Kowalski Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8363892.stm Methinks Jenson is setting himself up for a fall. A lot of people think Hamilton is the faster driver (Jenson needs to try and prove them wrong) but Hamilton has the whole team built round him and will likely be the number 1. Bad move for Jenson I reckon. Quote
Cowie Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Yeah - this has 'alonso' written all over it... Might be quite funny to watch thou? Quote
manc_don Posted November 18, 2009 Author Report Posted November 18, 2009 Button is a fool for doing this. As you both say it has Alonso written all over it. Two champions in the same team ruins the Heirachy and someone is bound to get jealous. We'll see who spits the dummy out first. Quote
baggy89 Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Depends how much influence Dennis has on team affairs nowadays. He seems to have always had his blue eyed boy out of the two drivers and no doubt in this instance it would be Hamilton. Maybe under the new regime both will be given a fair crack, although I suppose that will only be until one asserts their dominance and I don't think there is any denying Hamilton is faster. Quote
BrownyBrown Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 BBC News called them: 'two of Britain's greatest ever drivers'... Quote
Kowalski Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 BBC News called them: 'two of Britain's greatest ever drivers'... Dearie me, I could probably list 10 better than them. Quote
Ptayles Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Dearie me, I could probably list 10 better than them. Is number 7-Lee Miller? Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Who is to say that Mercedes wanted him at "Brawn" anyway? They will still be very keen to have an all German line-up no matter what they may say publically and aside from that, there are enough doubts about the competitiveness off next years motor at Brawn. Don't think it's a bad move at all for Button, he's getting twice his wages (still very cheap for a world champ though) and driving a potentially much better car at a team, however it is set up, evidently wanted him. I think he'll get his arse felt for him but he's earned a shot at a "big team". Quote
Kowalski Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Would love to see Button stick one over Hamilton next year but can't see it. However, they're binning refueling for 2010, so Button's smoother style (Hamilton is hard on tyres) might benefit when it comes to conserving tyres and limiting the number of pit stops. Quote

Agree on both points Kow but Hamilton is very very fast. Quote
manc_don Posted November 20, 2009 Author Report Posted November 20, 2009 I read this morning that Mercedes are in talks with a certain Michael Schumacher to bring him back! Shirley his neck problems will still persist? Quote

Madbadteacher Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 BBC News called them: 'two of Britain's greatest ever drivers'... Yeah but channel 4 (or 5) does endless "Greatest Ever...." progs with 100 entries..... Naw, still wouldna make it! Quote
Kowalski Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 Should be a cracking season this year. First time I've really looked forward to a new season for a long time. Four teams all looking very strong (Red Bull, McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari). It's gonna be good! Quote
manc_don Posted March 13, 2010 Author Report Posted March 13, 2010 Indeed! I think the rule change with regards to refueling will be massive! Really interesting grid for tomorrow, vettel is a strong driver so i'm intrigued to see whether he holds on and finishes first. Should be a really good season Quote
dave_min Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 Should be a great season ahead. 4 World Champions in the top 8, and a pair of rising stars ahead of them all in pole and second. Really excited about it. I'm not sure the fuel rule is going to make much difference tbh, in my eyes it's just another rule change to keep the sport fresh and keep everyone on their toes. In the DT "Who's gonna be World Champion" Sweeper, I call Massa. Quote

But either way, roll on the season I'm going to call for Hamilton, though I think Vettel will have a very strong season. Quote
Edinburghdon Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 I'm going to call for Hamilton I hope its not him! I think Vettel will have a very strong season. I'd agree with that, can see him challenging for titles over the next few years. I'm still backing Alonso though! Quote

manc_don Posted March 14, 2010 Author Report Posted March 14, 2010 Alonso is a funny one, he's with a good team this year but I still wonder if he'll be his stroppy self when Massa smacks him. Anyone just see the interview between Hamilton and Button? Hamilton had some interesting answers, but at least he was honest to say he hadn't experienced the ultimate team mate yet rather than bullshitting an answer and saying Button was. Roll on the GP today Quote
Kowalski Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 Well the race was pish. I don't think removing the refueling has enhanced the entertainment, as the pit stops are just a procession now - all done in 4 - 4.5 seconds. Quote
manc_don Posted March 28, 2010 Author Report Posted March 28, 2010 I missed it today due to not having the internet or tv atm. Sounds like i missed an absolute cracker! What was vettel's reaction after his race was ruined by another mechanical fault? Quote
glasgow sheep Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Just finished watching the re-run. Superb race but Hamilton was fuming as the team fucked up big style and instead of maybe challenging for the win he came well down the field. Vettel was pretty pissed as well but not much you can do if shit luck strikes again. Quote
