Biggalloot Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Smith can play on the wing. His crosses are about as good as Foster's. So.... Langfield Foster Diamond Considine Mulgrew Seve Young Aluko Smith Miller Mackie Thinking Wright needs a couple of games under his belt to get his fitness up. He's just back from injury so once he bangs in a few providing the strikers aren't scoring he'll replace Miller. Quote
??? Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 he'll replace Miller. Miller is arguably our best player, so I'd doubt that. Quote
caledonia Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 KNOWING JIMMY IT WILL BE BUT MAYBE NOT IN THAT POSITIONS Langfield Considine - Diamond - Seve - Mulgrew Smith - Kerr - McDonald - Aluko Wright/Mackie - Miller Quote
caledonia Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Miller is arguably our best player, so I'd doubt that. I dont think he will replace miller either but then again mackie is jimmy,s golden boy Quote
KGB Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Those putting Considine or Zander at left back need therapy. Quote
??? Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 If JC were to put some of the players in the positions suggested in this thread, he'd need to do a Paterson to leave Pittodrie. Those putting Considine or Zander at left back need therapy. Who did? Quote
Northfield Quine Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Langfield JH Considine Zander Mulgrew Smith Kerr Severin Aluko Miller Mackie Quote
Biggalloot Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 I dont think he will replace miller either but then again mackie is jimmy,s golden boy But that was why JC bought Wright to give competition to Miller. Jc has always played "big guy and smaller fast paced guy" up front. Brewster/Crawford at Dunfermline example. So a Miller/Wright strike force wouldn't work cause they are to similar. When and if Wright starts banging them in I could see him replacing Miller. This is good for the dons though cause it'll cause some healthy competition for places. Quote
Friedrichs Moustache Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 I don't understand that reasoning, what are you basing it on? I think this is the 11 that JC will start with if everyone's available to him. Langfield Foster - Diamond - Severin - Mulgrew Smith - Kerr - McDonald - Aluko Mackie - Miller However, I'd quite like to see us play a 4-5-1, now that we've got two good wide players and a couple of good sitting players, just to see how we get on. Langfield Foster - Diamond - Considine - Mulgrew Kerr - Seve Smith - McDonald - Aluko Miller Only problem with this formation is that we're relying heavily on the 11 that are starting, as they're all ideal for the position they'd play in. A 4-4-2 enables us to chop and change players with very little difference. Exactly the team I was gonna suggest. Though we have enough trouble scoring goals, I'm not sure a lone striker is such a good idea. I'd like to see us try it though. Quote
tlg1903 Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Sounds very tombola-esq Like it though! I see it as more utilising the versatility of players and if going 343 its putting most players bar seve in arguably their best positions. I.e. mulgrew and foster in midfield and smith and aluko up front Quote
