Reekie_Red Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 I know Okkels hasn't played much since leaving Elfsborg. But the fact he has played 3 years under JT tells me he knows how to play in Jimmy's systems. If he's a left winger, don't we already have Keskinen in that position? Still urgently need defenders ... possibly four of them. Our team needs a refresh of confidence at the back. Molloy out long term, Devlin and Jack clearly still recovering. And Rubi I'd happily not see in a red jersey again. Hopefully we can agree a fee for Jensen and hes the first of four swift signings in defence Quote

I’d say that was cos we were shite and trying to get a winning formula. 1 Quote

Only played 5 games for Utrecht and 10 games for Preston in last two years. Wonder if this means Duk or McGrath are away in this window? Read he left elfborg for 3 million but was then injured. Got to Preston then they immediately changed managers and the new/current managers plays without wingers so doesn’t fit the system. At least we’ve got a player who knows our manager and his system, plus has played with sivert so has some comfort/familiarity. Quote

Yeah missed 6 games for Utrecht due to injury then could not get his place back. Joined PNE week before they changed manager to Heckingbottom who plays a system that does not use wingers. As you say Thelin knows him so not such a punt. I do wonder where he is going to play as Keskinen has looked better on the left than on the right. Do we move Keskinen back to the right or play Okkels there. Quote
Slim Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 I imagine they’ll be quite comfortable swapping wings quite frequently. Hayes and McGinn used to do that too during matches. Quote

tlg1903 Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 So, if the rumours are to be believed about the 400k bid for Jensen, we currently have 1.2 million on the table for 2 cb's. Say what you like about Cormack but he defo puts his money where his mouth is. Quote
RicoS321 Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 I'm wondering if it's an either/or with the defenders. If not, that's a fair outlay. Quote

My feeling on Ruby is if you put him next to an experienced CB who takes charge of the back line he would probably be quite handy. Kinda like what Miller used to do with Mcleish Quote

Elgindon Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 Aye,havent quite ruled out Ruby yet, depends what sort of character he ends up alongside, though I think he may be at the point of no return with some fans. Ruby and Molloy physically look an odd pairing, and there doesnt seem to be much of a bond/alliance playing wise either between the 2 Quote

Kinda like what Miller used to do with Mcleish He can be developed into the sort of defender who wins most headers, clears his lines without taking risks and focuses on keeping things simple. Problem is, that’s not really the sort of defender that is effective in Thelin’s system. We need defenders who are comfortable on the ball, both in terms of passing and keeping possession in tight areas. The type of defender that will be comfortable playing in midfield. That’s never going to be Rubezic. You can see the difference in MacDonald looking solid playing in a Robson team and looking like a fish out of water playing for Thelin. Quote
