Friedrichs Moustache
There were 3 Faroese trialists earlier in the Summer. Two of them were given contracts, and the decision on the third, Holm, was delayed. He's now been given a years contract according to Redweb. mizer
http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/827698 Dismal Dons held by battling Broch FOR the second time this year the Dons left Buchan with their ears burning and pride severely dented. The Aberdeen fans in the near to 900 crowd at Broch veteran Derek Milne’s testimonial match came to witness the second coming of English winger Sone Aluko. And it’s fair to say some of his skills were as dazzling as the bright orange boots he wore on his feet. But Aluko and his pals ended the night with a closed doors tongue lashing from manager Jimmy Calderwood for failing to beat the Highland League neighbours of Peterhead, who humiliated them 4-0 during pre-season. Even when you take the nature of the game into consideration, an Aberdeen side containing Aluko, Tommy Wright, Stuart Duff, Jeffrey de Visscher, Chris Maguire and on-loan West Brom defender Jared Hodgkiss should not have drawn with the Broch part-timers – especially after having built up a 3-1 lead. Dons reserve coach Sandy Clark was happy to acknowledge that. “Without being disrespectful, we should be winning games like these comfortably,†he said. “It looked for a spell as if we were going to do that. “There were a lot of good things in the first half. “But we were disappointing in the second half. “When you have as many experienced players in the side as we did, you would hope we would have been able to control things a lot better. “We didn’t, and most of the good things are cancelled because we lost bad goals and didn’t kill off the game the way we should have.†Hodgkiss made the worst possible start to his first game in an Aberdeen shirt when he conceded a penalty after just 32 seconds, for a trip on William West. Allan HALE hammered the spot kick past John Batemen to send the home fans into raptures. The Dons were back level in the seventh minute via a well worked goal. A pass from Hodgkiss was nodded on by Wright to Michael Paton. The young striker then clipped the ball back over from the left and WRIGHT was on hand to steer a great header into the net from 15 yards. A robust tackle from Ryan Christie on Maguire led to the free-kick that allowed the Dons to go ahead in the 27th minute. Aluko took the kick and his cross from the right was perfectly flighted for MAGUIRE to steer a 14-yard header home. The Broch kept battling away, and Bateman was forced to make a finger-tip save from Marc Dickson’s long-range shot. PATON seemed to seal things for the Dons right on half-time when his well-placed shot from the edge of the area went in via the Broch keeper’s left post. But Aberdeen eased off in the second period. The Broch’s floppy-haired bruiser Russell McBRIDE powered home a close-range header to make it 3-2 in the 65th minute. Hodgkiss’ night then got worse when a second spot-kick was awarded against him for a challenge on West. It looked a soft one, but man-of-the-moment MILNE didn’t care as he hammered the ball past Bateman to make it 3-3 and ensure he has good reason to look back on his big night with pride. The Dons might have been awarded a penalty late on when Dean Elrick slid in on Maguire. But a draw was the least Fraserburgh deserved for the way they matched their full-time visitors. ABERDEEN: Bateman, Hodgkiss, Stirling Smith, Stuart Smith, Holm, De Visscher, Duff, Aluko, Maguire,

stubo72
Great response to the Evening Depress report (http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/827698) "Charlie Allan - YOU ARE A CLOWN!!!!!! Were you even at the game or did you borrow the write up from the AFC website before adding your own doom and gloom spin on it? It was a friendly match, a testimonial. Fraserbourgh were given 2 pens, one of which was for an imaginary foul and the other was to make sure Derek Milne got his testimonial goal. Aberdeen were all over them, it was like watching a cat with a mouse..... Give up football writing Charlie, you've never been any good at it anyway. A new career as the wife of a fish monger in Torry awaits you, I'm sure you'll fit in nicely with the rest of the gossips in the Anchorage Bar on a Friday morning while they wait for their husbands to get back from sea! Brian Henderson" Dunno if he posts on here, but nice one!

Reekie_Red
http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/827698 FFS! When's the fat postie gonna retire/keel over? Who cares if it was a draw. It was a testemonial. I'm sure Manure could've pumped a lot more than two goals past us at the Gothenburg Testemonial. Fact of the matter is it wasn't their night, it was Aberdeen's night. Same goes for this match. It was Derek Milne's night, not Aberdeen's! We were just the glamour team that helped honour him as a player. Typical Fat Charlie twisting his doom and gloom into this result. Were you even there, Charlie??
