  1. If Celtic can thump the huns 5-0 what's stopping Hibs!!
  2. I'd say the best we hope for is 3 draws, tonight and both at the weekend. Can't see us beating Celtic, but I also see Hibs taking something from Rangers, Lennon will have them fired up for that.
  3. Why would he stay? He's not playing and not making a lot of money.
  4. Yes, they are a shite rangers side. But many argue we are a shite Aberdeen side. Don’t think we were out thought, Rangers passed the ball better at times and we showed we are limited which we all know. All of the following played their typical game - ball is limited, as is Stewart, Christie and GMS inconsistent, and I’ve yet to see cosgrove in a scoring position. It sounds like you are expecting something we do not have.
  5. Didn't think we shat it. First 15 mins Rangers dominated then we score and dominate it. Second half Rangers understandably fight back but to an extent end to end stuff. Disappointed not to win but much more effort and a performance I'm some what proud of. We didn't win because we aren't good enough, don't pass very well, and players are limited. Christie was hot/cold, Cosgrove is a big loon but offered zero scoring threat, GMS is no Jonny Hayes.
  6. I suppose it's worth being said. We win this game playing this way. We don't if we now sit back and try to 'manage the game out.'
  7. Interesting first half. A traditional, much more like it, Aberdeen Rangers game. Worst tackle of the half was the one on Shinnie by Goss but no booking?? No way this finishes 11v11. I expect Goss, Holt, or Halliday to go early. I'll jump to the defense of Cosgrove, who we'll need to sub before he goes, he looked for the defender and spread his body and arms to get positioning, I don't see it as him trying to elbow the defender. Rangers clearly started the better team and the goal changed the game. Wasn't that sure if we were up for it, but clearly we are now. We were clearly the better side after the penalty, cracking strike by McLean off the bar, but he should have scored his volley. McLean has been average at best in his time here, but for the last 5 months has been tremendous. Best player on the park so far...
  8. Dodgy penalty but credit to the ref. He gave a very similar foul to the huns shortly beforehand when Cosgrove won the ball. Consistently wrong is better than inconsistently wrong.
  9. I think Ball deserves the start, been decent in the last few games. Also allows McLean to play farther forward, ahead of Ball and Shinnie, which I think is a good thing. Cosgrove deserves the start too - by no means been great but Rooney and May haven't been too great. My concern is Considine and his lack of pace, I'd rather have Reynolds in there, but neither that strong. First 15 mins will tell you if we're up for this or not...
  10. Don’t know what to make of this but history suggests DM will bottle that. Saying that he got tactics spot on against Killie and hearts but we’ve got injuries and don’t have the full squad to fully play to our strengths....whatever that may be. Lewis Logan-O’Connor- McKenna- Reynolds Mclean-Shinnie Wright-Stewart-Christie Cosgrove Pretty sure May will start though 1-1 Christie
  11. This is the problem. Every game over the last few years has meant something - us qualifying for Europe, cup runs etc, all which bring in essential money. When do we get the chance to blood youngsters and give them a chance? These guys really do need multiple games to find their feet. McKenna got a game after we got gubbed by Motherwell in the cup, played very well so kept his place, got multiple games and the rest is history. I'd argue had he had an average to shit game against Motherwell he'd have been dropped and we may never have seen him again. He never excelled out on loan, we never saw McKenna coming. It's such a fine line. Different point but we need the reserve league back replacing u20. These youngsters need to be playing against seasoned pros to prepare for the jump to the first team, not glorified youth football. Too big a step hence the major challenge.
  12. I really find this an interesting appointment, and not a smart one in my eyes. It's not a stable club or a stable board, questions regarding finances, and really more questions than answers. Who joins that?? Gerrard has minimal coaching experience and, to me, has always come across as a hell of a boring guy. He also has to have been given funds to build, and where is that coming from? While many will argue against this, you've given the keys to your Ferrari to a brand new driver. (irrelevant of the fact the Ferrari needs repairs and you're way behind in payments and no real plan of how to pay for it.) Gerrard should also have some luck in the transfer market as a name, but again no real coaching experience to back this up. He'll probably spend on names but does he, and those players, know what they are in for. The hun fans aren't a patience bunch who will eat their own. I thought Rangers needed an experienced coach, ideally with Scottish football experience, who fully understands the old firm. Delighted with this appointment.
  13. Deloumeaux was a solid player, I liked him. Van Der Ark was like bambi on ice, and that's being nice. I'd say Rooney struggles to make our top 5, he's scored a good few goals for us but I'd take Zero, Stavrum, Gillhaus, Alex Di Rocco before him to start. For those bored and have nothing better to do, how about a 'foreigners' team and a Britain and Ireland' team?
  14. Mason was excellent but given we plucked him from Holland I don't really see him as the typical Englishman we tend to sign.
  15. I’ll take your 40 odd year old Kombouare and raise you Dave Bus...
  16. Solberg was terrible. And English players don’t count!
  17. I’m going with my memory which starts early 80s without even googling so I know there’s some missing 3-4-3 Snelders Arneson Tstvanov Heikinen Bisconti Van der ven Kiriakov Aluko Gillhaus Stavrum Zero Never saw Varga play but he’s no doubt in there.
  18. I’m not a fan of taking players back but we lose Christie and Stewart (who I’m not fussed if he comes back.) I’d take Hayes on loan if it came up and was affordable. He’s returning from a broken leg - while bad enough nothing like ligament damage and no reason a full recovery doesn’t occur. Ronaldo is the wrong side of 30 too, Hayes would be a good addition.
  19. I hear you but for every Nikola and Davide there is a Peter Van Der Ven, Theo Ten Caat, and even Paul Mason. These guys were unknowns at the time and became excellent players for us. Not quite the same but more recently Ferne Snoyl and Karim Touzani weren't too bad either. I think there are affordable foreign markets out there that we fail to look into. I'd be inclined to hire a scout or two who lives in a country and try to tap into a market. I'd rather we signed up and coming Scots and feel we miss the boat on young homegrown talent, but 2-3 foreigners in the squad (work permits permitting) isn't necessarily a bad thing and no different to taking a risk on Maynard, Donervon Daniels, or Jerel Ilfi!!
  20. I'm honestly ok with this. He's 24, maybe he has matured. Cheap and low risk, high reward. Can't be any worse than Maynard. We'll have May and Cosgrove, does make me wonder if we'll say goodbye to Rooney this summer. We need to be spend all our money on replacing almost an entire midfield anyway!
  21. I think it says a lot whoever takes this job! If Gerrard has even 1/2 a brain and ambitions of coaching long term he'll see the shambles it is. It's a no win position, a shit show club, and a soap opera for all to watch. Quality comedy viewing!
  22. I’d be happy with that with the squad we have, considine at left back and Shinnie replacing mclean in midfield. Saying that, hibs style of play is polar opposite to hearts so expect multiple tactical and personnel changes from DM.
  23. It’s all about the result and we got one. However, those were the easiest games and the mentality in the next two games, and obviously the tactics and line up, will be very interesting. You can’t predict the last game at all, no clue how the Tim’s approach that one either. Nobody would have predicted tonight’s lineup and tactics, wonder what’s in store for the final three. Didn’t see a lot of today’s game but is McGinn fit??? Didn’t appear to do much but I could be wrong.
  24. It's all gossip and speculation and nothing more. I assume in order to sell season tickets. The huns need an experienced veteran at the helm who fully understands what he's getting into, Gerrard makes little sense. So, hope they get Gerrard.
  25. Really? Hate to say it, but no points from Rangers or Celtic this year when almost everyone else has taken something makes me question your statement.
