I really thought that would work. Watched the pictures there of the away support at full-time, lot of abuse being shouted at the players. In fairness, don't think the work rate was in question. But I can't remember a game where I've watched a team just make so many wrong decisions. It's now 796 minutes without a league goal from open play. And we're so easy to score against. The reason I thought Thelin would be a success was because he played a direct style that I expected to suit Scottish football. Instead, this passing game he's trying to implement is all very Stephen Glass. Lots of passes that create little, and can't defend. 1 Quote
Jute Posted Saturday at 17:24 Report Posted Saturday at 17:24 That was fucking awful. Beaten again by a team that didn’t even play particularly well to beat us without breaking sweat. Some of our players are clearly not footballers. MacKenzie probably our best player and should have started. Manger subs today looked like those of someone who is running out of ideas. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted Saturday at 17:25 Report Posted Saturday at 17:25 Until we have a legit 9, being an attacking threat will be hard. Lots of fannying around but no killer in the middle fearing opponents. We’re pretty much playing w 10 and no center forward. Buying/loaning another Ambrose nisbet or sokler won’t help either and playing gueye at 9 who is clearly not a 9 doesn’t work either. Quote
Slim Posted Saturday at 17:34 Report Posted Saturday at 17:34 Willie Miller made a good observation, it’s just a complete lack of inspiration. There’s no character, no bite, no accountability. Just technically astute, pragmatic Scandinavian football. Take Jensen for example. I’ll bet he’s never won a 50-50 challenge in his life. Not because he’s a coward, but because he’s done the mental mathematics and concluded the disadvantages outweigh the advantages and therefore statistically it’s better to let the opponents have the ball and try to win it back another way. Except his calculation completely omits the emotional impact of winning a 50-50 both on the team and on the fans. And that seems to be Thelin’s playbook. Every after match interview he talks about emotions and it seems he is the one trying to remove the emotional element of football from our game. Even Shinnie is being neutered. He basically wants to turn us into a footballing IKEA. And the problem with IKEA is that it’s absolute dog shit when put under any kind of pressure or rigorous use. That may work in the Swedish league where everyone is a pragmatic 50-50 avoiding emotionless fanny, but it’s not going to work here. Quote

tom_widdows Posted Saturday at 17:42 Report Posted Saturday at 17:42 (edited) Genuine question if anyone happens to know the answer. Are swedish league clubs banned from scouting their opponents and/ or being allowed to watch replays of previous games? This dons season reminds me of pre internet postal fantasy football I used to play (adverts in the back of 'match' and 'shoot') I decided Kevin Keegan Newcastle united tactics were the way to go and for the first 8 weeks of the season my dons team was top of the league freely scoring (4-3-3 led by Billy Dodds, Duncan Shearer, and by some freak lucky transfer Roberto Donadoni). Week 9 the guy who had Lyngby (bizarre league which also included Barcelona and Sheffield Wednesday) beat me 1-0 and then I went on a run of 8 straight defeats no matfer what I tried. It only came to and end when the commodore 64 (I presume) the people running the business used died and suddenly my team vanished and they sent me completely different dons team in another league (lost interest then) Edited Saturday at 17:43 by tom_widdows Quote

A few weeks ago (think it was the Scottish Cup weekend) I was listening to Sportsound and Tom English was suggesting that there were some players that Jimmy has had enough of. He was challenged by Rory Loy for speaking shite but his response was basically his info had come from a good source and he didn’t just make it up. I’ve had enough of the shitebags too. Fucking weaklings. Pathetic. The minimum requirement is to give 100% every game. Leave everything on the pitch, a lot of these players can’t claim they're doing that. Reekie_Red Posted Saturday at 22:04 Report Posted Saturday at 22:04 Proof will be in the pudding vs Dunfermline. After that interview, JT has to drop those who are in that "lacking commitment" category. He's not going to change his system as that's been the basis behind all of his signings so far. Quote
Slim Posted Saturday at 22:10 Report Posted Saturday at 22:10 Most of the shitebags are his signings. He hasn’t signed a single player with an ounce of the grit and determination that the likes of Shinnie, Mackenzie and Devlin have. If those players are not playing their best, they’ll be giving their best. Thelin has gone to great lengths to stress that a player’s character is one of the most important attributes he looks for. Looking at the players he’s signed so far, including those that have played for him before… well let’s just say we need to get some more points quickly because we do not have a squad with the character for a relegation battle. Hopefully we can sign a couple of gallus minks on Monday (RIP JC). Quote

Apart from Nisbet (who looked as though he still wanted to play for Hibs e.g. when it was played down the left-hand channel and he was ahead of their CB but then, instead of controlling the ball ballooned it over the bar (and graciously put his hand up in the air as if to say "sorry" that was meant to be a cross)) - none of our forwards were signed by JT : Gueye (who seems to be reverting to his pre 5/6 game peak earlier this season) and Ambrose who isn't anyone's idea of a footballer; then we've got Duk whose peak was under Robson's caretaker period (like Roos, Clarkson) and Morris who seems to have reverted to his indecisive nature. But, yes, we need a couple of grizzled old pros in the CB and CM area, short term. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted Sunday at 01:37 Report Posted Sunday at 01:37 Duncan Ferguson is available. Not to manage, stick him up top. Nobody fears us and we have no forward, hope to fuck we bringing someone capable in the next 48 hours who has clear ability and presence. We cannot sign more of the same as I said before, has to be proven that he's better than nisbet sokler or Ambrose, I do believe miovski was already an internationalist when he came here. We don’t need a project or kid, said it before when we were stuck, Simon Murray sounds appealing again! As crushed as I’d be with that as our last minute signing, I’d take him over another unknown, or a foreigner who rarely plays or scores. Quote
