Sonoftherock Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Saw Arj Barker last weekend, was very poor IMO. I'd never heard of him before, but apparently he sells out in the US and AUS. Some of his observational stuff raised a chuckle.... but other than that I barely managed to crack a smile. Quote
Ptayles Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Saw Rhod Gilbert last week. If there's a better stand up on the circuit at the moment then I've not seen him! Watched "Believe", the biopic on Eddie Izzard tonight. I expected it to be a tad self indulgent but it wasn't, it was very good. What a huge amount of effort and perseverance he put in when he was younger before he made his breakthrough. Rhod Gilbert is absolutley superb! His work experience programme he done for the beeb was superb Quote

Madbadteacher Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 I find rhod gilbert just a bit too shoutey and welsh to be honest. But part of that is his "angry" act. See Ben Elton c.1980s Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Stewart Francis. Terrific. Quote
El Padre™ Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 I hate Lee Evans. Absolutely despise him. He's in the same league of annoying as Joe Pasquale. Quote

El Padre™ Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 I liked that sketch, but in general I find him really dull. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 I hate Lee Evans. Absolutely despise him. He's in the same league of annoying as Joe Pasquale. Very much this. Stoney-esque annoyance. Quote
Reekie_Red Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 i only ever laughed once at Joe Pasquale - he made a gag about being dyslexic. He wanted to do karate, but ended up going to karaoke. Someone picked a fight with him, so he sang "tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree" at his attacker. Made me chuckle a little bit. But Lee Evans is an irritating shit who tries to pass "I'm nervous as fuck, and I'm gonna sweat all over this stage" off as comedy. Quote
RDU_64 Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Agree with the sentiments about Lee Evans. Fucking hate him. He's shite. Got Frankie Boyle the night at the AECC! Looking forward to it but me girlfriend isnt! She thinks she might be too close to the bone! Quote
Reekie_Red Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Frankie tends to regurgitate a lot of his jokes. If you've seen him regularly on Mock The Week, you'll know half his material. But he's still worthwhile for some of the stuff he comes out with Quote
Sharpie Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Katie Price, or whatever she calls herself these days, is a fan. Quote
Kowalski Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 The Kevin Bridges Live DVD is excellent Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 The Kevin Bridges Live DVD is excellent Indeed. Saw him during the summer in Edinburgh, brilliant. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 I think he spans a fair range of material and tastes Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 I'm not so convinced by Kevin Bridges. Convinced? Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 So you think he isn't then. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Pretty resounding no then. Quote
Aberdeen_Ladette Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 The Kevin Bridges Live DVD is excellent Had sore tummy laughing whilst watching that DVD, loved it! Quote
Aberdeen_Ladette Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Got Frankie Boyle the night at the AECC! Looking forward to it but me girlfriend isnt! She thinks she might be too close to the bone! Was she too close to the bone?! What did you, and your girlfriend, think of Frankie Boyle? I went to see him in Edinburgh a couple of months ago, and although some material was similar to his TV stuff, I thought he was hilarious. Then again, I do have a sick sense of humour! Quote
Kowalski Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 3 comedy awards for Miranda Hart Quote
