Guest da auld warhorse Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 If you could pick any player from the past to play for Aberdeen who would it be I would pick Martin Buchan a very talented player who did well for Man Utd as well. When i watched him play he had the skills to make it today at the highest level Quote
baggy89 Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 That I've seen play, Jim Bett. He could play the passes that would would make Mackie a 30 goal a season striker. Quote
tarotangel Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 not bad for a livvy supporter zoltan varga was a genius but never got to see him Quote
Andrew Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 Solberg Why does everyone hate Solberg so much? From what I remember he was really good and scored lots of pens. Quote
El Padre™ Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 Why does everyone hate Solberg so much? From what I remember he was really good and scored lots of pens. He turned up at the club bragging about how good he was and infact turned out to be a complete diddy! Quote
bilbobaggins Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 Peter Weir, he'd be worth 15 million quid nowadays. We, of course, would let his contract expire so he could leave on a free. Quote
Guest swaddon Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 David Robertson, the last decent left-back we had. Quote
Guest Caroline B Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 My Uncle says Ernie Winchester. Don't know who he was. I suspect he's trying to be funny! I'd say Hans Gilhaus or Charlie Nicholas Quote

KGB Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 One of any of the following Miller,Mcleish,Strachan,Weir,Bett,Harper,Weir, Gillhaus,Archibald or Ritchie Quote
One Bobby Clark Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 Bobby Clark (or Bobby Connor or "Bobby" Bisconti or Lee "my right foot is only for standing on" Richardson" ) actually, forget the Bobby Connor vote. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 "Bobby" Bisconti glad you took your comment about Connor back. indeed. Quote
Guest swaddon Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 A lot of people slagged off Bobby Connor years ago, but you have to concede that if he was playing for us today, he'd be one of our more outstanding players. Quote

I was one who really could not stick Roger, and I'd pray to the Gods at around 2.40 every Saturday that he wouldn't be playing. He was the weak link in a superb midfield that consisted of Jazzer, Simmie, Granty, Mason(y) and Rico over the years . In a few hundred matches for the Dandies, he never once tackled anyone. True story. Have to say though, met him a couple of times and he's a really, really good guy. Shame about the football, however. Quote
Sharpie Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 Bobby Conner was better than anybody we've had at left midfield for a long time. Quote
frewdon Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 One of any of the following Miller,Mcleish,Strachan,Weir,Bett,Harper,Weir, Gillhaus,Archibald or Ritchie Steve or Byrne??? Quote
Mentorred Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 So hard as I was growing up in a time when Aberdeen were such a great team. Miller, Mcleish, Strachan etc. Also rate Gillhaus and Bett among others. Some of the players in the 80's were not world beaters but as a team they were. Quote
KGB Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 Steve or Byrne??? Well spotted mate. It was a reference to Steve but most on here probably don't remember him or how appalling he was. Oh and Bobby, Connor was a fine player who was much abused. Quote
