mizer Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 So far this season Foster has looked out of place at rightback (well not surprising as he is not a defender, but a midfielder) and Saturday will see him put up against Kenny Miller. At the Scotland game last night Miller did well but the Irish right back was able to contain him to an extent and the balls played in were pretty harmless. I'm worried going on his performance last Saturday at Fir Park, Kenny Miller will dance round him and be able to play in balls with ease or be able to have a pop at target. I suppose it depends on what formation we play 5-3-2, 3-5-2, 4-4-2, 5-4-1, 3-2-1-1-2-1-1 etc. I'm just fretting after last night! Quote
PittodrieGoesBerserk Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 The one thing Foster's got is pace and that should be enough to deal with Miller. If Miller gets in behind the defence, Foster may be one of the only defenders in the SPL who has the speed to get back and cover him. Miller's a headless chicken who for some reason manages to get away with it at international level. Quote

Agreed, miller is a pain in the arse but is usually caught out when up against someone he cant outpace. Quote
Harcus Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 4-4-2 with Foster at RB should be sufficient to see off the Hun. Quote
Superstar Tradesman Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 That's one thing, ok the only thing, that Foster appears to be good at. Marking someone out of a game. Quote
K-9 Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Will probably have to. JC on Northsound saying that Mulgrew and Severin are injury doubts for Saturday with Zander already out. How about back 4 of: Duff Mair Considine Foster??? Quote

Sharpie Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I wonder if this leads to Lanzaat signing on in time for Sunday. Quote
manc_don Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I wonder if this leads to Lanzaat signing on in time for Sunday. I pray to god yes if he's any good! EDIT: It would appear so! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/aberdeen/7575131.stm Quote

Tyrant Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 We need Mr. Miyagi to heal Seve and Malgrew! Quote

PittodrieGoesBerserk Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Have you been to a game this season? Aye that's right: judge Foster on two games this season, one of which we won with a good defensive performance, rather than his professional career. I'm beginning to understand why most people here seem to think you're a prick. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 tbh given the options for RB the question should be: "Can we afford NOT to play Foster on Saturday?" Quote
Stewart Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Can we nae just get Anderson on loan for a game? Not as though he's got anything better to do. Quote
glasgowdon Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Foster will be handy when they bring Beasley on wide left as well. Quote
SuperKev82 Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 What makes you think he'll even be playing for them anyway Mizer he's hardly a stick on for them is he and why would he be playin at left wing? Quote
mizer Posted August 21, 2008 Author Report Posted August 21, 2008 What makes you think he'll even be playing for them anyway Mizer he's hardly a stick on for them is he and why would he be playin at left wing? We had this discussion on the train back yesterday as Miller was running into the space Ricky has been occupying in the first two games. Quote
sheep_shagger Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Cant believe there was anything in Millers performance on Wednesday that concerned you!! Dont think that we have any better options to play right back at the moment unfortunately. If Mulgrew doesnt make it then i'll be more concerned as that means Foster plus somebody else even more useless!! Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I'm just fretting after last night! Wednesday has no consequence on tomorrow as far as Miller and Foster go. Miller is pish. He can run, that's about it, pops up with the odd goal, but then so does Darren Mackie. If you're going to start "fretting" over Kenny Miller I suggest you get out more, there are more dangerous players we'll face in the course of a season, by which point you'll have given yourself an ulcer with all your fretting. Don't worry about it, it'll be fine. Quote

K-9 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Seems now Aberdeen have not been able to examine Mulgrews injury until this morning as the U21 squad did not arrive back (in Glasgow) until 10pm last night as they never hired a charter and flew all over Europe on scheduled flights to get home!!
