Scottish Premiership - Kilmarnock v Aberdeen

Fee is going to be an issue for any Scottish based player who is under contract as we will be seen as having money to spend especially if we sell Miovski for a bundle of cash.

From what you read about Thelin's style of play, then if he's going to implement it here he'll need players with discipline and energy. Particularly from the midfield forward. So you'd imagine any of our squad who possess those traits will thrive, those with one of the two will probably hang around a while and any who have neither won't last long.

It seems silly to speculate on players coming in at the moment 2bh.  We have absolutely no idea what Thelin is going to make of the squad and what he feels it needs.  I would not be at all surprised if he raids his old club for a couple though.

On that basis feels like we need a bit of idle Elfsborg speculation.  Who's worth a look?

Not sure 2bh, the 60 minutes I watched I was too busy trying to figure out the system to be noticing players.

Time to plunder the scandinavian leagues for this generation's Stavrum, Soldberg, Kjaer, and Guntveit.

Ok, so let’s take a look at elfborg. Haven’t seen them playing so pretty much a wild guess based on a random 5 minute internet search. These ‘could’ be some of their better players. Taking a peak at positional needs, anyone know anything about…

Isaak Pettersen - 26 - keeper, Swedish, 2 caps

Michael baidoo - 24 - attacking mid, ghanian

Arber zeneli - 29 - left winger - Swedish born, kosovo internationalist

andri fannar baldursson - 22 - center mid - Iceland internationalist  - on loan from bologna of all places, been out on loan for about 3 years, figure something out there?? At 6’2’’ sounds like the type of player we’d like.

ahmed qasam - 20 - right mid - Swedish

Couple of central defenders of decent value but we need to rid ourselves of one or two before spending there I think.

Seems talented but not what I think we need. We have clarkson and McGrath who provide flair in center mid, think we need size, strength, and physicality/mobility in the middle. We are too lightweight and other than shinnie we don’t have the battling type. Hoping we add flair/creativity from a couple of new wide players.

I'm not a big McGrath fan. Feel like he vanished when things are tough. ( Could be said about a few this year).

I agree about a bit of presence and mobility. Our best displays this year have been without shinnie. Is that coincidence? Will Jimmy drop him to bring in a lynchpin or put trust in Dante?

Just noticed hoilett actually turns 34 next month. Cannot see many teams better than us offering a better opportunity…..or more money. One year deal seems right. Must have enjoyed the last month, been a bit of a fans favorite.

Current-gen Stavrum - yes please, we could do with a poacher to support Bojan if he stays ... but especially if Bojan moves on

Current-gen Kjaer - yes please, we need an old brute who commands the box and flies at saves like his life depends on it. Doohan did well against Livi, but we need to beef up our choice of keepers, assuming we bin Roos

Current-gen Guntveit - yes please, we had this in Rama, but haven't replaced him yet

Current-gen Solberg - no thanks. He was absolute gash, and we've got more than our fair share of them in our defence already

But of a surprise this. Expected he'd be destined for bigger things than St Mirren and this actually looks like a step down.

There should be a different thread for this type of news.

He was linked to a move to Aberdeen, therefore this is the correct thread to stop other posters from asking if we've made a bid for him yet.

Decision: Overruled.

It's been in the other transfer news thread for a day, it's old news. Next you'll be telling us about a general election. In the Scotland squad thread.

I put it in the other transfer news thread. I was surprised he moved there. I know he has stated he wanted to move to England but seems a really odd move and is clearly more to do with money than career progression. A right kick in the stones for St Mirren that he would rather play at Bolton and Rotherham than play in Europe with them.

That may as well be on a different forum.  This is the problem with different sub-forums and it's something I'll be raising at the Donstalk end of season cruise.

Funny you should say that Rico, as I've been thinking for a few weeks that he could be a possible replacement for Roos.

Another possible could be the young Icelandic keeper that Elfsborg sold to Brentford for a couple of million last year. Not suggesting we sign him as  won't get him on a permanent but maybe a season long loan to give us some breathing space to secure long term replacement

Not sure how much truth there is in it, but this is being reported in "the rags" this morning.

Also running with the Robbie McCrorie story

Sticking this in here, just cause I can, and can't actually find a thread about him and don't feel its worth starting one.

That's the sort of lazy attitude that leads us to discussing former St Mirren players on two separate threads.

I see Stevie Mallan is a free agent after leaving salford. While that was league two, I’m sure it was the paycheck that attracted him to that club, I do feel he’s Scottish premiership level. Worth a look? Seem to remember him being a decent player for hibs and st mirren. While I don’t see him being a star summer signing, we have minimal width and he could be a decent squad player for us.

He wasn't great for Hibs. Occasionally scores a peach, but generally hides. Like a poor man's McGrath (unless he's improved). Workrate not there, pace neither. If he's lucky he might get a gig with St Johnstone, but he looked like he'd be on a downward trajectory, towards championship level.

Edit: unless he's good to have about the place

Guess it depends if he’d kick his grannie or not. Not interested otherwise.
