Yup. Right now with the injuries and squad we have a win is a win. Job done.
-
We are a long ball team at present. Canāt see anything but cosgrove starting.
-
Iād take mallan or either/both of the hibs forwards. Mallan is a good player. McInnes better have something up his sleeve.
-
This is how I remembered it, cultured player we tried to sign permanently but couldn't afford him. I'd take a left back like him now in a heartbeat! Date: 22nd February 2007 at 11:25pm Written by: Cole Thomson Ferne Snoyl has said that he has gone from the tidy, passing, neat player who arrived at Pittodrie to one of the hardest men in the Dutch league when he returned back to his homeland. Jimmy Calderwood brought Ferne to the club last season on loan from Feyenoord after a tip off from a source in Holland and wanted to keep the Dutchman after he impressed during his time at Pittodrie. Ferne returned back to his homeland because the clubs couldn`t agree personal terms and he now plays for NEC Nijmegen, a club Calderwood once managed. Ferne has spoken out about his time in Scotland and admits he wouldn`t have missed it for the world despite now picking up too many yellow cards for his over exuberant tackling and the refs asking if he thinks he`s still in Scotland. The 21 year old gave his personal views on Scottish football and despite insisting the experience was good for him, he was not particularly complimentary. He said āThe manner of play is completely different now I`m back home to what it was at Aberdeenā. āThe workrate and the physical power in the football in Scotland is from another dimensionā. He then went on to say that āCeltic are the only team who play really good football while with the rest of the teams it`s all about musclesā. Nonsense Ferne, there are plenty of teams in Scotland who can`t play good football and haven`t got any muscle either.

I don't grudge them it as much as I despise them. We've had chances in recent years but haven't taken them, including against Maribor (the only time I recall Rooney ever missing a penalty.) -
Exactry, a JC foreign loan signing who was quality. Weāll not see that, too risky.
-
When McInnes fails, he fails for playing it safe. The same tactics against the old firm, the same type of players in the transfer market, the same tactics regardless of player playing, case and point currently valid with Cosgrove and May. He plays it safe bringing Ball back. Christie back. McGinn back. Did we really try to resign an average at best Anthony OConnor? McKenna was only given a chance when we were desperate after a shambolic performance and defeat. Maybe we gamble on shankland, or we go for burns, Storey, and Maynard. Weāre sitting waiting on players - will we gamble on a Dutch unknown like ferne snoyl, maybe we gamble on Stevie Mallan? What about trying for Jamie Maclaren? Or do we end up with another Wes burns, Nicky Maynard, Sam Cosgrove, callum Morris? Iām not holding my breath. Are we still waiting for Moult, holding out despite Moult currently being Prestonās only fit forward? Time will tell.
-
Weāve all seem McGinn GMS and Wright play well, McGinn being the only one Iāve seen on a consistent run of form. However, bar the first month of his return heās been hit or miss, or injured. Iād take Gauld in a heartbeat, send Wright to Ayr United or the likes. I do agree GMS has started the season reasonably well and hope his form and confidence continues.
-
I donāt think our wide players are good enough. GMS and McGinn are too inconsistent and Wright needs to go out on loan to play weekly.
-
Sounds like our new goal scoring forward then!
-
My point is that we know what McInnes is like. Heās not a risk taker. Heāll field the same old line up, strongest possible in his mind, and most likely same formation, especially since heās under a little pressure to get a result. Do you really expect Harrington and or Anderson to start against Dundee?
-
All of this crazy talk about mixing it up. We just got knocked out of Europe and were shite against rangers. McInnes will be playing his strongest team possible. However, I wouldnāt be surprised to see a 4-4-2 for this game Lewis Ball-Devlin-Considine-Shinnie McGinn-Gleeson-Ferguson-GMS Cosgrove-May A little light in midfield so if Hoban is fit I exspect him at left back and Shinnie replacing Gleeson in midfield. Surprised people are concerned with Gleeson. Picked up an injury preseason and finding his feet. Give him a break. Anderson is young and full of confidence but a starting spot is unlikely. More likely proved to DM heās the first striker off the bench but DM hasnāt written off May or cosgrove.

Am I right that these cunts just spunked a litttle over 2 million on a left back based on him playing well against them? Iām sure we could send them a video of Stevie May playing well for St Johnstone against the Huns at some point.....hopefully. -
What I find odd is that we were so shite to him yet we had 60% of the possession and after the sending off Lewis didnāt have a save to make. I was totally unimpressed with them. Yes we were shite but he should shut the fuck up because, despite all the money theyāve spent, they werenāt much better. Deflection I think.
