???
Pretty sure Dons use Albyn for the medical work. How much do they pay though?
TENEMENTFUNSTER
Biggest issue is accurate diagnosis. This far that doesn't seem to have happened and I presume that is what seeing this dude is all about. Getting treated by physios is all well and good but it is no substitute for a real specialist diagnosis and treatment plan.

TENEMENTFUNSTER
Send him to a specialist in the first place. This pish has gone on for a ridiculous length of time and someone should be getting their ears warmed over this.

This pish has gone on for a ridiculous length of time and someone should be getting their ears warmed over this. And who do you think the "specialists" turn to for thier rehab programmes? er, yes, that will be the physio's. Who incidentaly ARE specialists, especially if they are dealing with the re-hab of sports injuries. And as for Albyn, NHS consultants and private consultants are the mostly the same people. Its just the NHS get the tab if something goes badly wrong.

TENEMENTFUNSTER
Really? That a fine and valid set of comments you have unleashed on the unwitting masses. Thank you for your valuable insight into the inner working of our health care system and Aberdeen football clubs treatment table. Perhaps if you cared to read the previous posts, adding to what I had already said was fairly redundant. By professional and personal experience physios are very good, excellent in fact, at progressing the care and treatment of injuries etc with an accurate diagnosis from elsewhere. Diagnosis is far from thier forte.
capitalsharpie
(Sigh) Right here goes, if it is a sciatic nerve problem then nothing but spinal surgery from a surgeons will work, if it's serious enough, Which isnae gonna happen cos, many lower back problems occur from mis-alignments and such from all over the body, from poor posture from the upper body all the way down to having a gammy knee for a spell. If the ORIGINAL insult or injury whatever it is has resolved then this may be a knock on consequence. In any case we are back to the work of the phyisio's and the masseurs at the club to resolve these problems. Which a specialist in spinal problems or gammy knees will refer to to implement said treatment plans. In any case, the two will probably work in conjunction with each other and not a doctor's word is the final say in the matter.
TENEMENTFUNSTER
I'm led to believe that a great deal of his problems relate to an as yet not properly addressed sciatic nerve issue. This was the opinion of a physio who is a friend of mine. I refer you to what I said about diagnosis. Sorry, I didn't include a stupid sigh to begin with. ntbear
Diagnosis is far from thier forte. I disagree, in one session with a good physio I had a much better diagnosis, then about 10 visits to my gp and a referral to a osteologist (albeit you only ever get seen by a registrar rather than the consultant). He has worked wonders in comparison with the gp, consultant and NHS physio. Having said that, finding a decent physiotherapist isn't easy either, but having lived with and seen many students work through the medical system at AU, I would always seek many many opinions before trusting anyone. BobbyBiscuit
Not sure if this has been posted in this thread or elsewhere or not at all, but it said in last week's Sunday Herald that JC was now rather tentative on a new contract for Smith. He has told the player that he must prove his fitness by the end of the season otherwise there will be no offer from us. Common sense prevails, it seems. Ajja
We apparently binned Lovell for a fitness record that was significantly better. A guy who has been fit most of this season and pinged in 10 goals.

A guy who has been fit most of this season and pinged in 10 goals. To be fair though, I think it was just not going to work out for him up at Aberdeen for one reason or another. Our record with injuries is quite rubbish and i'm not surprised he has stayed reasonably injury free and scored a few goals! Its good to see JC using some commonsense withregards to Smith's contract. As we've said before, he really needs to be on a pay as you play contract because its not even bordering ridiculous anymore, its plain silly.
