Scottish Premiership - Aberdeen v Celtic

I'm not sure Clarkson, McGrath and Shayden have enough bite for me. All nice to haves when you're winning but not sleeves up and win players on a shitty winter afternoon in paisley

We can carry one but not three.

Make that two. Shady haS been really good TBF

Aye, probably been our best player this half. McGrath usually not afraid to get stuck in, but barely been involved. Think I'd take Duk and Nisbet on for him and Sokler. Although I expect Thelin to give them a mild chat at halftime, and they instantly then turn to world beaters. We've been okay, but not great. The goal was a hoof from them, but they've contained us fairly easily too and deserve their lead.

Ah well, it was bound to happen. We weren't great today at all. Lots of effort, but not very much zip about the play, save for the first part of the second. Very comfortable for them in the end. We looked a little bit tired, weirdly. Even likes of Palaversa who only came on as a sub didn't really provide much. Duk had a five minute spell, and a back heel (was it him, I couldn't see properly on the stream and it didn't replay). Anyway, we'll bounce back against the Hibs hopefully. We still have the "prize" of a full round of fixtures undefeated if we beat them.

Most dangerous team won. Passengers everywhere. Now the real work has to start.

No threat from us at all today. Sick of watching us try to cut the ball back instead of firing it across the face.

Another game where the physicality was questioned.

You mean the thing that has resulted in several goals this season? We probably overuse it, but we often play against teams with deep lying centre backs, which makes the square ball easy to cut out. The stats guys will have looked at it and decided that's where we'll get the most goals (including today). It's fairly normal to see balls fired across either blocked for a corner or straight through, the percentage ball is likely the cutback. I don't remember any today where we were beyond the fullback and their centre backs weren't already in place, we were quite slow to get up the pitch when Morris broke.

Surely we brought a nisbet in to get in front of the centre half.

Both strikers were pointless today.

Yes and no. Nisbet will go where he's most likely to get it played to him. If they're sitting deep, then he'll hang back. Like he did for the goal. But aye, they were fairly pointless.

We were off it today. To slow in moving ball and always looking for an extra touch. Out muscled in the middle of the park as well. Not sure why Sokler started as was never his type of game against a physical St Mirren back line. As said above only really in it for 20 minutes of second half then fell out of it again. St Mirren deserved their victory although without seeing it again thought they should have reduced to 10 which would have changed the game.

Shite way to go down but saints clearly wanted it more. Disappointed for such a passive performance after the international break but felt like this was going to go against us with the conditions. True test will be how we pick it up on Tuesday.

Having seen highlights definitely not red.

I think he only gets a yellow to placate beaton's ego. The linesman is right there and gives the throw. Why does Beaton believe he has a better view? There were no Dons players charging at Gogic and trying to start a fight, why couldn't he take three seconds to ask the linesman if he'd taken the ball cleanly? I'd be raging with a yellow for that, he was completely in control and a good bit ahead of the Dons player. They'd be as well banning sliding tackles.

Definitely not a red card but I'm almost certain the assistant signalled for a foul straight away.

Didn't think we got going in the first half but both goals were very poor.

Hopefully David Gray is still in charge on Tuesday and we can get a win.

I thought he had too, but watched it on the highlights and he flags for the throw. Obviously we don't know what they're saying to one another on the mics, but Beaton was across so quick, I doubt they'd have had time to converse.

Didn’t see a great deal of the game but here’s my 4 takeaways -

st mirren were the better team. We’ve had games where our opponents have been better in periods but have missed chances and we’ve won. We were due this game.

was this a game we start shinnie palaversa and sivert? More muscle/graft? Something for JT to consider this Scottish winter.

how many goals have we lost this year where our central defender(s) are to blame? Haven’t seen the first goal again but another situation where Molloy doesn’t win a header? We play in a league with plenty of long ball down the middle, an area Molloy has shown clear weakness. I know he’s done well and is young, but neither he nor ruby are consistently good. Central defense is our weak area in our team.

while I say central defense is our weak area, it’s a tough choice between that and the 9. Through nisbet and sokler offered very little. We need a new 9. Maybe harsh on nisbet as he looked fit and sharp the other week, but we saw so litttle from either center forward yesterday. With nisbet only a loaner I certainly hope/expect we are looking.
