As festival season is slowly creeping up on us, I thought I'd do my usual and tout my TITP tickets to the bidder mug with the most cash.  Thereafter I'll go online, book flights and take in a festival with better weather, women and beer.

Have done the obvious ones so far:

Benicassim (nr Valencia) - http://fiberfib.com/en/line-up/line-up-2008/

Roskilde (nr Copenhagen) - http://www.roskilde-festival.dk/2008/frontpage/

Summercase (Barcelona/Madrid) - http://www.summercase.com/indexen.html

But prefer to keep on, keeping on and try something new, rather than hitting the same one every year.  Anyone been to any weird and wonderful others they'd recommend?

I've done Sziget in Budapest for 3 out of the last 4 years.

It's on an island in the middle of the Danube in August. It's usually roasty toasty, has a wide variety of acts, cheaps as chips and has the best festival food I've ever sampled by far. Plus you have the added factor of having Budapest to play with as well.

This year I'm off to Balaton Sound on Lake Balaton for 5 days in July. Staying in Siofok which is meant to be very lively.

As for weird and wonderful, I went to the Wickerman Festival a couple of years back in Kircudbrightshire. Very 'alternative', if you will. Certainly a bit rough around the edges. The highlight was getting to see the great Arthur Broon whose voice is still very impressive considering his age.

I'm giving this one some serious thought....

It's a straight choice between beer, sun & rock & roll in Spain or pie, bovril and the Dons at Balmoor Stadium.  Tough choice.

I'd also considered the Exit festival in Serbia as I'm hoping to go down to Croatia for a holiday anyway, but the line-up's not for me.

Going to Rockness in a couple of weeks. Will hopefully be a good one. Bit too many dance acts for my liking which is why I have avoided it so far. As long as a couple of mates want to see the same bands as me then let the good times commence. I need a tent.

ATP is the UKs best festival. No camping, real pubs and the beach is not far away.

There is a nuclear power station not that far away either but the festival is so good I can live it.

No need for a tent for me for Rock Ness.

K - do you normally drive there? Has anyone ever got the bus? Does it really take 45 minutes like it says on the website? I'd be quicker walking...

The bus from Inverness will take about half an hour, as the traffic is pretty busy.  Its a frequent shuttle bus, but you'll probably need tickets up front.

I'm camping this year for a change so taking the car.
