How did we line up?? Logan, Shinnie, O’Connor, Ball, Reynolds, McKenna, I assume it wasn’t a back 6...
-
First McLean, then Logan. Odds on Shinnie getting the third?
-
That will take reflection and a change of tactics and formation to something new. Not going to happen. Not saying you're wrong though.
-
I'd go with - Lewis Logan-OConnor-McKenna-Harvie Mclean-Shinnie Wright-Stewart-Christie May That's more than enough talent to beat Killie but, based on the nature of some performances this year, the result last weekend, and DMs comments, I sense all is not well at the club and self belief is a big issue. Could easily see another 3-0 defeat but I think with Shinnie alone he won't let that happen. 1-1 Stewart

DM has a HUGE overhaul with pretty much half the first team squad leaving. I personally don't think he's capable. Asking any coach to overhaul 50% of the squad is a tough ask on a very limited budget. I think loan players have to be legit players who play week in week out. I'd say Christie and Stewart were fair enough, but I'd rather have seen Craig Storie before Chidi (released I know), Rogers given a chance before Woodman, and some young right back before Ball. No reason to pad out a squad with loans, that's what youth development is for (or worst case experienced old head.) How did you like the smokeys? Lived in Knoxville for 2 years, about 1 hr away. Went to the mountains a bunch.

Here's where I see us - the board released some funds for GMS who has been inconsistent at best (150k was reported I believe.) We then paid a reported 400k for May. That's more money than we've paid for players in donkeys years. We spent money on players who used to be good. Do you now trust DM with more money? We missed our chance with Moult last year, I still believed that ship has sailed. Do we really need another player who used to be good? You could even throw McGinn in there, was great the first few weeks back but has disappeared of late too.
-
And pretty sure that means top 3 in league for Europe now if Celtic beat rangers or if rangers finish in the top 3. Finishing 4th and no Europe either would be a disaster.
-
Just woke up and saw the score. And line up!!!! WTF! What formation and positions was that? When have we ever succeeded playing Rooney and May...
-
Not a lot of pregame chat and predictions. It's a cup semi final!!! I say we'll go with - Lewis Ball Arnie McKenna Considine OConnor Christie GMS Stewart McGinn May Woodman Reynolds Rooney Wright Harvie Cosgrove Chidi (if fit) I'm going with 3-1 us, Stewart, May, McKenna. I think the big Hampden field and a good surface benefit our skill and pace. Regardless of missing two of our top performers we still have 5 solid attacking players and enough at the back to hold Motherwell as we did last week.
-
I think we got a good schedule, and I think it's between us and the huns for 2nd. Huns have - Hearts (H) Celtic (A) Killie (H) Aberdeen (A) Hibs (A) Hoping our game is the 2nd place decider on May 8........not sure that helps us though! Last game of the season sees us play the tims which could become a u20 game if we both play each other in the cup final. Although chances are the tims will have nothing to play for and may rest bodies for the final.

To me Shinnie only became a midfielder by default. We couldn't get replacements for Robson, Flood, then Jack. What's easier to find, a quality midfielder or left back?? We need two central mids, Molumbo and McGeough would be great. Tansey can come off the bench - he never got fit for us, worth a punt as a back up. We have McGinn and GMS, I'd like us to keep Stewart and Wright, plus add another wide player. Chris Cadden or Jordan Jones? The following are out the door/out of contract - Rogers/Woodman (don't really count them as 2 - ? OConnor - Devlin? Arneson - ? McLean - McGeough? Christie - Cadden/Jones? Stewart - keep Stewart Ball - new right back to challenge Shay who can also play in midfield Chidi - Tansey? Maynard - one of the u20 please!
-
Zero substance to the daily record article. All speculation and the records way of shooting us down. He made the Scotland squad, big deal. What has he done in his career? I like him as a player and think he is a good target for us but hibs can still finish second and Europe ahead of us so he waits to see how it plays out.

No, Motherwell are a bottom 6 team, nothing less than 2 wins is acceptable to me, especially if we see ourselves as, at worst, the second best team in Scotland. Today I’m considering the 10 point gap, win out, rangers beat Celtic, and things get interesting. Ball will be right back.
-
I would not be surprised to see the exact same 11 as the Motherwell game. Think DM will want a tougher central midfield and keep O’Connor there. Don’t see how he can drop Stewart either so if McGinn is fit he’s probably on the bench. 1-1. Christie.
-
Well, according to red tv - suspect I know - sounds like DM got it 100% right tonight!
-
Well, we’re a team with plenty of skill and flair players so I suggest we are every much attack minded and try to get these guys involved. We’ll also be playing on a better field than pittodrie which suits us. I know it’s last year but we showed what we’re capable of in an attacking sense. This year we’ve really struggled for attacking fluency and consistency. We’re suspect defensively so not a fan of us sitting in (the old firm tactics) and we’re shit going long ball which we’ve seen of late. Motherwell are more physical than us, we’ve got a bunch of lightweights, so we don’t want an overly physical game. Attack and move the ball quickly and we’ll be fine. However, DMs tactics will no doubt baffle us tonight.
-
This game and the Hearts game at the weekend are all about balls, from our manager first and from our players. Down to tactics, both teams will try to kick us off the park. Do we shit it and play long ball and scrap, playing their game, or do we try to play to our strengths? My fear is that we shit it and it’s the latter. 1-1, poor performance. Considine the scorer.
-
Agree, was starting to find form but has barely had a sniff since Niall rejoined. Think he's worth keeping with Christie moving on, as long as we (including the manager) don't expect him to perform like Christie, Hayes, or McGinn.
-
Dare I say we’ve got some good young players in defense and midfield? But wtf regarding forwards???
-
I suspect he’ll get a run. To think back in the day archibald, Andy gray, Graeme sharp couldn’t really get a game up top despite club success due to the quality of forwards we had.
-
Mcgregor Paterson-hendry-McKenna-Robertson McGinn-mcgregor Fraser-Armstrong-Phillips Cummings Although I suspect that will be the back four except mulgrew for McKenna...
-
I think you are being unfair. It's because of what McLean and Christie have done in an Aberdeen jersey under McInnes that have gotten them in the squad. Norwich and Celtic have nothing to do with it.
-
You mean another team outwith us takes points off Celtic. Why is it so hard for us??
-
Agree with Christie but I’d say it’s quite the opposite with May. He needs games to find fitness, sharpness, develop chemistry and confidence. He hasn’t played a lot for us or pre us, needs extended time on a field.
-
Typical DM sub. Nwakali has been good, Christie has been shite. Same old story. Nwakali has done a lot of the heavily lifting, Christie has been poor, and add to that Shinnie is on a booking.
