The Dons’ contract expires this summer when he will part company with the Reds. And Cherries boss Kevin Bond is keen on sealing a reunion with Lovell. However, Bond’s hands are tied as the club battles its way out of administration. But chairman Jeff Mostyn’s takeover bid should be finalised within a month which would allow the club to re-enter the transfer market. Lovell’s half-brother, Eddie Howe, is a Bournemouth legend. He was forced to retire from playing last summer but is now the reserve team coach and the pair could be reunited at Dean Court. Bond made it clear last summer that Lovell is a player he rates highly. “Steve Lovell is someone I admire,†he said. “I worked with him at Portsmouth and I believe he would improve us.†Bournemouth have already raised £250,000 following the sale of striker Sam Vokes to Wolves to help improve their financial situation. They have been in administration since early February and were hit with a 10-point penalty for their poor financial state. That ultimately hampered their chances of staying up and they were relegated to League Two, although they did make a real fight for survival. Meanwhile, Lovell’s place in the Aberdeen squad is likely to be taken by Richie Foran. Jimmy Calderwood is keen to take the Irishman north again. Foran has struggled to make an impact at Southend since his switch south from Motherwell last year. The 27-year-old has been on loan at Darlington but is available for a £50,000 fee. He is expected to visit Pittodrie for a stringent medical following recent knee surgery. If he does sign for the Dons he would join Gary McDonald, Bertrand Bossu and Sammy Stewart as Calderwood’s other summer new recruits. Barry Nicholson’s Dons departure is gathering pace after Norwich City confirmed they are interested in the midfielder. Former Aberdeen keeper Bryan Gunn is now head of player recruitment at Carrow Road and has received positive reports about the Scotland cap. Preston North End and Nottingham Forest are also interested in Nicholson. Quote

Replacing one player who hardly played due to injury with another who's record is even worse does not make much sense. Foran hardly a prolific scorer either. Quote
