Hibs went in front after three minutes when Ross CHISHOLM beat John Bateman all ends up with a dipping shot from thirty yards. Two minutes later, Stephen PINAY took advantage of a Gary McDonald error before slotting the ball into the corner of the net.

Jack Wilson should have made it three for the visitors but missed when it seemed easier to score while Thierry Gatheussi picked up a yellow card for a blatant dive.

With a minute of the opening half remaining, Andy McNeil denied Jamie Smith with a brilliant save as the Dons looked to reduce the deficit.

At the half time interval Gary Carroll replaced Stuart Smith. After the break though Hibs continued to press. On 47 minutes Vantorno went clean through but Bateman made a great safe. Three minutes later however VANTORNO went through again and with the Aberdeen defence appealing for offside he calmly placed the ball into the net to put Hibs 3-0 up.

On 55 minutes Tommy Wright had a good headed which went just over. Three minutes later Wright was booked for persistent fouling. Just after the hour mark Ross Chisholm booked for pulling back de Visscher. Shortly after that McNeil produced another great save from a Charlie Mulgrew free kick

On 79 minutes Tomie was booked and shortly after that Wilson was replaced by Shaun Welsh. 81 minutes and Gary McDONALD latched onto a loose ball after good play by de Visscher and hit a fierce drive past McNeil to get a goal back for the Dons.

82 minutes, Vantorno was replaced by Dean. 87 minutes McNeil, who had an outstanding game, could this time only fumble a Mulgrew free kick and McDONALD was on hand again to force the ball over the line. From nothing the Dons had forced a grandstand finish. 88 minutes, de Visscher booked for decent. Then as Aberdeen pushed for an equaliser Hibs broke and Cropley was put right through on goal but Bateman had another superb save.

The Dons kept pushing for an equaliser but it was too late.

Hodgkiss had another fine game as did Mulgrew. And Gary McDonald will also be pushing for a starting place on Saturday after his two goals.
