The club emailed me back, albeit with the statement included within the email, but I have since replied and apologised whilst urging them to stick to their guns on the matter! HAPPY NOW :P  ;)

Bollocks...

The club releases a statement to some substandard weegie rag to test the water before issuing a statement.

The response, aside from the usual braindead arseholes, is almost universally negative... overtly so.

THEN the club comes out and says "Well, we haven't really decided yet".

Fairly obvious this was their tactic.  Say nothing, test the water by talking to some journo, respond with vague "No decision yet". Couldn't be any more transparent.

And the usual arseholes say "You lot jumped the gun", and try to win points for themselves, forgetting to mention that they were under the same impression as everyone.. only they were perfectly happy to accept a reaming from the OF.

Because they, like the club, are gutless fucks.

There are a few AFC staff registered on here (can tell by email addresses) so we can safely assume they read the other boards too and have seen that they have to backtrack.

I've no doubt the weegian rag reported what they were told by the club... unless we're expected to believe that the Sunday Mail just randomly selected AFC from a hat and fabricated the story that Aberdeen was accepting the protection scheme from the OF.

Seriously?  We're meant to believe that?

If that's the case then AFC would have to look at revenue lost because of this story and rightly take legal action against the newspaper to recoup that lost revenue.

At the very least the whole situation has been mishandled by the retarded chimps at Pittodrie.

What the gimps at AFC, and their pet monkeys on the Aberdeen boards expect us to believe is this scenario...

Rather than coming out immediately with a statement to the effect that nothing has been decided and that a further press release will be issued upon conclusion of a solution, they just sit on their hands and say sweet fuck all.

This deafening silence gives the papers plenty time to pull Aberdeen's name at random from a hat, then fabricate a story to the effect that the club has capitulated to the OF's intimidation.

And somehow that's supposed to be a better scenario than straightforward capitulation?

So we're left with two scenarios.

1/ The monkeys favoured scenario: The club handled the situation with awe-inspiring ineptitude, by saying nothing to anyone.. and then the Sunday Mail just out of the blue fabricates the idea that the club has capitulated. THEN the club, after the damage has been done, decides to issue a statement.  And they expect the FANS to apologize to the CLUB for being misled by a weegie rag and the arrogant silence of the club?

2/ The club just capitulated right away. But rather than issue a statement they eventually decide to test the water by talking to a weegie paper, then gauged the response by fans before issuing a statement saying nothing, in fact, has been decided.

Uh huh.

Can someone point out exactly where Aberdeen say that they've accepted the Old Firm's proposal, of them receiving 5% of ticket sales, from the original Sunday Mail article?

ABERDEEN have caved in to Rangers' demand for a five per cent ticket handling fee because Dons security chiefs feared a repeat of crowd trouble that has marred the fixture in previous years.

Gers travel to Pittodrie in the third game of the SPL season on August 23 with the Old Firm ticket row still rumbling on.

The Glasgow clubs have outraged other top-flight rivals by asking for commission when selling away briefs to their own fans.

Falkirk, who host Rangers in Saturday's league opener, refused and instead flogged tickets directly to Light Blues supporters.

Hearts and Hibs have vowed to do the same but the rest are starting to break ranks.

Dundee United backed down when Celtic threatened a ticket boycott which would have cost the Arabs around s100,000.

Now Dons have followed suit but safety rather than cash is their biggest concern.

Managing director Duncan Fraser said: "We have security and distribution arrangements that are unique to games against the Old Firm.

"In the last five or six years those matches have passed almost without incident and only minimal arrests if any.

"So we felt it was best that Rangers continue to distribute the away tickets."

Grampian Police would be unlikely to allow Dons to risk home fans infiltrating the visitors' section in what is already a powderkeg clash.

The clubs have a history of bad blood and former Gers striker Mark Hateley was once attacked by a supporter while players from both teams have been hit by missiles hurled from the crowd.

Riot police had to take to the field in 2002 and a female Aberdeen fan was banned for life in 2005 for spitting at Fernando Ricksen.

But both clubs have worked hard to stamp out the trouble and don't want to compromise safety.

The move will delight Rangers season ticket holders who lost first option on away tickets for the Bairns clash.

Despite their stance Dons still aren't happy but know security is the priority.

An insider said: "We don't want a situation where there could be trouble in the away end and Rangers say 'It's nothing to do with us.'"

Here's another viewpoint, from someone who knows as much as the next person :

The Old Firm make a proposal to the other 10 SPL clubs, which they know won't go down well.

Fans of the other SPL clubs are outraged at the sheer arrogance of this proposal and immediately demand they retract this proposal.

Some clubs admit they may have no choice but to accept, some say there's no way they'll accept, and some say nothing, instead looking at every possible outcome.

The weegie press see a chance to sensationalise a story, but can't as they've nothing to base it on.

Duncan Fraser releases a quote in which he admits it'd be best for all parties concerned if Rangers continued distributing tickets, as most would agree, but doesn't say anything with regard to Aberdeen accepting the proposal.

