The 21-year-old from Louisiana - who had a summer trial with Rangers cut short by injury - was recommended by former Dons goalkeeper Bobby Clark. Lapira gained his first Irish cap in a friendly with Ecuador last year. The Dons had hoped to be able to field the player in a reserve match with Inverness CT but did not receive international clearance in time. Lapira was named College Player of the Year for 2006, following in the footsteps of former Rangers midfielder Claudio Reyna. He was coached by Pittodrie legend Clark at US college side Notre Dame and was selected by Toronto FC in the Major League Soccer superdraft last week. whit ever happened tae this boy ? Quote
