TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Snowing heavily in the Gateway to the Campsies! Quote
CtS Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I'd be fecking delighted if we got some proper snow, like we used to when i was a lad. Got to agree with sweetchuck, arctic conditions my arse. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 No buses running in London? WTF is that all about? Quote
Sweetchuck Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 No buses running in London? WTF is that all about? Hadn't you noticed that the weather is frickin' apocalyptic, maaan? It's a miracle that any of us are still alive, if the tone of the media is anything to go by. Apparently the pavements in Notting Hill are so slushy that the residents simply can't reach the 4x4 to get to Harrods & Harvey Nicks, and are therefore on the verge of cannibalism. Quote
The Doricle Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Caught a bit of news on the telly this morning while having breakfast. Reporter in SE england claims 6-7 inches of snow there- it was barely over the toes of her boots. What kind of fucking inches was that then? 6 cm maybe, but even that looked like it would be at a push. Quote
Guest swaddon Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 It's been snowing here in Burton on Trent since yesterday. The place is gripped by panic; people are running around the streets in a state of panic, there are overturned cars on fire everywhere, shops are being looted and everything. And there was no warning, they've not been saying on the weather for the last four days that it was going to snow or anything like that. I blame the credit crunch and Gordon Brown. Quote

??? Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 6-7 inches of snow could easily have fallen if you know how they measure these things. Quote
mizer Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Posted February 2, 2009 Well, had to walk home due to the roads being grid locked and on the way some seeing some abysmal driving. Up to 3 inches at points on the pavements, along with a ford focus at one point sliding down the hill towards me. On that same hill cars were tailgating others. Quite a nice change from the bus. Mackie's ace! Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 We got a firm-wide voicemail in the morning warning us not to come into work if it was going to be dangerous, then an email in the afternoon re-stating the fact and that if the weather was bad tomorrow again to stay at home. Apparently the London offices were pretty much empty today, wimps. Quote

Kowalski Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 The transport infrastructure in the South East of England has been shown up to be a total joke today. How difficult is it to clear show off a runway? Sounds like they were very ill-prepared, as usual! 6.2 million didn't make it to work! Shocking!! Quote

amp Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 A bit sleety today from my view on Market Street (Aberdeen) BBC says there will be heavy sna here today, haven't seen any as yet though. There was a bit of sna lying on my way in to work from Ellon side, not that bad though. Quote
CtS Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Heaps of the stuff out the west side of town. Very wet though, chaos as usual on the roads this morning as all the lazy fecking tarts drove thier kids 200 yards to school in their lexus and Q7's and still managed to get stuck. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 SNOW MELTS, CLAIMS MET OFFICE SNOW is a delicate substance made of tiny ice crystals and unlikely to last forever, the Met Office claimed last night. Experts insisted the granular material had a soft and open structure that was very likely to turn into water, and was not an airborne member of the notoriously hardwearing diamond family. As millions of Britons stocked up on anti-wolf equipment, climatologists claimed the snow would disappear within days as rising air temperatures resulted in the breakdown of its crystalline structure in a process they referred to as 'melting'. A Met Office spokesman, said: "Snow is a notoriously unstable material, which is why we never use it to build bridges. "Try picking it up, notice how the warmth of your hands makes it go soft and disappear. In fact, the only thing it is guaranteed to withstand is a 12-ton London bus." He added: "Of course, there is always a chance this is the beginning of a hundred year winter that will only end when four unbearably smug public school children become our rulers after pushing their way through the back of a magic wardrobe, stealing some very expensive coats and befriending a talking lion who's actually Jesus." But trainee solicitor and amateur survivalist Julian Cook said he was now prepared for a permanent, snow-based society after watching Sky News non-stop for 16 hours and reading the Daily Mail's 12-page supplement, Wolves! Everywhere! He added: "Sssshhhhh! They can hear how fat you are." Quote
