RicoS321 Posted Monday at 23:24 Report Posted Monday at 23:24 We've managed to hold onto Ambrose, that's the main thing. It's always a worry in January. 2 Quote

Reekie_Red Posted Monday at 23:47 Report Posted Monday at 23:47 I'm just glad it's over and done with (admin-hour aside). My OCD can stop checking the transfer news the moment I wake up. And I no longer have updates every 5 minutes about what Mathys Tel is currently wearing. Overall, a good window for us. Strengthened Recruited in the right areas of the field, and have jettisoned some of the deadweight Quote
OrlandoDon Posted Monday at 23:55 Report Posted Monday at 23:55 Did we sign two lefties today?? Quote

DantheDon Posted Monday at 23:57 Report Posted Monday at 23:57 Kinda sad the way it worked out with Duk. The run in during the first season under Robson he was great and I feel like he would have been remembered very fondly if it weren’t for his antics over the summer. I don’t think he’s ready for La Liga, so even if the rumoured sell on is correct I doubt it will amount to much. 1 Quote
Panda Posted yesterday at 00:11 Report Posted yesterday at 00:11 Appears we tried to get a second striker on loan but couldn't agree on playing time. I'd have been a bit disappointed if we signed some youngster with little first team experience and then were compelled to play him, so glad we've not folded on that. So short term at least here's what we've got (I've actually done it 4-2-3-1 but would prefer 4-3-3). Long term McGrath, Sokler, Vinnie and Molloy to come back. Still doesn't look like a team that has a lot of goals in it, but hopefully it's at least more solid. Lot of players that "need time" I'd say, namely Dabbagh, Okkels, Jensen and Knoester. Quote
manc_don Posted yesterday at 00:20 Report Posted yesterday at 00:20 Incidentally, when is Mitov back ? Quote

BigAl Posted yesterday at 09:09 Author Report Posted yesterday at 09:09 On paper it seems a fairly reasonable transfer particularly for a January one. The one thing missing for me was a midfielder, unless the plan now that we still have McKenzie is to move Jensen into the midfield Obviously the proof of the pudding is in the eating and we will see how it pans out in the coming weeks. A lack of Scottish players is a concern. We should be blending decent Scottish experience and also youth, with good foreign imports. Not sure what’s happened to Fletcher Boyd? Would have expected him to be a better option than Ambrose but he’s not getting a look in. Quote

He's played a fair bit for cove, and Hartley has been very complimentary, but it's a large step to our first team. Would hate to see him sit on our bench sharing minutes with Nisbet and Ambrose, as he'll end up getting very few minutes. If one of those two had left in this window, I'd feel a bit more comfortable with a young lad taking a spot ahead of going out on loan to, perhaps, the championship. I'd have thought that six months at a championship side with a view to challenging next season might be optimal. Saying that, we did try to sign another striker, so perhaps Thelin feels it's imperative to have four strikers competing for one position. Quote
Jute Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago Reading club statement I think it reads like he is here to go into first team squad. Hartley said a couple of weeks back that losing Emsile and Marshall back to Aberdeen was his biggest concern for the window so assuming he was doing well. Had considered heading to Livingston v Cove cup game on Saturday to see how they were getting on. Actually that’s a point he played for Cove in pervious rounds so is cup tied for Sunday. Quote

For euro squads (and somehow I'm still optimistic we will make Europe) you need 4 homegrown players trained at club from 18-21 and 8 league grown players trained in the league 18-21. You get 25 spots and are penalised 1 spot for each homegrown place you can't fill. Players under 21 that have been at your club for two seasons do not need to be registered. Right now the only trained at club from 18-21 player we have is Mackenzie and he's most likely off in the summer. Quote

I was hinting at him being too shite for the amateur fifth division. Quote

We can just chuck guys like Boyd and Emslie in and just not play them. Realistically, we don't have a big enough squad to worry about only having 22-23 players registered for Europe anyway, and there's a strong chance we don't get there. Edit: just now, it would be Nisbet, Devlin, Shinnie, Doohan, MacKenzie, Boyd, Emslie and Milne. Edited 20 hours ago by RicoS321 Quote
