Dons - Victimhood - Boxing Day 2 pm

Shinnie is a better left back, that's for sure. Consi on the left killed us but Shinnie in midfield wins us the penalty. Think the lesson here is that with Lowe leaving Shinnie is the natural replacement but we are utter horseshit in central midfield. No to Gleeson Ball Forrester Tansey. Ferguson is a worker but not creative. We have nothing in the middle of the park. Two good players in there and the opponents get sucked in and our wide players get much more space. Yet another Celtic game with the same end product. We beat ourselves with shit tactics and are left to reflect what could have been. And yes, Celtic were there for the taking, they are not a great side the season but yet again our manager treats them like Barcelona. I don't understand those who thought we played well today. Sit in and hope Celtic don't score isn't my idea of a good performance. -

First was more of a penalty than the second but had both been given against us we’d be raging. Regardless, shit performance that exposed our weaknesses yet again. -

Logan at fault for probably their second and fourth but ultimately we got what we deserved. We'd have been raging of both those penalties were given against us, other than Ferguson's goal did we have a shot on goal from open play?? -

The usual shite DM tactics. Sit back and absorb pressure until Celtic score. All too predictable and unsuccessful. 10 mins left but we've created fuck all and it was a dodgy penalty. Edit, two dodgy penalties... -
I thought it was the penalty that changed the game, not gleeson. In the second half we were clearly second best to that point. Penalty pumped us up and really deflated hearts. Had we not gotten it I felt the equalizer was coming. Good win though, no complaints from me. Curious about Lowe, was DM looking at a midfield and the options he has with Shinnie as left back?
-
It's an interesting one but a definite step backwards if we don't bring in a replacement. Sign of ambition if Andy becomes left back again. We have two choices, sign a left back or a central mid and punt Shinnie back there ......if he's not gone in the Jan window too. I'd say it's cheaper to sign a quality left bakc than a quality central mid, and I do like the idea of signing the Killie boy.

I actually thought Stockley was decent, scored a peach against Partick, but wasn’t ever going to get the benefit of the doubt from refs. Think it’s similar with Sam and the refs but I think he’s a very different player. Big Sam scores headers. I just remember Stockley missing headers. I also don’t recall Stockley holding the ball up and linking as well as Sam, and Sam has generally shown more skill. I think we’ve seen more from Sam of late because the service has been better rather than chasing lost causes or competing for endless high balls, so the team in general has improved. However, the Motherwell and st Johnston’s games weren’t that long ago and it’s the same squad. I’m not getting carried away. We were shite against hearts last time and usually poor against Celtic. It comes down to DM. Will he stick to the same formation that has got us playing better or go back to more defensive pish. Hearts should be blasted off the park and Celtic are mediocre, definitely two games we shouldn’t be adapting tactics for in my eyes.

I think we'll see Cosgrove and May continue, both are on a scoring run. Wide picks itself with McGinn and Wright due to the others injured. I wonder if we'll see Tansey in the near future. I don't see where Forrester fits in if we play May and Cosgrove, and I don't think Gleeson is mobile enough to play one of the two in a 4-4-2. I think we'll rotate Shinnie, Ferguson, Ball, and Tansey, possibly even see Dean Campbell, with Gleeson and Forrester only in the worst case.
-
McLennan was really poor but you can’t really fault his youthful effort. He’s clearly been told to take people on but that’s pretty much all he did regardless of if it was the right decision or not. He also fumbled and fell over the ball quite a bit I thought. Didn’t get much success from it yesterday, hope his decision making improves sooner rather than later.
-
Geez, someone's pissy. I think you're a little misguided here. It's not just a lot of posters here, I think it's pretty clear Gleeson and Forrester don't have a future at the club and it's best for all parties that they move sooner rather than later. I'd assume the club would do the best they can to get them off the books ASAP. Given we were able to get fees for Rooney and Stockley, neither of whom had played that much at that time and weren't on form, why wouldn't Forrester and Gleeson be sold? Both have a decent CV and their move here just didn't work out. As for Tansey, he's most likely being given another chance based on the aforementioned two being shite, but I'm sure someone would pay something for him and he was an out of contract signing so something's better than nothing. A transfer window is coming up and this is a social media. Doesn't it seem appropriate that we discuss potential transfers? Aren't we allowed to speculate?
-
I'd rather write that than funded by the sales of Shinnie, McKenna, and/or Lewis....
-
I'm asking for McGeoch and Allan, replacing Ball and allowing those two plus Shinnie and Ferguson to rotate.....on the assumption Shinnie were to stay. Funded by the punting of Gleeson, Forrester, Ball, and Tansey.
-
May should have scored a header in 10 mins too then ffs Considine. Grr.
-
Yup, I'd take Allan and McGeouch. I totally think we missed the boat on Stevie Mallan and need to snap up McGeouch, and likewise I think we missed the boat on Ryan Christie - I do think we could have gotten him if we really tried, financial risk I know, but he'd have been worth it. Both Mallan and Christie, in my eyes, represent our clubs ambition. We chose to go the Gleeson and Forrester route instead....
-
Interesting article in the EE about DM and our misfiring strikers. Cosgrove has scored 2, as has Wilson and Anderson, with May have just the one. However, I don't recall these guys missing a ton of chances. Given the fact that much of their service has been long high ball and chase, far from ideal. You can argue they don't make the runs or aren't in the right place at the right time.....although I don't think Anderson has been given a real chance yet......but my issue is our midfield. We need a center mid to dictate games and create, and that is my number one priority if we sign in the January window. We're so weak in center mid that that is where my money would go first. Doesn't appear Dylan McGeouch is killing it at Sunderland, worth a look??
-
Huns draw. Looks like a few changes in line up from our game yet same Gerrard comments after the game, team didn’t follow instructions. I don’t see him lasting.
-
This was a year we expected Gleason to boss the midfield with shinnie, forrester to be the new Ryan Christie, and James Wilson banging them in. We’re paying those three a big chuck of change I’d assume to pretty much do nothing. We’ve got to get them off the books, even getting rid of them and signing nobody in January isn’t a big deal, I’d rather see Anderson campbell and Ferguson.
-
Another game where we have no central attacking mid who creates attacking problems. Fair point about Scott Wright, given another chance there and minimal effect. We also may as well play with no forwards, zero threat ffs.
-
Said last summer Ball was a good squad filler but shouldn't be a regular starter. Saying that, at 23, he can improve. I don't think Ball and Shinnie should play together, that's been forced on us with Forrester and Gleeson being shite. While he's not been bad, if we have high ambition I'd want a midfielder who can do more than Ball can offer. I'd even argue when fully fit Tansey offers more than Ball and should sit alongside Shinnie with Ferguson ahead of them.......obviously we sign a midfielder and neither Ball nor Tansey starts.
-
What ever happened to Souleymane Coulibaly? Meant to be going to Thistle late summer, did that happen? Was a stud at Killie, can't be that bad now...
-
Yet another Scottish game where VAR would have made a difference. Definitely seems a double standard at present.
-
Perfect, I'll get on that!! I'd also buy a used adult large of last years home top if it's still pretty good. Anyone willing to sell me one??
-
I'm trying to find a home top from either last season or this season in mens large. Hard to find, not on the club site or ebay. Any suggestions? Given I don't live in Scotland and haven't for a long time don't know where to buy this stuff any more!
