The only reason they’d sign him would be to weaken us, which is of course a possibility. Not so sure. McGrath is quality and our best player by a country mile. Very under rated by our support. Everyone thought Liam Scales would not play when he went back and he was a first pick for Rodgers, Ryan Christie the same after his loan finished. Jonny Hayes also became a first team regular after moving across to the dark side. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted December 5 Report Posted December 5 Really curious to how this window plays out, both coming and going. Not a great window, summer is the more opportunistic window obviously. JT surely now has a good feel for the squad and knows needs/wants, and that he can keep/move on. devlin will run himself into the ground. Didnt see the celtic game but he certainly tired against hearts, think it would be great if we can pick up a squad player who can play right and left back. Obviously Mackenzie staying/going is a factor there too. we’re weak in central defense, do we bring in a loanee, sign now, or wait until the summer? I think summer will be the answer and incoming from Scandinavia, and we continue to develop ruby and Molloy for now. We’re weak at left mid, plus McGrath may not stay even though he’s played 10 of late. Would be nice to bring in there, maybe a loanee as we did hoilet for the latter part of last season. up top is a concern, I’d prefer we sent nisbet back and tried to get another player in. Sokler and duk can play there too, topi possibly, but would be nice to get someone else there. plenty of fringe players can go if we get offers, but I am certainly thinking we may look to cash in duk and McGrath as we have options to them. Losing Mackenzie now would be a blow and I expect him to be with us until summer. Quote
Jute Posted December 16 Report Posted December 16 With Jack Milne and Vinnie Besuijen both looking at being out for a few months think we definitely need to get in a right back and wide player as priority now. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted December 16 Report Posted December 16 My Xmas list has a full back who can play both sides, a left winger, and a center forward. If Santa really cares he’ll get us a stud of a central defender too. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted December 16 Report Posted December 16 What’s the injuries to Milne and Vinny?? Quote
BigAl Posted December 16 Author Report Posted December 16 1 hour ago, OrlandoDon said: What’s the injuries to Milne and Vinny?? Vinny is allegedly on crutches and every possibility that his season is over. Milne awaiting results of scan and potentially out for a couple of months. Real possibility that Nisbet could be recalled by Millwall also The squad is starting to look a little thread bare, suspect the transfer window is coming at the right time for us. One positive is Pape being almost ready to make his come back, but which Pape are we going to get, the season 2023/24 one or the one of earlier this season ? Quote
Jute Posted December 17 Report Posted December 17 Scott Burns article suggesting right back and wide are priorities for this transfer window. Sounds like he is just jumping to same conclusions as most on here rather than anything manager has said. Quote
BigAl Posted December 17 Author Report Posted December 17 Milne has broken ankle and out for at least three months Quote

Jute Posted December 19 Report Posted December 19 Got to assume we will be getting a few in this window. Squad was always thin and recent injuries have just highlighted that. Hopefully the work has already been done and some of the new players will be in early in the window. Quote
Jute Posted December 19 Report Posted December 19 Stick this in here as it might affect the transfer window. New head of recruitment appointed. Quote

BigAl Posted December 20 Author Report Posted December 20 Pretty shit but we all probably knew it was coming Any update on our left back or about Pape returning to the the fold ? Quote
Stewart Posted December 20 Report Posted December 20 1 minute ago, BigAl said: Pretty shit but we all probably knew it was coming Any update on our left back or about Pape returning to the the fold ? Pics of MacKenzie in training today so hopefully means he's fit. Surely looking at cover or a replacement as it looks more likely he'll be leaving I'd think. Quote
BigAl Posted December 20 Author Report Posted December 20 Whilst a right back rather then left, I wonder if Keelan Adams of Falkirk might be on our radar ? Seems to be getting very good write ups but in his first season of step up from Cumbernauld Colts and under contract until the summer of 2026. Quote
Slim Posted December 20 Report Posted December 20 Calvin Ramsay not getting many games on loan at Wigan, could be an option. Quote

I'd be very wary of getting a loanee right back in of the potential calibre of Ramsay. He'll be looking for first team minutes, which if given would relegate Devlin. I think if you're going to do that with a guy who's performed so well all season, then it needs to be for an actual signing, and not some temporary measure who leaves after six months. Reekie_Red Posted December 22 Report Posted December 22 (edited) I've only managed to watch a handful of games in full online this season, the rest has all been the YouTube highlights and the post match analysis in the papers and on here. But from what ive seen and read, most critical rhis January is at least one experienced CB. Rubi and Molloy are too inexperienced to be together at the same time, and they seem to be directly responsible for at least one goal each game at the moment. An experienced CB alongside a rotating Rubi/Molloy could work. MacDonald has the experience but has all the confidence of a long country walk after a plate of undercooked prawns. And we seem to have a cast of a thousand pisspoor #9's. It's often slim pickings in the January window, but we need to probably spend a fair bit of our Miovski winnings and land ourselves a decent striker. Nisbet doesn't get enough game time, Sokler struggles, Ambrose makes Leon Mike look like Messi, and I simply don't believe Pape will find his early season form particularly with the rest of the squad in its current slump Edited December 22 by Reekie_Red Quote
