Elgindon Posted Thursday at 17:47 Report Posted Thursday at 17:47 Conditions didnt help, but that was shite whatever the reason. Depending how the transfer window goes,I'd use the rest of the season to try a few energetic youngsters,....and to tinker with our playing system a bit more to suit different games, our build up is too predictable.Happy to forego Euro fitba Quote
Slim Posted Thursday at 17:52 Report Posted Thursday at 17:52 I can’t see Thelin relying on youth too much. Today he preferred having Nisbet play deep behind Peter Ambrose with obvious results instead of giving Fletcher Boyd a run out. Quote

I’m all for giving youth a chance and Boyd got his in somewhat meaningless games last year. Very different to giving him minutes in those conditions with our current form/confidence in a game we’re desperately needing to win. today was something, we missed a few decent chances and they score two absolute crackers. No clue how to fix this as it’s multiple signings needed asap. Quote
manc_don Posted Thursday at 19:48 Author Report Posted Thursday at 19:48 Working on the basis we probably won’t see any significant signings immediately, does he have to change his system to ride this current period? Whilst it’s the same players who started the season, it’s also the same players that started last year. So we know they have shitebaggery in them. I don’t think not qualifying for Europe is an option, isn’t it the last season a decent chunk of cash is guaranteed? haven’t watched the game back yet, but did we look like creating anything? None of the strikers are any good, so was surprised to see Nisbet on the scoresheet, will that be the last time we see him? Quote

His freekick was also shite, but the keeper was even shiter. Better than Ambrose though, which could be said about any footballer currently playing in Scotland. He definitely needs to change the system, unless he can get new signings in quickly. I'm not convinced - and said so before he joined - we'll ever be able to play the way he wants on our budget. It took teams a round of fixtures to work us out, and injuries and tiredness did the rest. MacDonald and Doohan showed today how unsuited they are to the system, and we've yet to find a number nine that can fathom it. We've basically knackered half the team playing the system for four months. Hopefully he can change to a hybrid of the existing system, where we play percentage football when necessary. McInnes would have won those last few games by grinding them out, and being very tight at the back. Not a great start to the year, but the traffic has improved and it was easy to get a seat in the boozer too. Quote
Jute Posted Friday at 08:32 Report Posted Friday at 08:32 That first half was very poor from us. Created very little and defended poorly. While Wright’s goal was a wonder strike the build up to it involved Doohan flapping at a cross and our defenders and midfielders having several chances to go out and close the ball down but to a man failing to do so. Second half we actually created several good opportunities for our strikers but Nisbet and Ambrose managed to miss them all. Duk was unlucky with shot off the bar but his dive just before he was taken off was criminal. He was passed his man and decided to dive instead of driving into the box. Special mention to McDonald who managed to produce an even worse performance than he did at Kilmarnock. Looked completely disinterested and clearly knows he is on his way out. Said a while back this poor run of form was Thelin’s first big test and at the moment he is failing it. Club need to get him in new players that can play the system he wants to play urgently and he needs to get them playing well quickly or we are in danger of falling out of European positions or even the top 6. I've said to a few pals the past few performances have reeked of players knowing they are away soon and not wanting to get injured. Hopefully we start to see some in's and outs next week as after motherwell we are home to hearts and then away to der hun midweek. Quote