-
Interesting to see Charlie Adam spouting the same as Gerrard. Also read of late that Adam has said heās open to a return to rangers. I assume a kiss arse statement to catch Gerardās attention from the prick?
-
Off topic a bit but that means Devlin Considine Shinnie and Ball as a potential back 4 for the Dundee game. I though dm said we have 4 defenders now injured. Reynolds Hoban McKenna and ? Or is it 4 out with Logan suspended?? DM said heās having to bring in a defender or two, this to me is when you involve youth.
-
Is Devlin injured? Clearly struggling at the end yesterday but I havenāt seen anything.
-
Well, getting up at 5am to watch that shite pissed me off. Had the day to reflect, hereās my take - Donāt care what Gerrard said, we were shite today and thatās his first impression of us. Up to us to prove weāre better than that. Bell end or not, he wasnāt far wrong with much of what he said. Letās not kid ourselves, against Burnley we were not that good either, it was mainly passion and effort/desire that made us all proud. Very limited skill and minimal quality attacking play. Today was the hangover and I accept that āexcuseā but I fear for the quality of our attacking play. It declined last year and is worse so far this year. We were shite and Rangers werenāt impressive. None of their players looked overly good and I donāt think they are much better than last year. Positive spin is that weāve already matched last years points total against them. Our back 4 will be better for sure, Devlin is true quality. If McKenna is Scotland material no reason why Devlin canāt follow. I donāt want gleeson to be treated as the next Tansey. Give the boy a chance to be fully fit and settle into Scottish football. Forrester too, let give these guys a chance. Letās not kid ourselves with Ferguson either, heās 18 and Iād bench him for a game or two. Great goal but weāre expecting an awful lot from him, saw little today. Iād like to see Shinnie gleeson and Forrester start the next game, Ball by default will still be in defense. We missed Shinnie in midfield after he went to left back, his passion and driving forward. I know gleeson is a deep lying midfielder but wasnāt clear of the roles of Forrester and Ferguson today. We were poor in center mid today resulting is us going long ball too often. Ball gets a free pass today, questionable penalty, but he was a defender by default today. Iād even argue we missed him in midfield. Cosgrove is hard working but still shite. Fouls as much as he gets fouled, some good link play at times, but his presence means we go long ball too much. May is going backwards and I hope Anderson takes his minutes. We desperately need a quality forward as it will influence our entire style of play. GMS has started the season well, involved in both Burnley goals and involved today. I donāt mind the tricks and flicks, they donāt always come off but heās developing confidence and improving. HOWEVER, we are relying on creativity from two very inconsistent wide men in GMS and McGinn, three if you add Wright. Big miss not trying to sign Mallan. Three games, three draws, and three very poor attacking games. Hope a week of training and a couple of signings make a difference but tactically very similar to last year which is very concerning.
-
Yes, quality signing. Struggled at the end, whatās the injury? So McKenna Reynolds Hoban all out injured now, as well as Logan suspended?
-
Iāve given May the benefit of the doubt and the tactics donāt suit him, but young Anderson comes on, nearly scores with a header then scores his other chance. Iād rather Anderson play before May, young guy must be full of confidence and May polar opposite.
-
Geez, get a grip. I donāt give a fuck what Gerrard says, and much of what he said is correct. We were shite today. DM and our players should do their talking on the pitch, no need to get involved in media crap.
-
Agree to a point but I do worry. The burnley defeat and going out of Europe did have an effect physically and mentally. Thatās not an excuse, itās true. Gleeson and Forrester were making their premier debuts, got to give them a chance. Ball isnāt a right back but we didnāt really have other options today. But my worry is the same I expressed last year. Weāre becoming a long ball team and itās shite to watch, and not effective against better teams. Mcinnesā tactics were piss today, very predictable. And this is a common theme. Devlin is a good player, Anderson is the new shankland......with a goal.
-
Said that at the time he signed for hibs. Thatās a big missed opportunity there.
-
Weāve played 3 games so far and while itās been three tougher games, our attacking tactics have been shite. Give it to GMS or McGinn and hope their creativity works magic or lump it forward. Even with a good forward I donāt see our tactics significantly changing. We cannot pass a ball forward or combine well at all. Thatās obviously concerning. Am I right in saying McGregor didnāt have a save today? At home playing against 10 men thatās awful.
-
GMS is very inconsistent but I thought he was involved and looked up for it today, and was more active than McGinn. Didnāt get much from Ferguson, forrester, Shinnie wasnāt as impactful but thatās in part because he went to left back. Today was our burnley hangover and we didnāt lose, I guess thatās a positive spin. However, today also showed how weak our squad is. Anderson is a goal scorer and look more threatening than cosgrove and May combined from both burnley games and today. Looks like a right place right time Rooney type finisher but more skill and pace.
