Just like in Elgin when he chested the ball down in our box, lost it because it's not a 5-a-side game and  it resulted in their 1 big chance.  He's good 1-1 in their final third apart from that he's a liability.

He did. Also, Gueye had a couple of moments where he was back "helping" and nearly fucked it for us. I like him up there with Nisbet, but it does mean we've got to be aware of him switching off going back the way. Sportscene pointed out that Gueye didn't touch the ball once in their box, but in just about every other centimetre of the pitch. I think we're still going to have to do a bit of shifting around in the front four, I'm not sure it's quite right.

Always worried when it's played to him anywhere in our half...yes, he can take a touch, draw a couple of defenders and sprint past them, but he's also likely to take a touch which bounces off his knee and we're on the back foot.

Did Mackenzie cross the half way line? Don’t recall one attacking run for him.

He did. He touched the ball 12 times in the opposition half, including twice inside the box, and made four passes into the final third.

He had 40 touches of the ball (more than Topi, Jeppe, Pape and Kevin).

His passing accuracy of 77% was statistically the best in the team, and his passing accuracy in the final third was only bettered by Palaversa. Most of his passes were to Okkels and Nilsen.

Devlin and Jensen were very good though, and probably over the piece were better than him, but I tend to think people rush to criticise Mackenzie because he hasn't signed a new contract.

For me it’s nothing to do with a contract, where is the early season Mackenzie who was bombing up and down the line, getting and creating chances? He was one of our best players, and influencing games. he’s not the same player right now and I feel a fresh Delvin and Jensen are better attacking threats. Mackenzie is a solid defender, not arguing that, but early season Mackenzie got a Scotland call up, he’s not that guy currently.

I thought MacKenzie did well today, and has been fairly solid since coming on against Hibs. He chased a ball down in their half, which the defender got to first, only to turn and see Okkels letting that defender off the hook by being nowhere near his man. The two aren't quite there yet as a partnership, and I suspect that's why he isn't going beyond him quite as often. He's better than Jensen on that side, and I was surprised he came off. I'm not quite sure what the thinking is there to be honest, but maybe he was tiring.

Wasn't that long ago (literally, two weeks ago) where Jensen and Devlin were being criticised v Hibs, and the general feeling was Mackenzie had given the team more balance when he came on.

Like I said at the time of the sub, I didn't think he was playing badly and needed to come off, but as @RicoS321aludes to, maybe it was the partnership with him and Okkels that Thelin was unhappy with rather than them as individuals.

MacKenzie did OK today (he obviously wasn't very pleased when his number was shown as sub off, threw the ball down in a fuck-you gesture) but he's better than OK...since his injury he hasn't once really looked like he'd take on the opposing FB...today in the 2nd half he had an ideal opportunity to drive to the bye-line but hesitated and then turned back and played the easy option.  Don't know whether it's the injury he's had or the muted transfer to englandshire but hopefully he gets back on to his natural game soon.

I do think it’s partly what’s going on in Mackenzie’s head, he doesn’t look a settled player playing freely. also think it’s the McGrath okkels factor. McGrath wasn’t a winger and cut inside a lot, plus he wouldn’t get to the line, so Mackenzie was certainly encouraged to push on. Okkels is a wide player, and I suppose it takes time for okkels to settle, plus time for an understanding and partnership to develop.

i think we got what we needed, three solid fullbacks and we can rest/rotate. Devlin was running on empty and a game and a half rest, plus one game a week for a couple of weeks, has clearly helped him. He was unfairly criticized but looked lively today. Jensen looks decent on either side that having 3 is a nice situation to be in, until summer I assume…

My feeling was it's more a he's not long back from injury and just not quite ready for 90 minutes situation

"Thank fuck", Kevin Nisbet 2025. Nice to wake up to a win in the league. The highlights were rubbish, but I saw from Aaron Jones' coverage that Dabbagh had a chance saved. How'd he go in his first outing?

That may have been his only touch. I think he came on in the 88/89th min.??
