So you'd be signing a back up, when we already have a back up. Unless McGarry leaves in January (possible to be fair) then it's not a position we need to worry about.

Let’s end this. I’m not looking for a back up left back. I just gave you reasons why I felt if a full back was a priority it should be left over right. Didn’t get why you felt right back should be our main issue. In an ideal world we sign a player who can play both.

I did a wee bit of dive into Mcgarrys minutes.   Unless I missed any this is his game time so far this season.

The last time we saw him was 12 mins vs queens park (notable to add for this one he came on when we were really chasing a goal, this was the game Keskinen scored on his debut to win it last minute) game 7
24 mins vs qos Game 1
17 vs east kilbride game 2
24 vs dumbarton game 4 and scored.

He's been mostly warming the bench since but didn't make it a couple of times.  Given Mackenzies form I don't think we can read too much into that but it would be really interesting to see a journo ask Thelin just how much Mcgarry was in his thoughts.  I will say this though, when Mackenzie got booked against der hun it did look like Mcgarry was going to come on for a minute, I even recall Crocker mentioning it in commentary so that would imply that Thelin has some faith in him.  As I said previously though, come the end of December we should have a much better idea of how much of a future he has at the club.

Actually got me thinking about loanees we’ve brought in mid season. Certainly want Mackenzie to sign the new contract but would take Max Lowe back in a heartbeat. At Sheffield Wednesday presently but can’t tell if he’s a regular starter. Plus Barry Bannan is club captain there so it can’t be that high a level!

On his contract situ MacKenzie has given a chute of hope: 

“We’ve had a lot of massive games and the Scotland call-up as well. It has all been going on. It is something I will need to think about shortly. I don’t have any update at the minute.”

I took from his interview that he is doing nothing until January now and will see what offers are out there at a minimum now. Suspect he will sign a precontract elsewhere. His contract should have been sorted in the summer. If process is working recruitment team will have a replacement lined up already.

Especially all of the body language in the interview. I know he’s a bit of an awkward guy and not overly comfortable being interviewed, but it certainly suggested he’s not staying despite his love for the club.
