Elgindon
Ill take a late soaking on the Y,if it means getting a late winner,....in the unlikely provider of Peter Ambrose It was a patchy performance, but as others have said, you feel we're not seeing the finished article, but also confident that Jimmy sees the same thing, and theres still more to come from us.McGrath has been one of our more consistent performers, but he was pretty off it today, possibly as a result of not being used to the position he was in today, but hopefully he gets a run at it to see what he can do.We defended quite well, maybe missed Shinnies buzz in midfield. Interested to see the line up for Sevco.
RicoS321
Just back, what a result. We totally dominated that second half, it was like we were playing a team from the championship. Top marks to the defence who were solid when required, but also moved the ball forward so quickly and were happy to take it into feet throughout, Mitov included. They couldn't get near us, like we had an extra man. However, if it wasn't for a centre half, a fullback and a donkey, we'd have been going home with one point. But really, the win is Thelin's. For years, including McInnes, we've had managers sitting in, comfortable with their tactics for 70 minutes, maybe tweaking something small or making a like for like sub. Now we've got a manager who witnesses what's happening and makes changes to personnel and tactics that get us goals and points. Morris was fantastic when he came on, but it was also a change of tactic, from Keskinen coming infield and switching wings, to us playing with width and Devlin overlapping. Duk shifted in to try and pick something up at the back post and McKenzie playing high. Shinnie comes on with the instruction to play deep and cover the fullback belting forward (he was at right back for large parts), then Duk moved to centre forward in place of Sokler, who couldn't adapt from being the man over the top in the first, to being the penalty box striker in the second. Which comes to Ambrose. It wasn't that he is a good player, it's that he - like Nisbet - plays in the penalty box in a way that Sokler and Duk don't. Sometimes it's best to have a poorer player more suited to the role than a good player not playing to his strengths, and Thelin seems to not only always get that right, but also get the overall balance right and at the right time. Besuijen played well and just offered fresh legs and a different challenge for them to think about. He didn't just throw on a bunch of players because they weren't the guys already on the park. Obviously, it helps that we have that rock solid base behind to build from, but the manager has built that confidence and solidity. Just brilliant. Probably the best Dons I've seen this century. Maybe.

manc_don
Was an excellent second half performance. Identified what was wrong and made them when necessary. This team keep just finding a way to grind out the right result and that has to be down to the management team. They offered absolutely nothing so I felt like we deserved it, but interesting to see how we dealt with a team happy to give us the bulk of the possession and press. thought sokler should have scored but will give him the benefit of the doubt as it was wet and the deflection took all the pace off the ball. Shady mo was very good and did what he needed to. That offside call was very tight, it’s the type of var offside I absolutely hate. Also special mention to Vinny’s effort, that didn’t look far off at all. He would have had the extra bit between his teeth to prove to Goodwin. Here’s to a happy Halloween on Wednesday, bring on the zombies!

Jute
As others have said great second half. Felt we were to slow moving ball in First half and United were content with playing for a draw from the off. Thelin again made changes to system that made a difference and we were much better.
OrlandoDon
Tough result for united, good opportunity for rangers to get a little breathing space tomorrow in their battle for 3rd. Rangers only 11 ahead of hearts, sure they’ll still be looking in their rear mirror there too. interesting to note that we are 20 ahead of hearts after 9 games. By that average, in May after 36 games we’re 80 ahead of them?

tlg1903
I tell you what, Goodwin showed a lot of class in his post match Interview. You could see how sick he was when the goal went in but there was no hint of bitterness when he spoke after. OK hands up who was really confused by Keskinen going off at half time? I assumed it was a knock but maybe JT wanted Morris on instead as Keskinen had been a little wasteful whilst being generally lively. Morris did well it has to be said, he really has become quite effective at just getting to the line and trying to get a ball across. I'm not sure he was quite as good as some quarters have made out but it he defo made a solid impact on the game. Delighted for Ambrose, there are defo still question marks there but scoring the winner with your first touch is never not going to go down well. He nearly won us a pen too but he was over eager to get forward. He defo could have held his run by a half a second and still outpaced the utd defender. Only one team was looking to win that game in the second half and we were well worthy of it in the end. Utd were stodgy all over the park though and it was some save from the keeper from Sokler too. You could possibly question the finish but I think that would be harsh, 99 times out of 100 that goes in. Der hun next.... Can't pretend I haven't had an eye on this one for a wee while. The minimum we could go ahead of them with a win is 9 points. Minimum. I wouldn't write off St mirren being hard work for them tomorrow either btw. They will probably win but imagine they don't... Then a win over them would put us double digits ahead before it's even fucking Halloween. Yes Please.
KennyFuckinPowers
Forgot my login details and have been AWOL for some time. Sat at work this morning and had time to kill, so managed to get back at it on here. Love what is happening right now for us, and long may it continue, last night epitomised what Thelin has done up until now, Ambrose came on a few weeks ago ( I can't remember who it was against, but he was absolutely awful and off the pace ) and was left out of the next squad altogether, back in the squad last night and ends up scoring that all important goal. Dundee United defended well, they did a good job at nullifying us in all honesty, but 2nd Half they just couldn't cope and we started creating more clearer chances and got that all important and frankly utterly deserved goal. Bit surprised at their league standing, judging by last night all they had to offer was a long throw, seemed like that's what they were playing for, bit weird in all honesty, a handy tool to have now and then, but it's literally all they offered right up until the death when their player balloons it over the crossbar. I've no real issues with Goodwin, he did try his best, ultimately his stubbornness cost him his job here and he did have a slight chocolate attitude, hence why he's slotted in nicely to that mob. They are a good match for each other, think they're something they're not. Regardless how this season pans out, I have seen enough already to believe that we will be okay and then some once Thelin gets his squad the way he wants it, right now he's getting a tune out of the current crop, but some of them will move on and he'll have to replace them, hopefully they are of Sivert Nilsen and Palaversa quality.

tlg1903
Just watched the story of the match and it gives you a different angle where you can see vinnies face when the penalty is chalked off. He is GUTTED, bet he was planning on girfuy for Goodwin had he stuck the pen away.

As Jimmy says “we must stay humble”, don’t give our opposition ammunition. Goodwin is an irrelevance.
