ever fit, but we, yet again, are so reliant on Ferguson. Lazy suggestion but Dylan McGeough is available and proven SPL quality. Anyone else?? Would also like to see Anderson And McLennan put out on loan.
