Reekie_Red Posted October 4, 2024 Report Posted October 4, 2024 Just finished season 2 of Rings Of Power. I'm not a huge LOTR aficionado. I know enough of the lore to enjoy the references, but not enough to be offended by the way Amazon have done this series. But massive inconsistencies in the final 2 episodes, multiple people being speared / stabbed / arrowed to death in episode 7 suddenly appearing battle-ready in episode 8. Still, overall an enjoyable series and a massive improvement on Season 1 Quote
manc_don Posted February 16 Report Posted February 16 My wife wanted to watch apple vinegar cider tonight, series about a dimfluencer who conned people into thinking she had stage 4 brain cancer and cured it with…apple cider vinegar. How these people exist is beyond me. Quote

The other series we've been watching on Disney+ is Paradise. Good dystopian series about about a secret service agent looking into a presidential assassination. Quote

I missed the Dons fan, was it the prison warden Scottish lad? Anyway, probably like a lot of people, I watch a tremendous amount of shite on Netflix and other channels. Turgid crap that I sit through just to see what happens. Netflix, especially, seems to have a lot of terrible output. Adolescence was definitely not that. Probably the best thing I've seen on Netflix, and the best TV in years. Taking a subject and really conveying it. Great stuff, and the child actors were top quality, without exception. Quote

Restless Natives had a couple of folk in the 83 Aberdeen top chasing the bandits' motorbike in Central Edinburgh. Any other shows have Dons fans appearing on them? Quote

Loads of shite on Netflix but Adolescence was brilliant, absolute top drawer acting and production. Oh, and… 1 Quote

Reekie_Red Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 The Twister on Netflix. Doco on the massive km-wide tornado that ripped theu Joplin, Missouri in 2011. Really really good! It's only about 90 minutes long but had me gripped for the middle 50 minutes. Mother Nature is an absolute bitch when she wants to be Quote
Reekie_Red Posted Saturday at 10:29 Report Posted Saturday at 10:29 3 episodes into Adolescence. It's superb so far. The single-shot technique is brilliant, gripping, makes you part of the events. And some of the acting and abrupt are exceptional. Quote
manc_don Posted Sunday at 22:18 Report Posted Sunday at 22:18 Adolescence is on the list to watch, but just need to be in the right head space for it from what i've heard. So a light hearted show we've started is, The Residence on Netflix, a who dunnit at the white-house. Great cast and very funny. Quote

I was actually put off when I heard it was a Netflix thing because as you say much of their stuff (recently at least) is shite but there is the odd exception. This being one of them. Also watched A Thousand Blows recently too. Another Stephen Graham one (Although I think this one is Sky Atlantic rather than Netflix? Could be wrong). It's OK. A genuinely struggled with the Jamaican accents at times though. Quote
