Dunty Posted November 28, 2018 Report Posted November 28, 2018 Kinda related. Okay, not related, though it's Aberdeen Council and planning. But I see labour have made a pig's ear of their marquee election commitment with the city rail link to the new AECC and airport, not realising there's houses in the way. Did no-one think to check a map at any stage? Looking forward to labour announcing a rail link to Kingsford in order to win votes before the next election, knowing fine well it'll never happen. Quote
Dunty Posted December 14, 2018 Report Posted December 14, 2018 Write up on new Kingsford survey results. https://www.whatastramash.com/home/2018/12/12/new-survey-fans-fears Quote
rocket_scientist Posted December 14, 2018 Report Posted December 14, 2018 I don't give a fuck what any survey says. I don't need to hear the views of others to know what I think. Relocating is the long-held agenda of one man. He didn't consult us properly. He neglected the maintenance of our spiritual home in furtherance of his plan. The FACT that he proposed relocation over 20 years ago and within 5 years of the RDS being built was proof that his plan did not accord with the board that he usurped, a board that DID have the best interests of AFC at heart. So it's a matter of trust. I don't trust Milne and no right-minded Aberdeen fan should. So fuck him and fuck Westhill FC. Quote

tom_widdows Posted January 16, 2019 Report Posted January 16, 2019 Stage 3 Building Warrant - Timber Kit Approved back in November Stage 2 Building Warrant - M&E still ongoing An amendment to the stage 1 building warrant has now been submitted making changes to the foundations, drainage & superstructure I know you are all gripped by this update but for some relief Luton Town finally got planning approval for a new stadium (First time I heard that being discussed was in the mid 1990s) This is what they are going for more pics and details here http://stadiumdb.com/designs/eng/power_court_luton Quote
Ten Caat Posted January 16, 2019 Report Posted January 16, 2019 Jesus that's a monstrosity......I think It's definitely right up there with the most bizarre concepts I've ever seen. Presumably designed that way so if necessary the 3 lower stands can have a higher tier added fairly easily individually if/when required. I hope it's a design that grows on you.... Quote
RicoS321 Posted January 16, 2019 Report Posted January 16, 2019 Can it fit within the confines of Pittodrie? Anything else is irrelevant.... Quote
OxfordDon Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 Was their brief basically "must be big, shiny and gold"? Definitely ticks those boxes. Quote
tom_widdows Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 Was their brief basically "must be big, shiny and gold"? Definitely ticks those boxes. Going by how long its taken to get this far it could have been 'Do what you like with the stadium but for fuck sake make sure you have lots of flats which will help spread the web of unaffordability further beyond Luton. Back in the 90s they were talking about a stadium with a retractable roof. Quote

Northstar Posted January 26, 2019 Report Posted January 26, 2019 Secret plans to save pittodrie have been drawn up ... Architects have drawn up a plan B if kingsford drags on any Longer , training ground would be safe but a planned redevelopment Starting at south stand , then merkland then main stand . Pitch getting moved 15metres away from main stand to allow space for new Stand . It’s a 6 year project costed at 47m, capacity would range from 17k to 24k incorporating Safe standing . Quote
manc_don Posted January 26, 2019 Report Posted January 26, 2019 Haha, that sounds like complete bollocks Northstar. Quote

This I have to see as the laws of physics would appear to be being bended or broken unless someone has managed to do a deal to buy the flats behind the South & Merkland Stands. Can you provide a link to the proposals or perhaps even name the Architects in question? Quote
Elgindon Posted January 26, 2019 Report Posted January 26, 2019 Sounds about as reliable as his 'sell out' predictions Quote

tom_widdows Posted January 26, 2019 Report Posted January 26, 2019 Secret plans is the clue ...! Oh its one of those projects is it? They are fun....unless you are in 2nd year when they are a pain in the arse cutting into your socialising time and requiring 3 straight allnighters to get something on the wall before you are ripped apart by tutors but still given a C so you pass anyway. Ah well I look forward to seeing it on Urban Realm in a few weeks, perhaps even in new scientist with this magical ability to have multiple people occupy the exact same space at the same time and still comply with current Scottish Building & Fire regulations. I am intrigued that adapting (or perhaps even moving) the RDS is not mentioned in your post but maybe thats part of a bigger secret your fishing partner is keeping from you Quote

Were unconcerned that doing that would have meant the stand was essentially outside the stadium. Quote
wee toon red Posted January 29, 2019 Report Posted January 29, 2019 Called in for judicial review: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-47033930 Quote
Dunty Posted January 30, 2019 Report Posted January 30, 2019 Called in for judicial review: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-47033930 Ailsa Wilson QC, for the campaign group, said: "One of the factual issues that runs through this case is the availability of an alternative site for the proposed stadium and training facilities." Just nimbyism (is that a word? It is now). The alternative site they're pushing for is Loirston. All the issues they've argued against at Kingsford would be issues at Loirston - increased traffic, fans parking in streets, the need for shuttle buses, only one main access road from the city, the likelihood that it would encourage more drive through restaurants to be built there, that "green belt land" would be built on. It undermines their whole campaign. How can you say all these things are dreadful yet champion them for another area? That, and the council have sold land at Loirston so there is no room for a training ground and stadium. Same with Kings Links. But they'll stick their fingers in their ears and continue with their petition anyway. Quote
sheepheid Posted January 30, 2019 Report Posted January 30, 2019 Listen, it’s simple. Build a proper tunnel with reinforcements fae along the already existing road below union st up to mounthooly. Backfill union terrace gardens with all the shit you can find to replicate the current ground being built on a shit tip. Then build a new stadium and training facility there. Perfect. Union st thrives, pubs stay open, jobs a good een. Quote
tom_widdows Posted February 28, 2019 Report Posted February 28, 2019 Judicial review decision supposedly being published tomorrow at Noon Quote
