Guest swaddon Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 They used a Canadian-based company called Optimal Planning Solutions to draw up the fixtures. Apparently they specialise in sports fixture scheduling and are responsible for the NFL and the American baseball leagues. Some of the factors they were told to take into account by the SPL were:- Not having Celtic and Hamilton playing away from home on the opening day. Not having any club playing 4 out of 5 games either home or away No long-haul journeys over the festive period, or midweek A fair balance of home and away midweek games No clubs playing successive home or away matches several times No club to play 3 home or 3 away matches against another team Didn't they say just the other week that there was no way they could arrange the fixtures to suit, and that it was just what the SPL computer spat out? Jute Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 They did well then. Wednesday, 04 March 2009 St Mirren v Aberdeen, 19:45 Wonder what the Alamo will be like after dark. Actually quite happy with the fixtures. Needed one of the easier games at home first as going to miss it for mates wedding so Caley meets that. Quote

"It comes as no real surprise really when you see what they did at the end of last season to Rangers. "Where is the sense in sending us to Aberdeen before what could possibly be a massive European game, and then having to play Celtic on the Saturday lunchtime after that - what are they thinking about?" It still amuses me that Rangers complain about everything and anything which doesn't involve the SPL bending over backwards to accomodate them, do they think that the game should be changed and played at Ibrox just to give them a better chance of a win before Europe? Quote
Superstar Tradesman Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 One minute they're complaining that the SPL doesn't give them enough competition and that's why they do poorly in Europe then the next we're too tough a match for them before they play in Europe. They just sound like a right bunch of greetin' faced, spoilt bairns who are so used to getting their own way. Fuck 'em! Quote
Holyjoe Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 They did well then. Wednesday, 04 March 2009 St Mirren v Aberdeen, 19:45 That one could well be the first time we go to their new ground, no? Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 That reads like one of those joke news stories. Totally. It could have come from the Daily Hun. Oh, wait . . . Quote
10menwent2mow Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 I really dont see what all the fuss is about, over the course of the season they will have to play the same number of games as Celtic against the same opposition, if they manage to get more points than them they will probably win the league. Moaning faced cunts!!!! Quote
tom_widdows Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 strathclydes finest will be sweating over August 30th Potential for Rangers, celtic, Aberdeen and hearts fans all to be in Glasgow City centre on the same day Quote
Stewart Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 No reason why we can't get at least 10 points in August Quote
Guest swaddon Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 If Rangers are as good as they think they are, then there should be no complaints about how the fixture list has worked out for them. Everyone has to play each other at some point, so they should pull their heads in and stop complaining. The list has been published, they can't have it altered now because they don't like it. Quote
??? Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 They can't have it altered now because they don't like it. No, but they can do their utmost to let the world know that they're not happy about it. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 This may be unpopular but no-one from Rangers FC has made any comments about the fixtures thus far have they? Just some jumped up bigoted fuckwit rentaquote dipshite who makes out he represents huns fans. Quote

??? Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 To be fair to Rangers, the SPL did f*ck them over something rotten with the fixtures toward the end of last season. They would've won the quadruple if they were treated fairly. Quote

Guest Caroline B Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 I think the computer has made a mistake. Why are we not having our annual first day trip to Tannalice? Someone should be hauled over the coals for that one Quote

Totally agree on the first part. On the second point, I think they have already shown last season that they can have it altered if they don't like it. It'll happen again this season, guaranteed.