The weegie press take this quote and sensationalise it, thus printing a quote from Duncan Fraser in which he admits it'd be best for all parties concerned if Rangers continued distributing tickets, but they also fail to point out that nothing has been agreed with regard to the 5%.

They also print a quote from 'the insider', but no direct quote from Grampian Police or no direct quote from Aberdeen or Rangers saying they've accepted the proposal  ::)

The Old Firm issues notice to the 10 SPL clubs that they're going to charge 5% for selling those clubs' tickets.

Aberdeen respond;

"So we felt it was best that Rangers continue to distribute the away tickets."

This is what's known as tacit compliance.

tac·it

–adjective

1. understood without being openly expressed; implied: tacit approval.

No refutation, so the situation appears to be that Aberdeen, understanding that the OF will charge 5%, are going ahead and allowing said distribution by the OF, as quoted in the article.

assumption (ah-sump-shin)

n.

1. The act of taking to or upon oneself: assumption of an obligation.

2. The act of taking possession or asserting a claim: assumption of command.

3. The act of taking for granted: assumption of a false theory.

4. Something taken for granted or accepted as true without proof; a supposition: a valid assumption.

5. Presumption; arrogance.

Who'd you believe, the Sunday Mail or the AFC website?!?

Contrary to reports in one of yesterday's Sunday papers, Aberdeen Football Club has not yet agreed to pay a five per cent ticket handling fee to Rangers Fottball Club for the distribution of away end tickets for games at Pittodrie.

The matter is yet to be resolved and Aberdeen and Rangers have agreed to meet at a later date to discuss the issue of selling tickets.  The clubs have also agreed that Rangers would continue to sell the tickets as normal, for the forthcoming game on Saturday 23rd August.

It looks like they have paid for the first game although they have not come out and said it yet

Fraser just said that AFC would have to allow the huns (Celtic seem to not have been mentioned strangely) to distribute tickets, no mention of payment.

Then a further statement saying that any payment, if indeed there will be one, was subject to further discussion.

I guess everything has to have been done either badly or with some kind of agenda for folk on here. Past performance as an indicator of future performance does point that way right enough but some will not even contemplate the notion that AFC may have done all that they can.

I really hope that this kind of fucking about is nipped in the bud but quite why the SPL are happy to sit on the sidelines beggars belief.

no mention does not mean its not going to happen though.

yes lets speak about it and then still pay them the money

Falkirk, Hibs and Hearts obvisually think more can be done than afc

spineless fuckers should have told them to go f*** themselves from the start

Say sorry in your own time folks...

Everyone on this thread - whether against or in defence of the clubs reported position in this matter - contributed to a discussion based on a newspaper article thought to be correct. Whather or not the club will still bend over and agree to be shafted by the Old Firm cock remains to be seen.

What is certain however, is that your ridiculous point scoring highlights fully what a petty, small minded little woman you are.

Why should I say sorry  ???

Aberdeen FC may have denied the story however ...

I will have no problem apologising when Aberdeen tell the billy-bully-bhoys to stick their 5% "handling fee" where the sun don't shine.

Sadly, I can't see me having to apologise.

......... I am sick fed up of AFC making unkept promises and blaming their own fans for various things. I'm in no doubt that AFC will have someone reading the fans views here and on other internet chat rooms, so they will know our thoughts on this issue (and others) which are clearly being totally ignored.

There are a few AFC staff registered on here (can tell by email addresses) so we can safely assume they read the other boards too and have seen that they have to backtrack.

Perfect example of what I was meaning.

A very obvisual example too.

This was posted on MAD, apparently from WM, but they were unsure and hadn't posted a sauce ;) so take it with a pinch of salt but i'd hope this was true.

this newspaper printed an article related to Aberdeen Football Club that was factually incorrect. It has caused the club a lot of problems and extra workload today, fielding calls and emails from irate fans and having supporters threatening not to renew season tickets and to boycott matches or protest in other ways. It's not the first time this newspaper has printed inaccuracies, in fact plain lies about our club, so I think it is time we took action'

I dunno, maybe they have bigger fish to fry other than worrying about upsetting some moaning wee boys on chatsites?

Maybe they're busy trying to sign players before the window shuts so you've something else to moan about next season?

Perhaps since there's a game on Saturday and the team just got back to Scotland they're a bit too busy to worry about something that won't affect them until the end of August?

Or, I know this sounds a bit far fetched, maybe they've just not got round to it because they're tackling the problem head-on instead of draughting up press releases for folk who say they're not going to buy tickets, merchandise, pies, etc..... ever, ever, ever again.   ::)

It's pathetic isn't it?

You've no right to be having a go when you shot your load after believing an article in the Sunday Mail.

Some might say it's a bit immature to be unhappy about it.

Do you seriously think that moaning and greeting about it is mature?

Or should that be serisually

Do you think that you moaning about me moaning and greeting about it is also mature  ;D

so lets not moan about nothing in life as its not mature

I'm not moaning I'm just pointing out the stupidity of your comments.  ;)
