Sonoftherock Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Had a quick look at couple of Oldham message boards... very mixed views, some pleased to see the back of him, others thought there was more to come from him. Personally, I always liked him at Kilmarnock. .... anyway, best of luck gary! Quote
BigAl Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 He'll be great to have about the place! If he was their highest earner he's surely taken a pay cut? Or dare I suggest it...... Jimmy has blown the budget on one player. Surely not Quote

Jute Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Cannot say that I remember him playing against us (ie. not outstandily brilliant but not total shite either or I would have remembered) but Killie supporting mate said he is a decent player and that they were a bit disappointed when he left. Hopefully once and for all kills any chance of Darren Young returning. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 I remember him being a pretty decent player, not spectacular by any means as you say Jute but hopefullya signing that improves the quality. That's what we want. Quote
BigAl Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 I just hope he's better than the last midfielder we signed from Oldham... If however he's as good as the one before Bernard he'll do for me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Kane_(footballer) Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 If however he's as good as the one before Bernard he'll do for me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Kane_(footballer) That's who I was thinking of originally, Al. Cunt of a player. Quote
BigAl Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 That's who I was thinking of originally, Al. Cunt of a player. I liked Kane, dirty, niggly little fucker on the park Quote
Guest bloo_toon_red Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 I recall him being a decent player for Killie and after him getting into the Scotland B side, was surprised to see him go down to Oldham, thought he could've done better. Am I imagining things or did Celtic once sniff about him as a youngster??? Either way, I'm satisfied this could turn out to be a good signing for us. Was important to get a good replacement in for Nicholson and this was probably as good as we could've expected with our limited budget. All the best Gary!!! Quote
chunk Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 I liked Kane, dirty, niggly little fucker on the park From the horses mouth in a Bridge of Allan nightclub when he was out with some friends of mine; I was fucking rubbish when I played for Aberdeen Quote

Killie season ticket holding friend of mine just said to me "I always liked him - good football player" Personally I really can't remember seeing him play, but seems to be generally well thought of. TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 So you got it straight from the horses arse itself eh chunk? Quote

Horribly out of his depth, I shudder just thinking of him plodding about our midfield, which may or may not include the equally ineffectual duo of Peter Hetherston and Ray McKinnon (makes Lee Miller look lively). May well have done towards the end of his time BB, but also played alongside the likes of Connor, Grant and Rico Quote
Sharpie Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 I am thinking new Gary Dempsey here when it comes to MacDonald. People, please tell me I am wrong. Quote

BigAl Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Had the exact same thought myself. Too much negativity boys Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 May well have done towards the end of his time BB, but also played alongside the likes of Connor, Grant and Rico Yeah, was thinking of him being out his depth next to Grant and Rico (Bett as well for a season I think). Just remember getting the "someone walking over your grave" feeling when sitting at Pittodrie and the announcer saying, "...Kane, McKinnon, Dodds and Hetherston". NO KANE. NO PAIN. Quote
kaj Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Gary McDonald! Yesss! I'm delighted! And before you think it, theres not even an ounce of sarcasm in the above! He's one of my 'rant in the pub' players. That is, a player who, after a few pints, I go on about being a perfect AFC signing and how I wish Calderwood would buck up his ideas and get him. All I need now is for the world to travel back in time and JC to get Scott McDonald when he was at Motherwell and Alan Gow when he was at Falkirk in Division 1. This is genuinely spooky (and joyous) for me - I have always rated this guy highly, and thought I was the only one who knew about his ability, and thought I was being profound and clever when I told people about him and how good he was. When he scored his famous goal v Everton, I bored everyone with how he'd have been perfect playing for us and was wasted at Oldham. Well done JC! From me, anyway. Quote
Guest Caroline B Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 The name Gary McDonald makes me cringe. I used to sit next to one at elementary school and he was always cackin in his pants. He followed through one day in his P.E. kit. Smelly little bugger! I assume this is not the same Gary McDonald. Quote
